Lombard street is a great location but which can be noisy if you stay on the street side.
We liked the place: motel was very cute. The possibility to park the car easily in this busy location that Lombard Street is.
The hotel is within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and activities. The staff were very friendly, even offering us an additional parking spot at no charge when another guest arrived without a vehicle. The property is adorable and very well manicured.
The hideabed couch (like all hide a beds, of course) was really uncomfortable. That's about it.
We loved the location and the quaint little motel- it was homey. The price was a big plus and fit our budget. We felt we were treated very well.
Too small of a room! Other guests parked at our entrance to our room and made it difficult to get by.
Happy that the hotel remains and is still in business. Hard to maintain an atmosphere of being in a villa when the hotel is located on a very busy main street. Room was very small and greatful had a room in the back due to the high level of noise from the street. Great effort from owners to make the best of the space they have.
Slow drain in shower
Close to fun things
Room size itself for a queen bed, a bit small. Didn't have room to exercise. You have to be quiet by 10pm, thank God my children are older. No A/C but quiet cold so didn't need it.
We were in SF for about 5 days. Location is great, staff was awesome & rooms were quiet homely. I didn't realize that I hadn't book the room with the kitchen & Eric (very helpful) found me a room available in between my stay & they moved my luggage & checked me in to the other room. They also have parking which is a ++. We have a big car & they help my spot so no one would park there because I didn't fit anywhere else. I would definitely go back there if it's a family trip :-)
The WiFi didn't work and the lady at the reception desk did not help much.
I liked how it was beautiful, clean, and had your own private garage for your car instead of parking your car on the street. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean.
It was quaint and peaceful the birds were chirping outside the sunny window. Loved the fact that we had parking.
As others have said, might be a bit loud if you book a street view room, we had the courtyard room and was fine.
Free parking, friendly staff, great location, nice rooms and kitchen, very little not to like.
Parking is tight for larger vehicles, but the staff was very helpful and found a spot that worked.
Secure garden atmosphere, quaint clean, and comfortable.
Ideal location to discover the city. Close by restaurant, shops, public transport. Free car parking and beautiful courtyard.
although there was supposed to be WIFI, the internet was very bad
Very friendly staff
This hotel is as people have said a hidden gem in the city of San Fran, me and the other half stayed for two nights March 2015, when we arrived it was a lady called Patricia on the reception she was very nice and tried her best to get us a room in the court yard as we were on the road no luck. So we had Room 43, bad points noise noise noise we did not sleep a wink we were shattered was glad when we checked out, there were homeless people right outside which tbh did not bother us to much but it could be a bit worrying if you were alone and the room next door so noisy and someone was sick in the door way not the best. Good points, cute little hotel very clean, bed was very comfortable and there was a kitchen which I found was awesome not that we used it but if you were there a while you would, there is a store on the corner very close and bars and places to eat all around, its about a 25 minute walk to the front so not to bad. There are also garages for cars however there was not for us as it was used for storage so we had to park in the courtyard garage. Overall this is a lovely little place, however due to the noise we would not stay again, if there were some sort of glazing on the windows or a room in the courtyard then maybe but based on this experience we would book elsewhere.
reserved two rooms one had roaches, they gave us another room but didn't feel the same. Second night had a homeless person kicking our door Stayed in rooms facing the main Street very noisy. Will not be staying here again.
the location close to Painted Ladies, Crooked Street-Lombard St.
The location wasn't ideal for touristing, but it was close enough - and the quality of the hotel made up for it. Our TV remote was worthless, even after being changed out (the first had no batteries; the second had them, but still did not work); but no problem doing it the old fashioned way.
The hotel was very homey and quaint. The location was good, but not close by the primary tourist attractions -- okay if you like walking. The parking was tight, but handy.
Well appointed rooms with a sense of European old world charm. Every modern convenience and beautiful gardens.
WIFI is week around 10am~13pm. but it's okay. we r not in the room.
Great kitchen facility that we can cook our meal. Walking distance to Golden Gate Bridge and Palace of Fine Arts (I enjoy the morning jogging there). very friendly staff and comfortable bed
We booked a Suite with two rooms (20+21) connected through the bathroom. Only one room has a fridge and unfortunately the heating was sill on and it was not possible (checked with the reception) to turn heating complete of.
Very close to Presidio, Palace of Fine Arts. Parallel to Lombard Street you find Chestnut Street with several good spots for coffee, a drink or dinner. Free parking at the hotel + a very kind and helpful team made our visit to SF perfect.
I couldn't get on to their wifi network
Charming atmosphere. Walking distance to Liverpool Lil's and Presidio Social Club.
We had a problem with heating system. Over the night it was really chilly and we woke up frozen
Golden bridge, pier 39 are walking distance from the motel. Staff was really friendly. They had garrages where you can park your car.
The only concern we got, is the specific smell in the room with unknown origin.
Nice place to stay in the heart of Marina district. You may simply leave your car in the garage and travel by public transport anywhere you like, bus station is just around the corner. Motel is well decorated around in old European style. Motel staff is friendly and responsive.
all good :)
Friendly and welcoming staff. Free parking in a lovely courtyard. Location provides easy access to the Marina area and further field. It felt like an oasis within the hustle and bustle of the city. Great fresh cookies daily at front desk !
The website said as much, but the traffic noise in the street side rooms really is quite loud. Also, could not turn the wall radiator off so the room was too hot.
Quaint little hidden away courtyard was a welcome find and put us right in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do. The staff was very friendly and the free off-street parking was a surprising bonus.
There was nothing negative about this motel.
I've stayed in many motels in San Francisco, but the Marina was head and shoulders above the rest. Not only were the rooms clean and comfortable but they also had character and charm. I will certainly stay there again.
