Location near Venice Beach, walk-in shower, nice room, fun atmosphere
slightly over-priced restaurant (food great, though)
We loved the location right in front of Venice Beach. Short distance to Sta Monica. If you want ride bikes, enjoy the beach, its a good place to stay. Beautiful sunsets from our balcony and the roof top bar. Staff very nice and ready to help. Large living room with plasma TV, a dining table and a small kitchen. Large bedroom. The wifi free worked well during our 5 days.
We missed a room service with basic options but since we had a small kitchen in the room, we manage at the end shopping at a local supermarket.
Room. Restaurant. Location
The bouncers on New Year's Eve roof party were rude toy family
Great Location , Excellent Customer Service, Free Parking and Breakfast was Fantastic. Just what we needed for the first night of our US Roadtrip.
Room was a bit noisy in the evening with the music from the roof top bar as we were on the top floor under the bar, but not a big issue as it did not go on too late .
the construction going on covered the balcony/ window and limited a bit the experience.
Excellent beach location, awesome views, very clean
We were staying on the top floor near the rooftop lounge. At night in our room we could hear the music pretty well. It wasn't a HUGE problem for us but I could see how an older couple wouldn't like it
Nice big room - we had a suite room with seperate bed room and a big living room + kitchen area (sink + microwave), very friendly and helpful staff
Location was ok, hotel directly at the beach, but Venice is not the nicest of places for a family with small children, at least not at night
Rooftop Bar Rooms Staff Clean Location Help with local knowledge
Lifts very slow
Great staff, though at times the two people handling front desk AND parking valet, seemed overwhelmed. They need a bit more help at busy times. But all good people and I had a great stay! Thanks, PA
Location and view unbeatable. Great modern decor and big bathrooms.
The room and the bathroom were clean, and the location next to the beach is one of the best assets. The neighborhood was quite and the valet service made our stay even more comfortable.
The menu at the bar is very limited
Rooftop bar and the breakfasts. Room was not bad either!
Having to pay for a room on the Friday to leave luggage after having booked 22 rooms on the Monday. Left a bad taste in the mouth for what was otherwise a great stay.
Although I can’t recommend the hotel, I must say the people who worked there were really great and wanted to be sure the guests had a great stay. I think you could do better at other hotels quality wise for the type of accommodations they provided but I really have to give them a plus for being so professional in our situation.
We booked this as our last night in L.A. and when we arrived, we pretty much saw immediately, it was not really the place for us. The area of town seemed a bit dicey to us, and the clubs were kitty-corner to the hotel. The valet was nice as we checked in the very tiny drive-in area but you could see in his face that even he saw we were too old for the place haha. The beautiful young lady at check-in was very nice and recommended we upgrade to the ocean view suite. So we figured we’d take the plunge and do it. The bellman took our cart of luggage up as we squished into one of the few (if only) elevator with some young partiers going to the penthouse club. The hallways seemed dingy like they had just painted over the dirty lumpy walls and there was rock music being piped into the hallway thru speakers (!). We got to the “suite” and the furnishings were of a lower quality to us than Ikea (we like Ikea). It was so unwelcoming and there were ugly quirky decals on the glass shower doors and mirror in the bathroom. The Ocean view was over a large, ugly parking lot. The balcony was one of those super skinny types that just barely fit a chair and again, overlooked the parking lot. We asked about the pounding club music coming from overhead and were told our room was below the club – but that it would be closing soon. The minute the bellman left, we looked at each other and decided that we’d rather sleep in our rental car than in this room. It just felt cheap and icky. We called down to the front desk and told them, we were obviously just too old for this hotel and here’s where the story gets really good to me. They were totally cool with that. We came down, checked out and the receptionist even offered to find us another room (since it was 9:00 the night before we left LA). They completely refunded our money too. I’m so glad we tipped the valet and bellman well!
The hotel staff were welcoming and fun. We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds with a balcony facing north with a good view of the beach and part of the alley. Very comfortable beds. This place feels like a boutique hotel in style but without all the high end finishes. You get low bandwidth Wifi for free and can upgrade for a price. The rooftop bar has a GREAT view of the beach. If you like the security of a hotel, this place will provide you with that but you also get to be right in the middle of all the action of Venice Beach close to Muscle Beach, a skate park and an open area used by buskers to perform. Would definitely stay here again.
The bathroom in our room had a barnyard door which is stylish but not functional when sharing the room with your friend! We would've both liked more privacy, a door that had a seal when it closed.
I was looking for a special place to spend time with my 22 year old daughter. The night we spent at the Hotel Erwin was really nice. Your staff could not have been friendlier and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Location is excellent with a City Sightseeing Bus Stop right outside. Close to Muscle Beach. Food was really good especially the Thanksgiving dinner. Close to a few good bars.
Not much to say here. Possibly the rooms are slightly over-priced. But the staff and hotel were nice.
We where so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Location is perfect! The room was perfectly designed (love the sink in the room and not in the bathroom!), it was perfectly cleaned, there was lovely little touches everywhere like complimentary water bottles, the ability to purchase cheap sunglasses straight from the room and very reasonably priced mini bar. The staff was so polite and friendly! And of course one of the main reasons we chose this hotel to start with - FREE WIFI! Thank you, we'll absolutely be coming back - on this vacation!
- very nice people - roof top bar
Location and staff service-minded.
Not enough privacy between balconys, especially the one between room 614 and the "smoke-exit" from the rooftop-bar. Should have been a higher classshiled so no one easily could jump over and into our balcony.
Your reception staff were exceptional. Food was really good.
Hotel facilities were basic but if you're paying or location then it's worthwhile.
location, condition of hotel, fabulous view of the cost and hills all the way the Hollywood sign
Neighbors one night decided to turn their room and balcony into an all night party venue
Location is good.
Good vibe to this hotel just yards from Venice Beach. Accommodation very good with staff keen to please. The hotel restaurant is a bonus - interesting menu and the food produced was first class. Best attraction is the roof top bar which gives a panoramic view of LA. Valet parking very efficient.
Would not recommend staying at Venice Beach. The beach itself is beautiful but the boardwalk is pretty depressing. The area is full of homeless people sleeping rough who kept us awake at night rummaging through the skips beneath our bedroom window. Best to just visit Venice Beach for the experience and find a nicer place to stay in LA.
The location and view are perfect. The rooftop café is great.
The vibe at the rooftop is too decadent (bracelets to enter and lost of tabels reserved, but still empty when we left). Only one lift is a bit meagre.
The location was very good for a few days down at Venice Beach. After the problem with our room and we were moved to a much better room (for a fee), the comfort level was good.
Parking was expensive $35/day inc tax. We booked a room based on the photos here on booking.com. The room we got was NOTHING like the photos. We complained and they said we could get the room in the photos for the following nights but not the night we checked in, and for the change we had to pay an extra $50 / night. The photos also implied a full kitchenette - stove burners, cooking utensils, etc, and that was not at all the case (and local eateries were expensive). It had a microwave, coffee maker, and mini-fridge, and thats all. I would not stay here again.
