This was a good value compared with other hotels we looked at in the price range -- safe and quiet location on the marina, reasonably clean (if dated) room.
The breakfast is lacking (but given the price of the room this wasn't a deal breaker). The bathroom needs updating (peeling paint, toilet installed on an angle).
The staff was helpful and very pleasant. The location was excellent, secluded and very quiet.
To me, the bed was uncomfortable.
I loved the location, felt very safe.
The internet didn't work at all!
Marina Village Inn is located conveniently in Alameda close to major highways, yet it is far enough away from all the noise that you really feel secluded. I managed to drive to Oakland airport in under 20 minutes on a Monday morning at 7 am. It is right on the water and is quite peaceful in the evenings. The room was spacious, had a view and had a fantastic bathroom.
The breakfast choices were kind of poor and lacking in variety. There was coffee and your standard bagel but not much else.
affordable and great location
The patio room next to the docks and the marina it made a perfect romantic evening. We had a sponataneous get away convenient location and setting were perfect.
Breakfast could have been better.
Location was excellent right on the marina. Front desk people are great very friendly and helpful.
old facility air condition was loud, rooms needs to be up dated.Stated breakfast included this is not a full breakfast its more of a continental. This place is one step lower than a Motel 6 because of the age factor.
The location by the yacht club was lovely. There were walkways and beautiful flowers along with a view of magnificent sailboats. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and the morning breakfast. This facility was perfect for us as we were able to take the ferry boat to the Giants game and to San Francisco so avoided the hassle of driving in the city.
This hotel is quite dated and there aren't a lot of amenities. Coffee was not replaced when room was cleaned. Since there was only one person at the desk trying to help numerous guests the wait for assistance was sometimes up to ten minutes for help.
It was very hot and the room I was given the air conditioner seemed to not have as much cold air as I prefer so the front desk automatically switched rooms and were very helpful. When I switched rooms I accidentally left a suit bag in the first room and didn't Even realize it until the next morning. I rushed to the front desk and told them my situation and they helped me retrieve my bag from the first room. Excellent
soiled duvet cover grotty carpets need of a good upgrade
Nice location by Marina and it has a pool. Friendly and helpful staff
Too far to walk to ferry or BART or other public transport. Spent a lot on taxis
View to the marina.
Noise. Room was not clean and stink too. Thin walls. Breakfast is a joke.
Location Special rate Accessibility to local sites and my conference
Desk staff was unwelcoming Hot water was actually warm water for tea Use of styrofoam instead of environmental friendly receptacles
refrigarator was not working, air conditioning did not work. Window screen fell off for no reason. In each case the staff was rude and did not seen to care. I fixed the fridge and the air went un touched for the week. I cancellec my return stay the was scheduled for the week after.
Absolutely nothing to like.
You won't be able to sleep at all. The mattress was actually a box spring. I want a full refund asap.
Love being close to the water and place felt safe
Not much. View of the water was very nice, parking was easy and ice machine worked.
Shower dripped all night (no other rooms were available), shower floor was disgusting, bed terrible, pillows flat, an already chewed piece of gum was on the lamp base, I think the maid forgot to vacuum. Room just was not clean!
These rooms need to be remodeled and my air conditioner was held together with electrical tape. There was also blood on the rug by the bathroom.
Smelled, Dirty, Room had a terrible odor, light's in room burned out, did not check in, or stay at this hotel.
Got a great deal on the price. Loved that the room had fridge, microwave, everything I needed. Loved that breakfast was included. Free on site parking was awesome. Nice colors and decor. Easy access to downtown Oakland. Overall very pleasant experience.
Door key card only worked after putting it in and out numerous times. The mattress was too hard. The wifi signal was weak at the desk in my room (211) so I had to stand by the door to get emails to send. The woman at the desk when I checked out was very cold and unfriendly. The fridge or something in the wall made a constant rattling/humming noise.
Dirty sheets the first night and we had to change them ourselves. Dirty and broken courtains. Broken wardrobe. Poor breakfast. Swimingpool closed. Poor wifi conection. Toll to get to San Francisco (4-6$ per day) One day we spent two hours to get to San Francisco because of the traffic. Staff not helpful at all and not willing to give us any advice about places to visit in San Francisco, they just did not know anything about the city besides the Golden Gate. The last day we went for breakfast and when we come back to our room and try to open the door both keys were already inactivated (very unkind)
I liked the location of the hotel. It's minutes away from San Francisco at a very affordable price. I also like that it had free parking and a complimentary "breakfast". Even though bagels and cereal is not your ideal breakfast, it's better than nothing.
The refrigerator made this annoying sound which made it difficult to fall asleep. You can also hear your neighbors which are separated by a door. Not to mention that the plumbing was not good. However, I appreciated that they immediately sent someone over to fix our toilet.
Basics was OK Clean room
Renovation needed in bathroom Breakfast was poor (both quality and service) WiFi access was not always available
The staff who was on duty in the reception on the night of august 9th 2014 was rude and unfriendly.
It smelled bad
