soiled duvet cover grotty carpets need of a good upgrade
View to the marina.
Noise. Room was not clean and stink too. Thin walls. Breakfast is a joke.
refrigarator was not working, air conditioning did not work. Window screen fell off for no reason. In each case the staff was rude and did not seen to care. I fixed the fridge and the air went un touched for the week. I cancellec my return stay the was scheduled for the week after.
Love being close to the water and place felt safe
These rooms need to be remodeled and my air conditioner was held together with electrical tape. There was also blood on the rug by the bathroom.
Smelled, Dirty, Room had a terrible odor, light's in room burned out, did not check in, or stay at this hotel.
Got a great deal on the price. Loved that the room had fridge, microwave, everything I needed. Loved that breakfast was included. Free on site parking was awesome. Nice colors and decor. Easy access to downtown Oakland. Overall very pleasant experience.
Door key card only worked after putting it in and out numerous times. The mattress was too hard. The wifi signal was weak at the desk in my room (211) so I had to stand by the door to get emails to send. The woman at the desk when I checked out was very cold and unfriendly. The fridge or something in the wall made a constant rattling/humming noise.
Dirty sheets the first night and we had to change them ourselves. Dirty and broken courtains. Broken wardrobe. Poor breakfast. Swimingpool closed. Poor wifi conection. Toll to get to San Francisco (4-6$ per day) One day we spent two hours to get to San Francisco because of the traffic. Staff not helpful at all and not willing to give us any advice about places to visit in San Francisco, they just did not know anything about the city besides the Golden Gate. The last day we went for breakfast and when we come back to our room and try to open the door both keys were already inactivated (very unkind)
I liked the location of the hotel. It's minutes away from San Francisco at a very affordable price. I also like that it had free parking and a complimentary "breakfast". Even though bagels and cereal is not your ideal breakfast, it's better than nothing.
The refrigerator made this annoying sound which made it difficult to fall asleep. You can also hear your neighbors which are separated by a door. Not to mention that the plumbing was not good. However, I appreciated that they immediately sent someone over to fix our toilet.
Basics was OK Clean room
Renovation needed in bathroom Breakfast was poor (both quality and service) WiFi access was not always available
The staff who was on duty in the reception on the night of august 9th 2014 was rude and unfriendly.
It smelled bad
My husband and I were on our way from Ventura to our brother in laws mothers funeral in Santa Rosa. Due to work we weren't able to leave until well after 5 pm; so we decided to book a room so we could take our time and not worry about waking up my sister and BIL as the next day was going to be very difficult for them. We booked the room and let the hotel know we would be there very late and they were fine with it, which is the only positive of the entire experience. About 2 hours later I got a call that the fire department and an ambulance were at my mother's house, which is where our kids were. Naturally, I thought the worst and when I couldn't get a hold of anyone we turned around to head back home. At that point we cancelled our room reservation. After we explained what happened they said they couldn't refund us because they could have reserved that room for someone else so they need to make up for their potential loss. We didn't argue. At that point we were emotionally drained. About an hour later we got a call that it was my uncle, he had a heart attack and he was stable. After contemplating whether we should keep heading home or turn back around in Buellton; we made the decision to turn around because our kids were now safely at my mother in laws house and we needed to be there for my sister and brother. We called the hotel and asked if we could re book a room. We were told that in the hour after we cancelled, all of their rooms were booked up and they couldn't do anything for us! Well, then refund us our money because obviously you rebooked our room and now you have double payment for one room! Nope. My husband and I own two small businesses and we understand that rules are there for a reason; however, we do not let greed dictate our ability to make compassionate exceptions. If in reality all 4-6 rooms that were available on Bookings.
Location and Price were good. I didn't want to spend the money on a hotel in San Francisco and this was a value. The hotel staff were very nice and also very helpful with tourist information. One desk clerk gave us directions to the ferry into San Fran that were spot on.
I just felt that it was a bit shabby. If they would just invest a few bucks in sprucing up the place it would be fantastic. The bed was horrible. So uncomfortable. I woke up each day with a stiff back that took a few hours to work the kinks out of. If you have a bad back like me, pass on this hotel. It wasn't worth it. Also, the air conditioning didn't work and I mentioned it to the desk clerk and no one bothered to come and look at it. When we went to try to get it on ourselves we found a box fan tucked behind a chair so obviously it was a known issue. But really a few bucks investment would really pay off for this place. Overall, if you have a tight budget you will be okay here. Location was safe, the marina is very pretty and it is super close (driving) to the Ferry. Free parking at the ferry site and lots of tourists take the ferry. It was really safe and the ferry captains are very helpful with directions etc. Definitely the way to see San Fran. So glad we didn't take the car in and try to park.
Nice view of the water.
My "non-smoking" room wreaked of smoke. The couch had slashes in it. The mirrors had stuff on them. The whole place was ghetto. The walls are paper thin. I could hear and smell my neighbors (pot smoke). The doors are old and janky. Every time someone closes their door, it slams and is insanely loud. The building is beyond old and feels more like an apartment building than a hotel. If you don't mind staying in a ghetto place, then this will do. Just beware of the above mentioned things.
When we arrived, the desk informed us that there were no more standard rooms, like the one we had booked, so instead, they upgraded us to a waterfront suite for no extra charge! We were thrilled and thoroughly enjoyed the private deck that faced the water. It was accessed by a sliding glass door that we left open for most of the night. It ended up being a cozy, romantic retreat that we weren't expecting. What a total gem of a spot. The quiet, peaceful privacy was priceless. We will most definitely be back. This hotel has reasonable prices, clean rooms, polite staff that doesn't bother you too early. There is also parking (free), microwave/fridge, cable, wifi (a little on the slow side, but who wants to be stuck on the computer while at Marina Village??), a small but adequate continental breakfast, great desk clerks, a clean pool, washer/dryer facilities, comfy beds and pillows, and a splendid view of the boat docks just feet from the sidewalk that surrounds the place. Also walking distance from the bank, groceries, a huge inlet/pond with geese and ducks, and the toiletries provided were from Bath & Body Works. This is a great deal for the price. Enjoy yourself and some peace!
I can't really think of anything.
Small rooms, cold pool,
I loved that it was right on the water and not far from town
The breakfast offered was very poor. It consisted of bagels and coffee. I wasn't expecting some grand lay out for breakfast but even at less expensive places, the continental breakfast includes a little more. The pool didn't look very clean either.
no access to public transportation. would rent a car on my next stay
It was the best deal for the money. The location was great and the room was clean. I like the fact that it wasn't far from San Francisco, as staying in the city would have cost us way more.
Carpet in the bathroom, yuck!
next to marina
air conditioner old, broken. dark.
The old carpet and furnishings.
Not enough options with the breakfast.
Close in to where I needed to meet
Water leak at the shower, appears to have been there forever.... WIFI = NOFI
Nothing to be happy.
We have 3 kids and I booked 1suit and 1 two-queen bed room. When we arrived at the hotel at 2pm,we had the first shock. It is completely different than the pictures.1 of the room was on the other side of the hotel, the other was on the opposite side. Also they told us that they do not have two queen bed bedroom. The rooms are very dirty, the blankets were ripped and there were lots of blue dots on the pillows and the bed.they say that they have breakfast but they have nothing except than one kind of cornflakes, donut and coffee.the people working were not friendly and helpful.do not try...
