The hotel looks high class and professional. Clean and comfort. Staffs are nice and they have happy hours for drinks but I missed twice because it is 4-6pm. People usually would not be in hotel during this time.
The bathroom is to smell!
The daily happy hour with Jerome on the piano is great.
Great entrance/lobby, friendly and very helpful staff, clean and very well maintained. Really does have a "club" atmosphere.
Location perfect for the conference we were there to attend.
Hotel is going through a refurbishment at the moment, breakfast was in a different location on several occasions, and one morning, no hot food service at all. WiFi signal poor, this needs improving.
I knew the hotel was a marines hotel/club but it did resemble a museum. Once you get past that the rooms, staff and service are excellent.
Gym is great, free breakfast and afternoon cocktails were very good
Pricey due to conference going on.
The breakfast was delicious. The staff was helpful.
The air conditioner did not work. The bathroom was tiny with no counter top for toiletries etc. The hot water faucet handle fell off. We were compensated for these issues. But they were very inconvienent nonetheless.
Excellent location just off Union Square, within easy walking distance of shops, cable car etc., and about 25 minutes walk to Fishermans Wharf. 12th floor restaurant with great views over city and a free happy 2 hours for cocktails each evening. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free laundry facilities were useful if on a long road trip.interesting Marine memorabilia on all floors.
Nothing, except room a little on the small side and lack of sockets for charging iPads, phones etc.
Clean Breakfast is realy good compared with any other US hotels. Staff are kind and helpful Location is near to every attractions and safe.
Rooms are old and need renovation
Breakfast and Happy Hour
No public lounge area
Location - ok. Close to Union Square, right next to a lovely Italian restaurant (try it!), a short walk away from the financial district. On the other hand, the dreaded Tenderloin district is also just a couple of blocks away, so watch where you are going, especially in the dark. If you do not mind walking, you can easily get to the Marina District, Presidio etc. in around 45 minutes. The complimentary breakfast was really nice. WiFi (and wired, there is a cable by the desk) was fairly intermittent - we had multiple devices, all with similar issues for nearly a week. Constant 25-50% packet loss for technically inclined. Yet, with everything taken into account, if you are looking for a place to stay at for a few days in that part of San Francisco, this is a good deal.
It's a hotel dedicated to us Marines and veterans. Bear this in mind if you are not in the military, and especially if you are in your 20s or so. As a young, professional, but non-military couple, we often felt reaaaally out of place and uncomfortable getting weird looks from retirees in the restaurant etc. Or being asked by staff to show our room key every time we went up for breakfast (that's after spending 5+ days there), when other guests were not being bothered at all. You will also get a note asking what tip you'd like to leave once you finish eating - that's for pouring you some coffee which you can get yourself. Rather cheeky. Finally, the hotel is very old and there was a lot of noise from outside. It's San Francisco, but all those honks and sirens combined with old wooden windows will be a major pain if you are a light sleeper.
The included breakfast was really incredible. We were missing the breakfast burritos at every other spot we stayed!! The room was lovely, and we would absolutely stay there again! It was interesting to see all of the history as well.
The bathroom was a little dirty. Hair from other people in the shower and on the blow dryer. There was some mold on the ceiling as well, right above the shower. Wasn't awful and certainly not a huge issue, but a little surprising since the rest of the hotel was so beautiful.
The bed was super comfy. Best I've slept on. Location was perfect to almost everything in San Fran and staff were good.
Great beakfast; friendly, happy, free drinks bar every afternoon; nice linens, white towels and coffeemaker
The small shower stall
Fantastic helpful and friendly staff, great location in the city, included breakfast and afternoon happy hour drinks were fantastic (try all the craft beers on offer!). The room was compact, but more than sufficient, and very clean and well serviced. For the amount of money that can be spent on a hotel in San Francisco, you can't really get any better than Marines' Memorial.
Even for a large city, the room was exceptionally noisy. The windows, despite being double glazed, are very old and do not seal properly. Earplugs are required for a good night's sleep, but this is pretty normal for me for a large city like San Fran, New York etc.
Overall we enjoyed this hotel the most from our American trip. After staying in Hollywood, Anaheim and Vegas we didn't expect too much from this hotel but we're blown away by the cleanliness and friendly 'homely' feeling of the hotel. Facilities were fantastic and food exceptional.
the library breakfast buffet location business center
variability in staff attitude, especially in restaurant and at "happy hour"
Breakfast was incredible, location excellent, and room size great
Staff were not very help full or friendly
The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast that was included was great, especially the omlettes. Good location.
The rooms were on the larger side and the Marine history made it unlike any other we'd stayed in. Breakfast was great, and the cocktail hour was ok, though we found it had to get service.
The bathroom needed updating and was claustrophobic. We were well outside the demographic of the other guests (we were much younger) and felt like they were looking down on us.
price for S.F is good happy hour 4 to 6 free drinks pet friendly
rooms small hotel needs updating had blogged sink in bathroom, and blogged bath tub - repaired quickly
Staff always kind and available to help you, the location, parking (paying) close to the hotel. Breakfast is very good and at 12th floor with a great lendscape.
Old furniture in the room and bad smell. The room was noisy.
Restaurant on the top floor.
The hotel is very well situated, in Union Square. The staff is very nice.
The room are a little bit old and noisy.
Everything was better than I expected given the price which belies the hotel standards. The room, location, staff friendliness and helpfulness couldn't be faulted and I was so pleased that this was the hotel I stayed at. I really recommend the MMH (the cocktail hour and bath robe were a real treat!!)
