Location Breakfast Staff Accomodations
Beautiful property, very friendly staff, we had an excellent time!
The breakfast was delicious, the room was very comfortable, and the staff was great. Chef/ owner Mark was very kind and outgoing.
Charming building, good location, very good breakfast
No tv in the room (they provide an iPad with some movies on it, but without saying or explaining anything about it), very, very noisy room, both the bed and the building itself. A few plugs in the room. Too many cons of the price we paid.
The Inn itself was beautiful and perfectly located just far enough away from the high traffic areas but close enough to make it a very nice walk to Thames St. The staff could not have been nicer and the breakfast in the morning was great.
We liked everything, the location, ambiance, breakfast. Will go again.
Atmosphere, relaxing in the deck. Home baked cookies and scones in the afternoon! Fabulous breakfasts.
Everything, the house itself, the staff, the decor, the peaceful nature of the whole experience,it was just lovely!
The inn was kept absolutely immaculate. We stayed in the cottage in the back yard. It looked like it had just been renovated inside. King size bed. Shower was nice and big. The grounds were beautiful, from the porch swing, to the adirondack chairs on the lawn to the beautiful back deck where my husband and I ate a made to order breakfast by the chef/owner Mark. He was very friendly to us and chatted for a while during breakfast. We left our car at the Inn as it was only about a 10-15 minute walk into Bowen's Wharf through the beautiful streets of Newport. This Inn was a gem. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Newport. Delicious coffee and homemade cookies were an added treat!
We couldn't figure out how to properly work the remote for the air conditioner (changing temperature when it got too cold) but that wasn't the Inn's fault... no real complaints.
Breakfast was excellent. Outdoor patio and verandas. Room was spacious and airy.
Very friendly staff; great breakfast; great location; lots of parking.
Welcoming staff and helpful for chosing restaurants, tours, etc. Great choice and quality for breakfast. The harbour is less than a 10-minute walk. Bicycle rental on site appreciated.
Noisy in the morning due to plumbing.
Loved the location; walked to town every day. Loved the breakfasts; variety and flavor Loved the Cottage room we stayed in Loved the historical setting and cleanliness Loved the friendly staff Loved the quiet, efficient AC in our room
Even with the AC on, our clothes got a little smelly from the humidity; not the fault of the Inn, but the climate.
The Marshall Slocum Inn combines warm hospitality with very comfortable rooms and a truly delicious breakfast. Located on a pleasant, tree-lined street a short walk from the heart of Newport's shopping district, it is a really good base for tourism or even business travel. Amazingly, it even has ample parking!
Very charming appearance. Good parking lot. Good breakfast. Good air conditioning. Great location - close to the downtown, but in a nice, peaceful spot.
No TV in room. Did not like lugging suitcase down 3 flights of stairs. Would not stay there again if had to take room on the top floor.
Mark the owner made you feel most welcome from the moment we arrived to us leaving. Cooked breakfast was superb . Definetely the nicest place we stayed at during our 2 week vist to USA
The decor, the grounds, breakfast, location, service.
A lovely B&B beautifully furnished, like stepping back in time but with all the mode cons. Fantastic freshly prepared breakfast served in a lovely outdoor decking area, can highly recommend the Chef's omelette. Good local information from owner and staff on where to eat and visit. Coastal wildlife centre walks are a must, all in all a lovely stay.
The breakfast was phenomenal.
Needed instructions on how to use the IPad.
We liked the people, the great location, and the nice breakfast.
I would have liked a TV in the room, but they have one in the parlour.
Relaxed atmosphere Nothing too much trouble Excellent location Comfortable room
Staff was pleasant, attentive, helpful, knowledgeable Breakfast was awesome, with many choices, and afternoon snacks were varied and delicious Location is convenient to everything, in a lovely, quiet neighborhood Deck, back yard, front porch - all inviting and comfortable
Not one thing!
Well located, well appointed b&b in Newport. Comfortable rooms, with comfortable bathroom and walk-in clóset in floor level; no TV but iPad with Netflix provided. With big and safe on-site parking lot. Owner himself prepares hearty breakfast from a menu. Nice experience having bkfst with other guests in large table. Much better than staying at a large, impersonal hotel.
Did not have a complaint, though would have loved to have the choice of a King size Bed.
Food was amazing! Honestly most delicious breakfast over probably ever had. Well worth the price of the room. Great package and perfect location.
Can't think of too much. The good def outweighed the not so bad.
Pretty old Inn
