Comfortable room, clean Friendly staff
Still undergoing renovation in the lobby area, but the hotel has promise
1)The hotel lobby is under MAJOR RENOVATION! Call before you make a reservation... 2)The location is pretty good with great restaurants and bars all around the hotel. 3)The soon to open new restaurant in the lobby "The Martha" look very nice!
The hotel is under MAJOR RENOVATION! no lobby, no bar and no restaurant... we had to get in and out through the back of the hotel, fight our way between the construction workers and ladders to the elevators. I booked an upgrade room "Deluxe King Room" not bad, but not very deluxe and on the small side for an upgrade room. The bathroom was nice, but small and the shower door was not very efficient, the furniture was so so with no print or art on the walls and no king bed!... like I said, not bad, but not very boutique hotel! On the flip side, the last night I was there, I had a quick look at the new, soon to open restaurant "The Martha" in the lobby of the hotel and it look very nice!
Location of the hotel was good. I had conner superior king room with the city view. Bright, clean room (the size was just enough for 2 people). The bed was comfortable. Bathroom had walk-in shower. Staff is extremely friendly & helpful.
Currently this hotel undergoing big renovation in the lobby. While check-in you can feel dust in the air. Noise from the street during night hours, could not sleep, woke up with headache. Bathroom is on a smaller size. No mini bar in the room.
The location was very good, within walking distance from bars, penn station, shopping district and restaurants. The rooms were clean and tidy. The free wi if helped as well.
The staff were average, fair but not friendly. I went to check in at 4pm and was told I had to wait until my room was ready. The downstairs is under going renovation, so all covered up, although this didn't bother me that much.
comfortable, clean bed
Hotel is located really close to empire State, had no problem finding. Room was very small, but nice. The best restroom i have seen in a hotel.
Wasn't informed about renovation of the hotel. Had to walk around the block to get inside.
Staff very helpful in solving problems. Bathroom spacious. Appreciated the narrow shelf table by the bed. Great solution.
No decent coffee in lobby. No info in room on hotel practices. Room looked entirely different online.
the location is very good
the hotel lobby is under constrution
the price location free wifi clean luxury toiletries
construction in lobby (having to use multiple elevators to exit hotel) issues finding the entrance due to the construction (this wasn't obvious on my reservation) Poor installation of shower handle (it popped off and nearly hit my foot) Loud restaurant patrons outside until 2am (making a ton of noise easily heard from 5th floor room)
Cleanness and location. Other than that, nothing special about this hotel during the renovation work going on.
Stayed in the standard queen room for 5 nights. The room smelled like cigarette. Construction work starting very early in the morning. Porter asking tips for just doing his job. I travel to NYC a few times in a year and don't recommend to stay here especially until it's completely renovated.
- Very plain room, with zero charm - overall design of the room, hallway, temporary lobby. - the hotel's main lobby was being renovated so all there was to this hotel was just the temporary lobby, hallway to the rooms and your room.
The staff was very nice and the room was rather comfortable.
The entrance was still undergoing restoration works as such there was dust and more noise than would be desirable.
Bed was comfortable Wifi was excellent. Rooms were clean.
Approach through 29th is not the best if walking. Didn't have coffee in room. Didn't have glasses for water in room (supposedly due to renos.) but that was lame. Rooms are not very big.
location and staff
The rooms are really small, they don't have a restaurant for breakfast and the entrance was under construction so we had to use the back entrance that was not very nice.
Comfortable bed, good location, reasonably priced for NYC
Location, room and bed comfort, wifi, very clean even in the middle of renovations.
Doesn't have restaurant working right now, it would have been nice have breakfast included.
I liked the open Wi-fi, the clean room and the location of the hotel.
The renovation of the lobby (it was disclosed in the booking process), the small closet, no minibar in the room.
Location, friendly enough
it is a building site and very claustrophobic. Booking.com should tell me that before I reserve the room, so that I have the choice to go elsewhere.
too small room
The staff was helpful, the room was very clean and so all the premises. Even the elevators smell had a lovely citrus scent! The room was comfortable, the queen bed was soft and lovely. However, the room size was a little small; but that's NYC. Finally, the location was perfect.
I didn't understeand why was there a courtesy boiler but no coffe or tea...
Under construction and no communication about its state prior to booking. Hard to find entrance.
The staff tried, but it is tough to deal with renovations (especially when the guests are not expecting that).
Unfortunately I did not know that the hotel was undergoing a major renovation that essentially made it a work zone (was not noted on Booking.com). Hard to know how it will be when done but based on this stay I'd say if you can afford a bit more you can have a much better experience at the Dream, Standard, Gansevoort, etc.
The location of the hotel is perfect, centre Midtown Manhattan, 2 blocks away from a subway, close to the Empire State Building and many restaurants and bars. We had a Superior Queen Room and that was much bigger than a Standard Room, i would defenitely reccomend this one! I liked the bathroom with rain shower, the big and soft bed, the space.
When we first entered the room we heard a loud fan noise from outside. Thankfully these fans went on and off on regular times, so that when we were present in our room in the evening, they were usually left off. During our sleep we weren't bothered with the noise. Due to the renovations going on in the hotel, there was no bar at the time of our stay, but we weren't hassled by the works by all means.
