Weel situated, nice room.
Very noisy. Avoid this place if you want to sleep. Doors are not soundproof, so you hear everything from the corridor. I pay more than 300$ per night and didn't sleep because people were coming to their room in the middle of the night talking to each othe. Cleaning staff is starting between 5 and 6 am, so I heard everybody going to pick their things on my floor. 2 cleaning lady even start to speack loudly right in front on my door at 6 am on Saturday morning. Also, be careful, they try to charge you mini bar stuff even if you didn't take anything. Nobody came to clean my room when I was there, I had to ask for clean towels because nobody came, but then the next day, they were trying to bill me 12$ saying that the cleaning lady wrote that I drink one alcohol bottle (that of course I didn't drink).
My husband and I were celebrating out 37th Wedding Anniversary and we were treated like and King and a Queen when we told them. Especially helpful were Daisy and Ngomza who went out of their way for us. The room was exquisite and the mattress was the most comfortable, In fact we want to call the hotel to ask what brand it was. Great location too.
Everything was perfect.
I enjoyed staying at Matha Washington. The location was very central but it was not that noisy and touristic. I was given a room on the 11/F which was even more tranquil. The minimal design of the room was good for a relatively tiny space and I was happy to have a room with the view of the Empire State Building. One had to really think on how to make the best use of of the limited space but I still managed to lay a yoga mat on the floor when I was not managing my two big luggage. The reception desk was chic and helpful and the room service staff were efficient and friendly. I didn't eat at the restaurant-bar on the G/F but I found their coffee excellent (one of the best during this trip).
While I could download my work files and check Facebook posts with ease with the free basic internet, I did hope that they did not need to charge me extra for a smooth connection watching a couple of Youtube videos.
the bed was very comfy, quiet room, got a good night's sleep, hard to get out of bed in the morning; fast free WiFi
a coffee maker in the room would be nice
cosy room is a tiny room but enough to stay a night for a business single.
Nothing except the fantastic restaurant in the lobby and the location.
The unfriendly unhelpful staff. The dirty stained hideous old carpeting in the halls and room. The dark gray walls. The fact that residents still live there - two doors down was a crudely written sign on the door warning people to keep out. No wastebasket shower cap poorly designed bathroom with ugly brown tile. A thoroughly depressing place - some 'renovation,'
Housekeeping - We had dirty towels and were missing towels, and instead of removing the old ones, placed the new towels on top of the old ones. Doorman/Bellboy - Even with 2 available, weren't holding doors. Lack of amenities - No Coffee/Tea maker Huge minibar - Considering the hotel cost and lack of other amenities, this was very insulting
Hotel holds deposit 500$ two weeks after my two days stay. No breakfast.
cleanliness, helpful staff , location , easy access to most places in manhattan
high priced ( although i secured a fair deal through booking.com)
Modern style Clean Nice bar-restaurant Convenient bed and bathroom Location, very close to metro/subway Starbucks around the corner (as everywhere in Manhattan...)
I had a room at the street-side and during one of the nights there was a lot of noise. The other night it was fine Small room, but OK as I was alone
Location Room and common areas Staff
Breakfast offering could be better and more taylored to hotel guests vs external customers of the restaurant
Almira, at the frontdesk; she was wonderful in my two stays at the hotel
The stay was great.
Great location, clean, comfortable and nicely designed rooms.
Lobby very loud with no place to sit down and chill if not sitting at the restaurant or bar. When we looked at our bill we found out that we were charged hundreds of dollars at the lobby restaurant (Marta), which we never stepped into, and a few dollars at the minibar, which we never used. The mistake was corrected, but it did take time and speaking with the manager. I should note that the staff was very friendly and apologetic.
In general great hotel.. bar one staff member the rest were great. New restaurant is excellent.
Poor response when l made a staff member aware that the wifi in room 539 was weak.
We have stayed at the Martha Washington a few times because the price and location fit our budget well.
The service at the hotel is truly it's downfall. I've called down for restaurant, delivery and pharmacy recommendations-all of which were answered with "I'm not really sure" or "I would just go walk around and see." That last one was my favorite...at 11:30pm. It takes 15 minute a for them to bring checked bags out and just seems like everyone who works there is trying to be seen, instead of helping guests.
Clean, Roomsize (Kingbed), Quiet (11th floor), Location (if you're into walking a bit you can walk to MSG, Port Auth, Times Sq, Grand Central...), very close to Subw6, nice restaurant in the lobby.
Wifi Login could be improved
Manager stepped in right away to help as we were lining for check in. Staffs were helpful and professional including the young door person we met on 06Nov evening Concierge lady was very friendly and helpful
Through a narrow hallway to reception compare with the great services n facilities makes it kinda not balance. Drinks and snacks supply in a room without fridge seems odd.
Good humoured interesting staff with genuine personal service
no coffee machine or kettle in bedroom
Beds were excellent
No light above bathroom mirror, no cupboards or sideboards in bathroom
Best gym in a hotel I have seen.
No hot water
the cleanliness or lack of the noise
location was great, proximity to public transportation was good, great walking all around there, good value for NYC.
The bed was very comfortable
The entrance was very busy and not easy to access with a bag
Very spacious room (Deluxe Room) and good value for money (special deal). Bed was amazingly comfy but made it even harder to get up. Complimentary Wi-Fi is good.
Would have appreciated some tea/coffee facilities in the room. Café/Restaurant is a little expensive and could have better breakfast menu
