The Staff was helpful and courteous. The room was beautiful. We enjoyed muffins and scones while relaxing at tea time on the patio. Breakfast was served promptly so we could get to the airport on time. We were able to walk to dinner and enjoy the beautiful scenery. A perfect ending to our East Coast adventure.
Lovely B&B, great breakfast, very clean and nice room and bath.
We were on the 3rd floor with no elevator so if you have mobility issues you need to ask for a lower floor.
Travelling quite a bit, I'm bored of the chain hotels so I prefer to find individual, family-run places to stay and this fitted the bill perfectly. About 6 miles from Logan, we got there off a late flight before 10pm and had a surprisingly restful night and were treated to a wonderful breakfast before heading off for our holiday proper. Would definitely stay there again. Not knowing Cambridge at all, I relied on GPS to get me to the destination, which it did easily. Probably easy to find with a map if you are used to the area.
Limited parking - not a real problem as I parked in the parking lot blocking other cars (by prior arrangement) and left the keys with reception who moved the car when other guests left first.
Quality of decor, furniture and furnishings. The bedding especially was top notch! Room servicing was excellent. Breakfasts and afternoon tea were really tasty and well-presented.
Very intermittent WiFi in my room (18). Squeaky floorboards in this room, which is perhaps to be expected in an historic property, but could perhaps adversely affect the occupants of the room below.
We had to walk to the subway several blocks in the rain when we were ready to leave. They offered umbrellas and told us to think about Mary Prentiss when we used them at home. No need to send back.
excellent breakfast great old house
not enough heat in the room
location great restaurants nearby breakfast staff wifi bathroom bed ambience afternoon tea and cookies
no desk in room; room a little small
Perfect stay. Every detail has been worked out and the thoughtful touches (cold water with lemon in the foyer, coffee ready first thing) and service were unparalleled. Although it looks a bit far on the map, it is convenient to anywhere in Cambridge. A very quiet street and close to the Porter Square T. Tell the taxi around 1700 Mass Ave in Cambridge.
The room was lovely and spotless, with all the comforts of home, so that was all good. My only complaint is the old-fashioned house does not have enough lighting, so the room was quite dim in the evening and at night. The comfortable bed and cleanliness and abundance of pillows more than made up for this, though.
Tremendously helpful staff Breakfast to die for Park the car-do Boston by subway
Charming, comfortable inn with a great staff and great location. So much better than local hotels for families or business travelers.
Great place, clean as could be. Old charm. Amazing garden out back to have breakfast (don't get me started on how great the food was!) I loved how you choose your time for breakfast. We checked out and were able to keep out luggage there, gotta love that.
Location wasn't awful it was about a 5 mins walk form the train but then another 15 into Boston. The hotel was not really walking distance for going to see Harvard or the Charles. The b&b should provide bikes and locks for guests.
Staff excellent and friendly. They go above and beyond. Decor was gorgeous. History of Mary Prentiss Inn impressive.
Last year, I couldn't keep my reservations because a familymemeber was diagnosed with cancer and I couldn't keep the reservations. I wanted my money back and the reservation cancelled. I was told the your policy is you do not reimburse cancellations. Even thought everything was exemplary, I will not refer anyone to Mary Prentiss Inn. That's my policy.
Had to leave early so no breakfast as before 8am. Fair enough but I hadn't eaten since 8pm the night before and hungry - part of the cost too.
Lovely staff, knowledgable about the area. Beautiful setting, with the deck tucked away from street noise. Afternoon tea was a welcome break.
In-room air conditioner was as loud as what you'd experience at a road-side motel. This likely wouldn't be a problem most of the time in Boston's climate.
Tea! Breakfast in the garden room. The garden. Lovely sense of place.
Having to leave after just one night!
Decorations of room and lobby. Nice employees. Charging possibilities in lobby
Room was half of the space of the two last times i visited MPI.
really lovely inn with all the nice touches you have a hard time finding...the afternoon tea and fabulous home made cookies...the tasty breakfast....the charming courtyard with beautiful plantings which carried over to the front of the establishment.
Room and ensuite spotless. Breakfast and afternoon tea very good. Lovely outside area to sit and relax
Our room was in a noisy position. We were woken up very early by both staff and other people moving about. Room 3 would not be acceptable if we visited again.
Loved the afternoon tea! Also, breakfast out on their beautiful back porch, filled with gorgeous flowers, was a greasy way to start the day.
charming and great location near Harvard
Close to T-stop & many amenities near Porter Square. Perfectly nice Inn. Quiet, comfortable. Really friendly, helpful staff.
Breakfast was a little slow, because only one person was trying to handle everybody.
Location. Afternoon tea and breakfast.
Noise. I was on the ground floor (known in the USA as the 1st floor, I believe) right by the front door and next to the kitchen. The staff seemed to be preparing breakfast from about 6 am. There was also a lot of noise, moving furniture etc from about 6:30. So I recommend that you ask for a room on the second floor to avoid any noise.
Quiet, home-like, with beautiful rooms. Parking on location. Enjoyed breakfast on the deck.
Beautifully decorated and perfectly staffed. A great location too.
