Score from 232 reviews Excellent
The rooms are huge and, overall, well equipped.
Coconut Grove isn't a bad area, but you'll end up spending half of your time (and a lot of money) either waiting for cabs who don't venture there very often, or stuck in traffic while in the cab between there and Downtown / Miami Beach. Staff is really unhelpful (our luggage was lost by the airline at MIA: frontdesk staff plainly refused to call the airline to check the status of the luggage during the day (saying it wasn't their job - first time I've heard that in a hotel in this price range), and we had to re-explain the situation every time there was a shift change as these guys wouldn't bother pass the information on. They wouldn't lend us a phone charger (what they do is send you over to a CVS like 10 blocks away, under a pouring rain, without telling you it closes at night...). The valet / taxi stand guy would try to sell a Limo ride with some business acquaintance every time we asked him to actually call a cab. Beware of the "jacuzzi in the room" : there's one, but having it filled up is an extra... Overall, poor location and bad level of service.
The hotel is a gorgeous place and the spa services that I got to try were indeed phenomenal.
On the first night we decided to request room service. Checked the menu, found what we liked and ordered. We were told it will be about 30'. Instead an hour passes and we still had no food. I call to enquire and was told the ticket never went through because we requested for items that were not in the dinner menu (although the menu catalogue stated that they serve all-day breakfast in the room). So anyways after a long discussion about how the staff should have informed us that the items we were ordering could not be ordered for dinner, instead of just cancelling our order and the director of the restaurant hanging up the phone while we were expressing our complains, the dinner arrived (1.45' later). It was quite good and on the house due to the inconvenience.
I like the decor and the courtyard. The size of the room.
The staff was mediocre and the fire alarm went off at 1 am. Everyone evacuated their rooms and went outside. There was no staff except for the valet. Eventually the valet informed us it was ok to go back inside. Mayfair was posh and big in the 80's but now it has very low class.
the cost of the continental for breakfast.
The room was excellent, very comfortable and clean. The interior of the building is gorgeous, with a very tropical accent.
Staff service. Unhelpful and rude. Bad breakfast. Internet never worked in my room. It was dissapointing to receive all kind of false excuses from the staff. Check in and out were sort of "bothering" the staff with it.
The Hotel is old and needs to be remodeled
The entire experience was very exceptional
Everything was wonderful !
Size of room and huge jacuzzi
The view of the Bay from the rooftop pool, Coco Walk, and the Art Show.
We felt the food & drinks were overpriced. The full-length mirror in the bathroom was cracked and the tub was loaded with dirty hair and the patio hot-tub was old and filthy. The staff left our dirty towels and washcloths in the bathroom tub and did not provide clean ones and left our used coffee mugs and glasses for us to clean. The wifi wrecked our devices!
Location, good breakfast and great restaurant (only if you like Italian food) Nice spa. Very spacious rooms with big beds although the bed was too soft for me.
No curtains in the room made me feel uneasy. Half the elevators were broken so there was always a long wait. Room service was very slow. The Internet was slow and dropped out constantly.
Room was spacious and clean. Even had a tv in the bathroom.
The hotel is excelent, and the little "cuban" styled mall next to it is also awesome. Next to excelent restaurants.
So, I scheduled a wake-up phone call for 4 am and I never received it, almost lost my flight.
Location was lovely
appalling service - we could not get anyone to replace the water that we drank in room (FIJI for $6 a bottle), housekeeping did not replace any of the water in the minibar either, after calling the reception they told us they ran out and there is no way we can get a bottle of water unless we go to a restaurant! The lady on a night shift was the rudest I have ever come across who would not even take an order for the room service ! No one was able to help us with the adapter either and overall very poor experience. The only good thing was the lovely lady who works in the bar and who served us cofee- she could not be more helpful !
I really enjoyed the location and the size of the room was great for three girls. Walking distance to everything.
The staff was rude, dismissive and uninformed. The elevators were broken and honestly we felt like we were going to get stuff anytime in them. For the price you would expect MUCH better customer service from the staff.
Walking distance to dining, shopping and movie theater, great location.
Pillows were too soft, would have liked a bit firmer and they were small.
The hotel is more boutique than the big chains. Great food inside and also within walking distance. Rooftop bar and pool perfect for long stay.
The wifi connection was awful to the point I requested a room change. Eventually had to buy a wireless router but the Ethernet doesn't go to the room so that didn't help. If the hotel sorted this out and added a rewards scheme of some sort, it would always beat the Marriott option.
Staff was not very friendly and the shower and faucets were all backed up. Hotel is very old and I would rate this 2 1/2 stars at best. I should've stayed at the courtyard Marriott in Coral Gables is it would've been a much nicer and consistent experience
Let me clarify: there were at least two members of their staff that I was impressed with. The bell hop the night we arrived was a genuinely friendly man and the main vallet guy the next day who complemented my shirt.
The rest of the staff was unremarkable at best and downright rude at worst. We came here in the middle of the night fleeing the abussive hotel management in Homestead, and expected more class for the money. Had an issue with the hot tub and the girl at the desk basically refused to send someone up again. How do these people have jobs?
-beds were comfortable -location was very nice
-no hot water all times,I had to shower most of days with cold water -very expesive for what it had to offer,we paid so much money without breakfast included nor parking..it was just ridiculus -wi fi dissapeared most of times, and was very slow when we had -we asked for a bottle of water in our room which proved to be a very difficult task as we were connected to 10 different lines waiting and finally had to go on our own to get it -generally did not worth the amount of money we spent for it
Location fantastic and the hotel is full of character and charm. The pool area is pretty amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The drinks in the bar were not only v expensive but not very nice either. THe pool bar was being closed up at 4.30 even though was supposed to be open until 8pm. Dont think guests should have to pay for the pods. think it would be nice to try and sort some parking deal with the car park opposite.
The bed was comfortable
The hotel needs to be updated badly. The hotel decor is outdated. The hot tub had no water. The elevator seemed like it was about to die.
Perfectly well located for coconut grove. The breakfast buffet is nice
the room was too humid and had a strong humidity smell. cleanliness of the room was poor. The floor was dusty. Hotel needs some renovation.
