If the heat of the room could be controlled without a very loud air conditioner the place would be ideal for any young couple looking to star in New York.
I liked the location and the service
They charge money for keeping the lugggage for a couple of hours, which i have encountered for the first time.
It was close to our destinations.
Room was incredibly small.
The location! Right on Broadway, around the corner from Times Square. Beautiful old london townhouse style building. Very comfy beds
Heat in the room was crazy, we had to sleep with both windows open all night. Not too sure if it's something to complain about though as it really was freezing out!
The bed wasn't comfort Elevator wasn't working
The staff was great! Courteous and professional...made me feel right at home right away. They couldn't have been any nicer. Room was clean. Yes, small, but it's NYC, who spends time in a room? Great value for the price. Will certainly stay there again.
The location was perfect for the price. We walked to and from Madison Square Garden a few times and it was fine. Even with 2degree weather.
the size of the room was quite small. Needs to be renovated. Would still go back though.
Proximity to activities.
location and free wifi for guests.
great location, friendly staff
Everything was perfect
Very small room, but very nice. 129$ Per night with all tax & fees.
This is an old hotel, which used to cater to actors. Across from it is an actor's chapel, and on the walls, photos of actors like Fred Astaire, H. Bogart, L. Bacall, Gene Kelly, etc, which is nice. The location of the hotel is good, just 3 min walking from Times Square; there are several subway stations nearby, also a big food store, many restaurants, etc. I liked the big screen tv in the room and the Wi-Fi. The bathroom is also nice. Staff was quite helpful. Overall the hotel is acceptable, although the rooms are tiny and the price is high.
This hotel is old, and it shows. They should change the carpeting in the rooms, it looks worn out. Also the bed in my room was uneven, lower on one side. The AC unit is extremely noisy when working. They had a heating problem one night, and without AC the room was very hot. They rooms have no view, you look into a brick wall. The rooms are extremely small, practically only a bed. They should renovate also the elevator, it is ugly, old, and not functioning properly. Maybe this is for all hotels in NY, but to charge 134 $/night (incl all taxes) is too much.
The size and condition of the bathroom does not correspond to a 3-star hotel.
the room was clear, quiet
I was never able to open the door of my room from the first time, twice I had to ask a help.
The location, the confort, the personal and the bath in the bathroom!
A bit noisy (Closed to Times Square)
Hotel looks a bit tired but the hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. Good free wifi.
Inability to control the temperature in the room
I was really pleased with the location, service, cleanliness, and quiet (which is important to me since I'm a light sleeper). The entire staff, including the desk clerks, bellmen, and housekeepers were friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were immaculate. And while small, they were well-equipped with amenities. As a solo traveler this was perfect for me (it might feel a bit snug for a couple, depending on what you're used to; I live in Europe, so it wasn't a big deal). There's also a subway entrance just a block away so it was super convenient to get around the city. I feel like I got a great deal for the money. I would definitely stay there again.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives. The only two things I didn't like were that my room was quite cold (there are no individual heating units in the guest rooms; I just got a cheap space heater at the corner Rite Aid) and that the decor in the public areas, particularly the carpet, was a bit shabby. This is an old, historic hotel though with lots of intimate warmth and charm. So it all felt like part of the experience.
Rooms were frigid (but, to be fair, the weather outside was really cold).
Dirty. Everything is falling apart. The bed is a mattress on a metal frame. Thermostat didn't work. the room was too hot, so we had to open the window and turn on the wall AC (on advise from the front desk ) to keep it down to 70 degrees. The restaurant wasn't open for breakfast on Monday morning.
Very Poor Hospitality, Staff were Rude and not quite friendly nor helpful
Staff is super-friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small but very quaint and very functional and comfortable. Food in the adjacent Bar/Restaurant (Ciello's) is outstanding! Location on 49th Street just off of 8th Avenue is ideal to Times Square and the rest of manhattan via the A C E subway.
Carpet on the stairs is old and treadbare. Bathroom sink cold water faucet leaked. Door latch to bathroom was broken.
Hotel location is very good. The room was not noisy.
Extremely small room, super old furniture. The hotel hall should definitely be renovated.
