This hotel is old, and it shows. They should change the carpeting in the rooms, it looks worn out. Also the bed in my room was uneven, lower on one side. The AC unit is extremely noisy when working. They had a heating problem one night, and without AC the room was very hot. They rooms have no view, you look into a brick wall. The rooms are extremely small, practically only a bed. They should renovate also the elevator, it is ugly, old, and not functioning properly. Maybe this is for all hotels in NY, but to charge 134 $/night (incl all taxes) is too much.
This is an old hotel, which used to cater to actors. Across from it is an actor's chapel, and on the walls, photos of actors like Fred Astaire, H. Bogart, L. Bacall, Gene Kelly, etc, which is nice. The location of the hotel is good, just 3 min walking from Times Square; there are several subway stations nearby, also a big food store, many restaurants, etc. I liked the big screen tv in the room and the Wi-Fi. The bathroom is also nice. Staff was quite helpful. Overall the hotel is acceptable, although the rooms are tiny and the price is high.
