This charming, historic hotel is a block from famous Bourbon Street. A restaurant, the Carousel Bar, and a heated rooftop swimming pool are featured on site.

Melrose Mansion. Terrible management.
Character of the house. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Afternoon wine was a nice touch.
Noise was a big issue. We were in the Burgundy room which has a bar across the street. At 3:00 when the bar let out there was a half hour party in the street. Inside you can hear pretty much everything from the adjacent rooms and even rooms down the hall.
. Availability of room . Photos online . response from inquires . Pleasant phone conversations . Extremely quiet
. Price for location . $350.00/night for paper drinking glasses . No tub. . Doesn't have the NOLA flavor of what NOLA is known for . Extremely quiet . No breakfast or voucher . Dirt in the bottom of the swimming pool . Limited signage, cabby circled twice, light burnt out over numbers . $150.00 deposit after room charge of $350.00/night for "just-in-case" you break something.
Beautiful decor, comfortable bed, top quality all around.
HEaring the water feature running all night outside our suite.
amazing room.. Clean and nicely decorated.. Great friendly staff
Great place we'd gladly stay again. I toured the place and took pics of the other rooms, some of them fully accessible from an elevator. Great pool, wonderful afternoon wine hour but the breakfast could use some better choices - yoghurt was almost inedible. Beds are fine if you like a firm mattress. We stayed for 5 nights and would have preferred a "pillow top" choice. Location is perfect, just outside the French quarter and we were accidentally near the best places for music including "The Spotted Cat" - Nola's true roots in a non-smoking environment.
Breakfast options were pretty bad even if you're desperate - (get a better choice on yogurt!) Bed was somewhat hard. Otherwise perfect!
Not a huge hotel, more private. Had off street self parking. Had the pool to ourselves most the time. Not filled with party kids. Had mini fridge. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Started cleaning too early. Had to ask for more toiletries.
Ideal location just 1 minute from the end of Bourbon Street and 5 minutes Frenchman street but still away from any rowdy crowds. We had a beautiful studio room with lots of space which was great as we were there for 4 nights. The pool was also really nice. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
The breakfast was very limited, just a few boxes of cereal and some apples available.
No parking and poor breakfast
The gentlemen of the staff seemed genuine, friendly, and informative.
Towels and house cleaning tools were constantly left in front of the denico suite. Often house keeping would sit on stairs in front of dencio suite that led to gym upstairs. All conversation and activity can be heard from person using the bathroom in dencio suite (bathroom sits under staircase). The manger Joani was very dry and unhelpful. There were a few situations that could have and also couldn't have been avoided but she seemed vacant and sarcastic. I was told rooms are not specified when booking anymore but when I booked in January I had information confirming "master suite with balcony" I wasn't put in that room upon checking in and when asked to be I was told I needed to pay my balance upfront I had no problem doing such there was no tdbank in the area so I would I would have to pay cash I informed her this wasn't a problem until I got the cash. I was told it was too late someone booked the room (10 minutes later) even though it was supposed to be given to me after checkout of previous occupant. Luckily for me that person canceled but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. When I asked how much it would be for me to stay in the room that didn't have a balcony she didn't tell me the rate she just said the room is comparable because I had "a view of the pool and hot tub" she also went on to say the dencio suite was at a much higer rate (4th of july) than when I booked it (January) of course it was but I maintain as per booking.com I booked master suite with balcony her response was (they are all master suites) from what I noticed they all have hot tubs but there can only be one master suite. So I felt like at this point she was telling me anything she didn't want to let me know the rate of room so I could just stay where I was and was reluctant to giving me the denico suite (master suite with balcony overlooking front of mansion) she checked all my bills every single 20.
It was in a great location.
The only downfall we experienced was that there was road construction underway on the street next to our room so we were awaken every morning very early by the loud machines.
Upgrade was not as much for value.
Breakfast needed to be better if you paying $500 almost a night with tax. Luxury Master Suite is not a suite at all.
It was great, just being right in the french quarter. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are beautiful.
The parking situation was a little rough, but that isn't your fault.
Very clean and updated
Trip hazards all over the building inside and out. An accident waiting to happen.
The Mansion was in a good location and was beautifully restored.
The staff weren't overly friendly and whilst the rooms were lovely the standard niceitess you would expect in lower standard accommodations were absent. For the money you pay for the rooms you would expect a little more, so don't expect too much.
size. location. age.
Good location in French Quarter, nicely renovated building with many original features. Free Wi-fi was good.
Didn't quite live up to expectations from website. Our luxury suite was quite sparse (Napoleon room) and had only a closet for clothes storage. Queen bed with synthetic pillows. On arrival, two 250ml water bottles and 2 pralines were provided. Breakfast, as others have noted, was coffee, oj, and buns similar quality to be found in a motel. Wine and cheese was reasonable. Thanks to booking.com, our rate was half the rate in high season. Would not want to pay $300/night for the stay. Not enough value. Overall, it seems that the operations are designed to minimize admin overhead, rather than provide quality.
Very tasteful and sensitive restoration project. Absolute rare. The beauty of doing the simple and obvious things - that would be cluttered and smeared with other stuff else where. Great model for carefull restoration and reuse.
The beautiful, well maintained look and feel of the facility. Also the location was wonderful to get out and enjoy the. French Quarter and Frenchmen St
It was noisy. I could hear the upstairs and very loud were all who came into the hallway. The wine and cheese time was beautiful, but the choice of wines were not so good for my preference. Also in the room while I was sitting enjoying my wine and cheese, I satires at a good size, packing box. It looked empty and just forgotten. This took away from some of the rest of the potentially good ambiance.
Wall are humid and as a result the paint is chipping on almost all walls which raises the question of mold. The hotel needs extensive renovation. The hotel is under staff and as a result, you have to wait a long time before checking in or for them to answer any basic questions.
Beautiful traditional mansion house in an excellent location.
Run down and unclean. We only stayed one night out of the four nights booked. Finding garbage and used condoms in the ice bucket convinced us to leave!
Really well designed. Great pool and outdoors area. Very nice and spacious rooms. Large, comfortable beds. Breakfast included. Very good free wine and cheese in the mid-afternoon.
I really wanted to give this place 5/5 because in many ways it would be a deserved score. However, there were a number of niggling little things that made our stay an 85% rather than a 100% experience. Sort these things out and you will have one of the best (and best priced) hotels in New Orleans. Staff inattentive and disorganised when manager not around. Rooms not cleaned/made up every day. Why were thee never any towels by the pool when the hotel clearly had lots of them? Where were they hidden? Why not leave some out for guests? Breakfast finished early (about 9am --- this isn't a business hotel, people are here to relax, let them sleep in til 10!); breakfast also finished at different times on different days so it was hard to game when to go.
It was decorated New Orleans style, but could have used a little more work. Marble bathroom was nice, but shower controls were backwards we finally figured out half way thru our stay. Walking distance to Fr. Qtrs. was good. Beautiful building and pool as the picture shows on the web.
requested a king bed-got a queen that was very uncomfortable. couldn't get the front door to lock even though it had bars on the outside. No body soap was provided. Definitely did not look like the picture on the website.
