Nice ceiling fan
The Bed, room, loaction was close to everything we wanted to do. The staff was very helpful
you couldn't get go cell serive while in the room
I enjoyed very much the history of the hotel and the manner in which it is kept looking the same as in its beginning. Its location cannot be surpassed.
location--elegant old building
In old part of hotel--pipes rattled and walls were thin. Breakfast ordered in dining room arrived cold.
close to River Walk
Valet too long to get your car, only 1 working elevator, at check in staff directed us in the wrong direction to our room, husband is disabled so this caused an inconvience.
very polite staff, nice bar, great location
the older area of the hotel doesn't smell great. the bedding was ratty, not a great room for the money
Our stay at The Menger was excellent! We loved being able to walk to the Riverwalk and other downtown attractions. The room was nice. Valet parking was easy and quick. We will definitely stay at The Menger again!
The history and the staff the deco was real nice
The beds were too small for a couple we couldn't sleep together and the valet parking was terrible and should not be a extra charger we had to wait over a hour for the car and was told it would take 20 mintues
It's a different hotel and it is definitely an older hotel but it was great in our opinion. We went to stay for our wedding and we loved it. I didn't have any ghost encounters either!
The location was perfect for our needs!
We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and this warm welcome continued during our entire 4 day stay. From our beautiful room-to the delicious dining (Don't miss the Sunday Brunch in the Colonial Room!)-to the helpful staff-The Menger Hotel is the place we will always make our home away from home while in San Antonio!
There is nothing we can say that we didn't like during our stay here. This was the perfect place to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary
Located next to the Alamo, walking distance from river walk. Car rental is also nearby. The hotel is historic but needs some updating, such as new carpeting and fresh coat of paint. There is a sign in the lobby indicating rooms are being renovated. It was evident with some of the noise but not too disruptive. Our room faced the outdoor pool whichmade the view look really nice. Overall, the hotel is good for the price, location....but the "old" carpeting made the hallways and room have a damp smell.
Staff and restaurant.
Heating and cooling system is antiquated. Individual rooms have no control over temperature.
It's convenient location
Beautiful hotel-very nice facility & rooms. Staff was very helpful. Would love to return.
Hostess @ restaurant in am. I called the front deskto see if hotel had buffet or brinch Sunday morning. Nothing was said to me about making a reservation. When we got down to restsurant hostess asked me if we had reservations. She was very snippy & said she would see what she had available. She told us it would be better if we had reservations. She acted like it was an in inconvenience to find us a table. I would not have minded making a reservation, but wished someone would have informed us it was preferrable instead of being treated rude by hostess.
Classic old hotel with a casual atmosphere
Exercise room too hot to exercise. There in winter -heat blasting
I loved the details of the hotel, lovely architecture, its history.
The hotel is in a terrible shape, it they don't have heating in the rooms, at least they should invest in individual heating devices to give to each customer. It makes me wonder if I ever want to stay in a historic hotel again.
Ambience of the Hotel, History of the Hotel,
Horse noise at night, very uncomfortable mattress, woke up with back pain, so much so we checked out a day early.
Close to everything
Air conditioning did not work. Had to open window which created a lot of noise. Hotel needs some updating of the rooms.
Second time here and location is awesome! Rooms are very clean and beds are excellent!
Didn't like that my room this time around didn't have a balcony but still a great view
I loved the location and the history surrounding the hotel. I enjoyed the Menger Bar and the restaurant.
I wish there had been a microwave and fridge in the room. We had to throw away wonderful food from the restaurants we went to because of nowhere to keep it. I wish there had been 2 queen beds in rooms.
Loved the look and feel of the hotel in addition to its awesome location and friendly staff.
Our shower didn't turn on (had to use our neighbors shower) and I could have used some warning that guests at the hotel would not be able to get a seat at the Thanksgiving buffet at the hotel.
The staff was very nice, helpful, attentive. The coffee in the dining room was so good as was the food. You couldn't ask for a better location. The history exhibits were so informative.
The building smelled like old cigarettes.
The hotel is just across the street from the Alamo and very close to the River walk. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and in such a beautiful setting! Staff is brilliant and nice to have valet parking.
The rooms are dated and very simple, quite a disappointment after the rest of the hotel. Shower is very unreliable, water temperature is changing rapidly if someone else close by is using theirs
The Hotel always keek the neycest. -the location is very good. -swimming pool & is a big art accion, but is no boyler(yo must improve it). -You have a nices auditoriums..... Must, make a production with the Whole History of Mengel Hotel, the facilities y places to visit ( beside the water way)San Antonio historical city. As part of your promotion: We welcome an special hall-Auditorium as introduction for not more than 20 minutes. If possible, give a cookies & a waiter ....excellent "welcome" An ready to use the information & facilities . Historical Megel :the Best Hotel in Town, "recycling your self"... It is the Managerian goal. Luis Botto Always a guest
It's beautifull & must keep it. But we are in the XXI century. -Gym as old as 20 year ago. -Bad wifi signal in the rooms. -Restaurant,menu & people the poorest. -Parking lots $.30,so I went 3 blocks a away & get for $.10./day - information of own service none. - guest rooms close to kitchen(swimming area) noisy because of the machines( night impossibles). -Reservations,I asked(in advance)for a quiet area,no body knew & gave us a noycest one, next day moved us to another Room.
