Loved the look and feel of the hotel in addition to its awesome location and friendly staff.
Our shower didn't turn on (had to use our neighbors shower) and I could have used some warning that guests at the hotel would not be able to get a seat at the Thanksgiving buffet at the hotel.
The staff was very nice, helpful, attentive. The coffee in the dining room was so good as was the food. You couldn't ask for a better location. The history exhibits were so informative.
The building smelled like old cigarettes.
The hotel is just across the street from the Alamo and very close to the River walk. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and in such a beautiful setting! Staff is brilliant and nice to have valet parking.
The rooms are dated and very simple, quite a disappointment after the rest of the hotel. Shower is very unreliable, water temperature is changing rapidly if someone else close by is using theirs
The Hotel always keek the neycest. -the location is very good. -swimming pool & is a big art accion, but is no boyler(yo must improve it). -You have a nices auditoriums..... Must, make a production with the Whole History of Mengel Hotel, the facilities y places to visit ( beside the water way)San Antonio historical city. As part of your promotion: We welcome an special hall-Auditorium as introduction for not more than 20 minutes. If possible, give a cookies & a waiter ....excellent "welcome" An ready to use the information & facilities . Historical Megel :the Best Hotel in Town, "recycling your self"... It is the Managerian goal. Luis Botto Always a guest
It's beautifull & must keep it. But we are in the XXI century. -Gym as old as 20 year ago. -Bad wifi signal in the rooms. -Restaurant,menu & people the poorest. -Parking lots $.30,so I went 3 blocks a away & get for $.10./day - information of own service none. - guest rooms close to kitchen(swimming area) noisy because of the machines( night impossibles). -Reservations,I asked(in advance)for a quiet area,no body knew & gave us a noycest one, next day moved us to another Room.
The lobby is nice. The location is amazing.
Uncomfortable bed, rooms were dirty and need an update badly.
Location, location, location. It was great walking through the hotel, taking in its old charm, decor, etc.
The faint smell of sewage we noticed when we first walked into the room (#2008). Wasn't potent and either we got used to it or turning on the air held circulate it away, but wasn't the best first impression.
Loved the story of the hotel, the staff was polite and helpful and the hotel was very comfortable overall.
The rooms were a bit small if you have children maybe not the best hotel.
Historical landmark is beautiful and very interesting.
Air conditioner shut off every day by hotel management. Room was hot and stuffy. The beds were extremely uncomfortable.
We like the history that the menger has! Great location! My husbands first time there! Staff is very polite and friendly!
Everyone from the baggage handlers to the desk staff was very friendly. Location is great for the river parade. The rooms were large, nicely decorated, and quite.
Historical significance, close to everything, secure valet parking, great staff
We liked everything!
Tired hotel had trouble with the card key every time we entered room
Free of charge wifi; very central location (next to Alamo); very good (but quite expensive) breakfast. Really nice ambiance in the lobby and dinning room; great Christmas decorations.
After the first night, the cleaning staff for some reason removed the cover sheet from the bed and never returned it. I told the staff three times but they didn't change it. The walls are rather thin, one can hear the (very loud) flushing from the toilet in the next room, as well as the TV.
Wonderful time in SA; Menger is beautiful. Great place for Texas history lovers! You couldn't get closer to Alamo & riverwalk! Had a couple of issues with the room and staff took care of it right away! Friendly courteous staff. Would come back.
Only one complaint - should have gotten room with 2 beds!
Has the most comfortable bed with very soft, white sheets & towels.
The shower didn't work at full capacity, and the air vent made loud noise so I turned off the air.
could have been there longer, amount to park for valet parking.
Staff was great ... Only had cheap dish pkg for cable I guess ! Wanted to watch my shows and relax before heading out monday morning but couldn't get amc !!who has dish and r too cheap to get decent channel pkg ??
Bathroom, no proper hot water an pressure. Thin walls. Rude personal. Worst breakfast I had in years
Proximiity to Riverwalk
Stale smell in hotel & room!
Staff was great! Got upgraded to a different room after the first night, by request.
Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Classic room very small with window facing a wall.
The location and the fact that the Hotel was close to the Riverwalk
The fact that I got charged for water bottles that I never drank.. I was told housekeeping said the seals were broke, but the water wasn't drank.. Seriously, if I am gonna break the seals then I would be drinking them.
Steps away from the Alamo and river walk this is centrally located. Older hotel with lots of charm
Room was older but still clean
room was cold at night floors were not clean carpet has lost it's pretty blue color- unlike the old pictures on web. hotel smelled (I know it's old)
Historic hotel was nice.
Shower has hot or cold. You freeze or burn because there is no warm. Hard to keep the room cool. Bed was old and worn. Not enough space in the bathroom for females at least.
The hotel is well located, near the river walk and the Alamo, the hotel bar and lobby were historically decorated. Staff were helpful in pointing out somewhere for breakfast.
Our room was small and run down. The hotel was very noisy with people banging around at 3am.
