The location & the price
The water ran hot and cold in the shower. I was going to eat at the restaurant at the hotel but considered it too expensive.
The Menger is a beautiful, historic hotel located ideally next to the Alamo and many other touristy spots. The lobby and bar are worth seeing if you aren't staying here.
Our room wasn't ready when we got there at 1pm which was ok since check in wasn't until 3.They said they'd call us when it was ready which wasn't until 3:30 when I was standing at their front desk. Our initial room was spacious with a king size bed but had an air conditioning problem so they ended up putting us in a tiny room with a queen size bed that had wallpaper coming off the ceiling, a dripping bathroom faucet, mold on the bathroom tiles, and a shower head that had so much pressure my skin was red by the end of my shower. No apology.
It was too hot management controlled air conditioning would not go back will not recommend others stay there.
Historical hotel and area surrounding the hotel was in great distance off enough places to keep us busy and not bored.
Wifi kept losing signal....must have been the ghosts D:
the location and the cleanliness
I did not feel a warm and corteous welcome by some of the staff.
I loved the location close to a lot of fun activities
There was no other option for parking other than valet parking
Food and history
Great location, interesting history, comfortable bed, nicely decoated rooms, friendly staff.
The history of the hotel.
We couldn't block out the light or noise from the hallway. You need weather stripping or something. We couldn't get the room to a comfortable temperature, it was too hot when we arrived, then too cold, then the thermostat reset during the night and we woke up in a sauna. The beds were too hard. This hotel has a lot of potential but not worth the $300 I spent for one night!
I loved the classic atmosphere like going back in time.
The bed is a bit small with no window view.
Food was excellent. Invited friends to join us there instead of going out.
Only difficulty was step up to bathroom and shower inconsistent hot and cold but renovation going on May have contributed to water.
The location is great! A lot of interesting history in the Hotel.
The room was a little out dated. No fridge inside the room.
The location was perfect! Walking distance to the Alamo and river walk. I loved the history behind the hotel.
We arrived at 4:30- our room was not ready. The guy called to get a rush job to clean the room and the room was disgusting. Shower and sink were disgusting- roll of roller paper hardly had any left. Floors had hair all over it.
Staff, comfort, location and atmosphere.
Everything with in walking distances stores , riverwalk, alamo.
room smelled old and bed to small for 2 adults , shower was old and wetting the wall and could not move nozzel. Tripped into bathroom with because a big step going in. price to high and to many hiden charges $28 for parking so dont tip they already charge you.
The food and services where excellent
That I had to ask for more coffee only one regular one decaffeinated in room and I didn't get it tell the next day had to call again
Staff was nice. Location very convenient and awesome.
Air conditioning was not working after multiple attempts from maintenance crew (very inconvenient) and lobby said we could not switch rooms. Walls were paper thin, you could literally hear the ladies having phone calls and conversations while laying down in bed. On top of resorting to opening our hotel windows to get cool at night, construction began across the street by our window... AT 7 AM!!!!!!
The bed was awesome, restrooms were spotless. And the feel/decor was on point.
Kinda creepy to walk through the hallways. And I got lost a few time trying to find the rooms.
Beautiful. The brunch was great
The story of the hotel as told by pictures on the walls.
While the hostess was excellent, our server was not good at all. All around bad, not friendly service. A shame for such a spectacular dining room.
Very nice hotel and the good location.
The location was fantastic, and the staff was friendly and attentive. This is a historic hotel and has a lot of charm.
The wifi was kind of spotty and the bed was a bit firm for my preferences.
I stayed here about thirty five years ago and remembered it as a good place when I was deciding where to stay in San Antonio last week. It's friendly, clean, well appointed, and not stuffed with cliche Holiday Inn-y things.
Nothing bad. Nothin.
