Everything is at your finger tips. Shopping, sightseeing, buses, underground, public locations to sit and eat your take-away food and watch the world go by. The hotel was superb, the staff helpful and friendly, the room extremely comfortable and clean. A great complimentary breakfast and free tea and coffee available 24 hours a day. On the day we arrived we were lucky enough to also have complimentary cheese and wine, along with other delicacies. Not forgetting free newspaper and other magazines, such as Time Out. I would recommend this hotel withour any hesitation.

I booked this room at the last minute. When I got there to check in, I was told that I had received an upgrade from a Queen room to a suite. It was beautiful and comfortable. My girl and I enjoyed our little suite so much that we almost didn't get out on time. The staff was courteous and helpful. The shower/bathroom was great. The bed was very comfortable. My only pint of contention was that the toilet seat was cheaper than the one in my apt. Again, the price was right and, with the unexpected upgrade, we will definitely be back to Hotel Metro again.

Just a great all round hotel that was cheaper than most other hotels in the area. Free wifi internet that works in all areas including bedrooms was a nice bonus

Very clean and not outdated Limited towels in the room. For two women getting ready, two sets of towels are not enough.

The entire staff was extremely courteous and helped us whenever needed. I've stayed in other hotels in the city and this ranks right up there with the best of them.

Came on a Monday evening! And the following day Tuesday, thhey had a Wine & Cheese Event that was execellent. I managed to also invite my client to join me and she thoroughly enjoyed that. We also enjoyed brining our drink up to the terrance where we could have a really nice view of the Emprie State Building. It must be nice in the summer when the Terrace Bar is open..

I read several of these reviews before booking my trip. I would say I was cautiously optimistic as more than one person warned that you get what you pay for. The check in between 6 and 7 pm was a breeze. The room was clean, refurbished (10th floor 1016) on the east side of the hotel I think and everything worked just fine. The 24 hr coffee was indeed there 24 hours a day. There is a breakfast including bagels and cream cheese, toast, cold cereal, juice, yogurt, etc for free with a very nice room to eat in. Not sure where the comments about the cold or indifferent staff come from, I didn't get any attitude from anyone there. Hang out the do not disturb sign and you won't be disturbed. The price charged was exactly the price quoted on booking.com and that was great news since we got a free upgrade. Most of the guests are European. German, French and Spanish can be heard spoken by the guests. German travellers are up early for breakfast and generally older and well dressed. In general it's a dressy crowd you would expect at a more expensive hotel.

The hotel is in the heart of mid town Manhattan, a minute walk from the subway station and Macy’s. The room was very clean. The bathroom was neat and clean as well. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. The room was too small for a young couple being with a luggage for a 14-day holiday. Staff is just ok.

Anything in particular apart from its location. I didn't like the fact that I had a window on the courtyard and the old style fornitures. I didn't also like the breakfast, really poor and that taxes weren't included when I reserved. They also blocked 90 euro some days before my arrival, and I normally pay when I arrive in the hotels when I reserve con booking.

Very impressed with hotel Metro. Very convienent to Harold Square, Subway, msg, eating, etc. When we arrived we were upgraded to a king room for free, the rooms were nice, staff was very helpful, and the roof- top lounge would have been nice if it wasn't 18 degrees outside. We will definately stay at Hotel Metro again and recommend it to everyone.

Great location a few steps away from Macy's, the Empire State Building and subways at Herald Square. Roof Terrace is probably lovely in summer (sadly it doesn't operate in winter). Free breakfast buffet in lobby (bagels, cereal, tea/coffee, juice). No idea how this hotel is classed as four star - I thought it was far below this standard. It's in dire need of a complete and long-overdue refurbishment as the decor and facilities are very dated. My "Superior" room was small, cluttered with ugly, pointless furnishings and a symphony of brown, beige, peach, plastic, synthetics and lots of static. The bath was rusty. Hotel's overall appearance is scruffy and grubby. Poor windows mean it's very noisy (don't expect a lie in as local building sites start at 7a.M.). None of the staff greeted guests when passing reception etc. Even by New York hotel prices, this hotel is very overpriced for what you get.

It was a very good deal economically. The hotel is not the nicest out there, but a very good experience at a great rate. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice bonus, too. The hotel was clean. The rooms (while outdated a tad) were clean and nice. The hotel is only a little tired, but very well kept up considering and honestly, a great deal for a solid location on a budget. I recommend it Just not as nice as some of the places I've stayed, but then again, those places are usually 2 or more often 3 times the cost.

Had a room in the back of the Hotel so the view wasn't too good but it was very quiet so it was perfect for us and exactly what we needed after a night of partying. If views are important to you, than our room wouldn't be so great. We viewed the back of several buildings that were doing what appears to be a ton of construction. Since we stayed on the weekend, there was no construction. However, for us, this quiet room was perfect.

Less than 100 yards from the 34th Street stop on the N, Q and R lines. Short walk to Times Square, Empire State building, Rockefeller Plaza and Bryant Park. The breakfast was okay. Mainly bread and muffins, cereal, yogurt and some fruit. The rooms were very nice though. Small but had everything you needed, including a fridge and an HDTV. The wireless internet was slow and very spotty. I had a hard time just getting a webpage to open for the longest time. The business center downstairs is available if you absolutely need to get on the internet.

My husband and I wanted to spend a night in the city together and liked the location as well as the style of the hotel. As we wanted to relax it was great having the restaurant right downstairs where the food was excellent and we did not even have to put on coats to get there. We loved the hotel decor, the comforable bed and linens, and the excellent free breakfast in the morning. We wished we had time to spend two nights there!
