Everything is at your finger tips. Shopping, sightseeing, buses, underground, public locations to sit and eat your take-away food and watch the world go by. The hotel was superb, the staff helpful and friendly, the room extremely comfortable and clean. A great complimentary breakfast and free tea and coffee available 24 hours a day. On the day we arrived we were lucky enough to also have complimentary cheese and wine, along with other delicacies. Not forgetting free newspaper and other magazines, such as Time Out. I would recommend this hotel withour any hesitation.

Our second stay at the hotel. The room was a great size (for New York) and nice and quiet, very clean and we would definately stay again Nothing really - didn't have tea or coffee in the room although it was available all day downstairs in the dining area

I liked the central location, you can walk to many sites, the subway is just down the street for things that are further away. It is easily reachable from the airport with the LIRR via Penn Station. The rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is very good, we were never hungry at lunch time. From the roof terrace you can see the Empire State Building. The building next door is being built, so the noise starts around 7.30 if you have a room to the back. It didn't bother us, because we stayed over Christmas, so they were on a break. The breakfast room can be a little crowded, but we always managed to get a seat.

Hotel Metro has an excellent central location next to the Empire State building. Rooms were good value for a central Manhattan hotel and came with a free self serve breakfast. Staff were efficient and friendly, rooms were comfortable. No such thing as a budget hotel in NYC, but this was excellent value for money. Would happily stay there again

I liked theall day tea and coffee service and the free internet. The breakfast was also good. I thought this hotel was a bit pricey but having said that I suppose it was New York. The building work going on opposite did nothing to recommend it and I found that because my room was on the 4th floor facing the road it was very noisy.

I have stayed there before and found the location to be perfect for both sightseeing and shopping and the continental breakfast in the mornings to be an added bonus No real complaints but I found the bill to be more than I anticipated with flucuating room rates and taxes it was much more than the 840$ which I was quoted and budgeted for

The room was clean, with a nice tv and a nice bathroom. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day and was offered over a long enough time to accomodate early and late risers. The hotel in general had a nice NY-deco feel. We felt very comfortable there. No bell service on check in.

It has a fantastic location. The rooms were pretty nice; our bathroom was pretty spectacular with a jacuzzi tub. The service is so-so; the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, but frankly, it's New York and the food is amazing. Price was decent for the weekend before Christmas. The service could be better. It's a bit odd that only one elevator goes to the top floor and it's next to impossible to summon that elevator vice the other one. I think they should forgo breakfast and charge customers less.

The only thing I thought was very good was the bed; very comfortable! The staff were polite but unfriendly; some were actually disagreeable and poorly informed (especially the concierge!). The breakfast room and other public areas were very basic. The whole ambience was certainly not welcoming nor did it offer the services and amenities I would have expected from its description and price.

With only 2 exceptions, the front desk staff, bellman staff and other service staff are all outstanding. The breakfast, although lacking hot food selections, featured gourmet muffins, bagels, cereals, yogurts, fruit. Very nice breakfast service set-up, always clean too. The breakfast service is open until 11:00 am - exremely convenient should you want to just have a leisure morning, and the coffee service is open 24 hrs. The hotel is very clean (I stayed in a newly renovated room, a premier grade booking). Location - fantastic. Felt safe always. The exceptions are the hotel manager and the concierge - who simply never seemed to be in a friendly disposition whatsoever... Regarding the hotel manager, in future stays I will make sure to completely avoid this person in reviewing a reservation, check-in and all other matters. As far as the concierge goes - just figure out where, what and when on your own.

Comfortable bed and bedding! We slept in each day as a result of the amazing bed we had in our room. Benefits of the hotel include being 1 stop from Times Square, subway a few doors down from the hotel, Macy's across the street, and a lively rooftop deck which seems to almost sit under the empire state. Fridge in the room was a bonus and our room was more spacious than we imagined, especially for NYC. Loved the 1930's feel of the hotel and the Man Ray prints decorating the halls. Great shower too! Very clean, comfortable, excellent location and around the corner from Keens Chophouse - possibly the best steakhouse I have ever visited, which was recommended by the front desk. Fantastic hotel. There was nothing that we could fault during our stay. There is scope to provide additional options for breakfast dining such as an 'a la carte' menu or a hot buffet for example, instead of just being the continental option currently in place. The continental option in place suited our needs and the range of options within this category were excellent, with fresh bagels, yoghurts, fruits, cereals, toasts and juices etc
