The lobby looked nice. Check in was extremely slow. The room bedding and chairs were stained and old looking. We arrived at night and the neighborhood was not good. Do not enter through the front door. Go through the parking lot entrance for safety.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean. Wifi access is free and actually worked! The location is conveniently close to Market Street / Powel Street, prices are very reasonable. Walking the streets around the hotel at night is not for the faint of heart, even though this is only at the edge of the Tenderloin. Cabs are hard to get. Very basic rooms, bare plumbing, no AC/heating, only overhead light in bathroom (that was actually the most annoing bit).

Good price, clean room, WiFi worked well (I counted on that). The part of town is a little sketchy to walk in after dark. The television did not seem to get many (any?) cable channels, which was a minor disappointment to me as a sports fan who likes espn. And it would be a plus if the place offered something grabbable for breakfast, like muffins and orange juice.

The value and the proximity to the city attractions. The numerous people wandering in front of the hotel.

The hotel is conveniently close to BART's Powell station, however it is in a run down neighbourhood and there are lots of homeless people around. Nobody bothered me and the hotel facilities were fine so I found this place to be of good value for the price.

Kind of near the ghetto area of sf, but still an excellent location because it's so close to union square. Very good for it's price. I don't like the vintage/old style hotels, so I like how this one is modern. It has been remodeled. Wifi worked on my ipod, but not on my laptop for some reason Ice machine is only on certain floors

Centrally located near Union Square for shopping. One block to the Bart/Muni station. An average hotel in a very bad neighborhood. The room was terribly small. It was the size of a walk in closet. I can hear everything that was going on the street. No air conditioner. Only provided a small portable heater for the room. Lobby was designed well, but outside was a drug haven for dealers, druggies, and homeless people. I saw people smoking dope right outside of the hotel parking area. Definitely not a safe area to walk around at night.

Clean and well maintained. Maid staff friendly and kind. Respect of privacy. I have no complaints. The location is difficult. I could see have some would be uncomfortable with the neighborhood. I work with street people so I was comfortable.

The atmosphere, decore, location and price all made this hotel an excellent value. The staff was very nice, however, they need a lot more training on security and customer services.

The management at the hotel is courteous. Each member is very helpful in answering and attending to my needs there. There is no means to regulate the cold in the room except to use more blanket. Since I washed my tea cups, they were never changed for three days. The sitting room at the lobby is also cold and not warmed at all.

Great value for money hotel, just off market street on a walking distance to Union Square. Wasn't expecting the hotel to meet our high expectations, but it did! Great reception, super tidy rooms, all in all a perfect stay in San Francisco

Liked the fact that shopping and the wharf and the Square were within walking distance. Loved the restaurant (Farmer Brown) next door . . . great place to eat and awesome place to go for a drink at the bar . . . staff at the hotel and at the restaurant very friendly and welcoming . . . which was awesome because last time I was in San Fran was with my husband, who passed away March of this year. This time I was alone and revisiting places we'd been so it was great to have people who were welcoming! Well, the fact that I could only open my window a tiny bit . . . I understand the safety reasons for this however I would have liked to take photos from my room and could not because the windows were too streaky. Noise from the less desirable street on the side of the hotel I was staying in was annoying . . . the swearing; the drunks yellling late into the night . . . still, I would come back to the same hotel but would make sure I wasn't facing the same street! Also didn't like the fact that I was hit with an additional $60.00 bill for parking for two nights which as I recall was not noted on the internet . . . I would only stay there again if I didn't have my car.

Decor Bums hanging out around the location. Almost dangerous. I stayed in the 7th floor and it was hot and no air conditioning (never thought I would need in sf) so I had to sleep with the window crack opened. You can hear noise all night. People talking outside... Walls are kinda thin.

Creative use of space in room, bathroom was very clean. It was a good value for the price of the room. My view was terrible. I was on the 2nd floor and my view was of the air conditioning system. I was in sf for a single night for a party, so this was not an issue for me but if I was visiting sf as a tourist, this would be a major turn off.

Boutique hotel with modern touches. Nice lobby and rooms for the type of hotel. The entrance on Mason Street has uncomfortable feeling with peddlers and street people who were loud and in your face. Use parking lot entrance.

Room was clean and comfortable. Room was average size for San Francisco standards. Close to Bart/ Muni Metro Station. Internet: Free internet was a real joke. I could only make it work to load one page. Then I had to disconnect and connect again to be able to load again just one page. Useless. I even tried to use the "enhanced" for pay option and it would not work either. Tried to use internet in mezzanine above lobby and it was really slow. Location: While the location was convenient, the hotel was surrounded by the most aggressive and scary bums I have ever seen. I am big and used to big cities and homeless but the ones just out of this hotel were too much. House keeping: Extremely loud while we had the "Do not disturb" sign on the door. It seemed they were doing in it purpose to wake us up and get done with their job.
