Great Location, close to BART. a lot of homeless along the streets outside the hotels, does not feel safety at night for a solo traveller, especially for your lady.

Two blocks from shopping. Theatre district was in walking distance. Easy access to public transportation (both MUNI and BART) Not the best neighborhood. The room I was given didn't have any heat. Granted it doesn't get really cold in San Francisco but it was the end of December and during the night it got down to the mid-40's.

Room was nice. The staff was very helpful. Well the tenderloin district is quite interesting, but the people on the streets seemed hsrmless. I don't know how people not from a city would view it

The location, even if a comment is required. While the location for the Hotel is very good (extremely close to Market St, a huge shopping spot) the actual neighborhood is not that good... This implies that once you come from Market St (which you will frequently, as you have metro, tram and a Bart station very close by the Hotel, a major plus) the last 50 meters you walk until getting to the hotel are 'kind of shaky' as a lot of homeless people walk in the area... With this I don't mean I felt insecure, but lets say it's not the enjoyable part of the path back to the Hotel... With this said, you may see other comments from other travelers saying that the area is indeed secure and that (i) you will find homeless people all over San Fran (which is true) and also that (ii) they won't disturb you (that is also my feedback, as I was approached only twice, and they both left as I said no - which will you have to at times, given the amount of homeless people in the city!). Rooms were always very clean. Very close by (2m walking) big shopping center with all facilities. Overall, given the price/location relationship this is a good choice for those only willing for a simple place to stay, but well located. Despite being upgraded for a suite (I stayed almost one week) my room was a bit cold (note I was in SF in December) and there was some noise coming from the street, which may disturb those used to sleeping in quiet environments (windows did poor isolation). There's no breakfast, only complimentary coffee and tea (but check out Cafe Mason, just a 2m walk and a typical (pancake) Californian style.

Excellent location, on the edge of union square and tenderloin and although it was about 2-3 blocks from the Powell Metro station it was actually only about 150 yards from the metro entrance to the hotel door. Easy to get anywhere. The business center is fantastic and a godsend for conference go'ers needing quick fixes on their presentations or other stuff. Great table to work on with 2-3 or about 6 max. The discount through booking.com made this a real excellent value. Rather minor in comparison to the budget discount I got but the shower head is too low in my room -- maybe not all. Led to flooding of the bathroom! Lighting in room a bit awkward but not any more so than most hotels!

Everything is very nice: interiors, rooms, personnel, common rooms, restaurant in the same building, close to everything 1)Outside in the darkness looks dangerous, lots of impaired people around. If you are 2 and more, then ok. 2) Morning complimentary coffee in the common room should be avoided :)

Conveniently located to Bart transit, shopping, sight seeing. The hotel was nice. The streets had a lot of panhandlers every where you went. They really don't bother you unless you give them attention or eye contact. I felt safe at the hotel.

Big room, and clean, for a 2 star hotel. It was located in a 'shady' area. It was the place where a lot of homeless people gathered, and that was intimidating for a single traveler (female) like me. I also would have liked to see a breakfast area, although there were lots of places in the neighbourhood.

One we actually got into our room, the hotel was very nice. The room Was spacious (considering its downtown San Francisco). The morning staff were great and very courteous to answer all questions. The evening staff didn't seem to knowledgeable, and couldn't really answer our questions. The room was extremely cold all night long (even though we left the heater on full blast). It isn't a great neck of the woods, but even during the night everything was well lit.

Perfect location to explore the city, especially if this is your first time in SF. Hotel has a contemporary design and a very comfy beds in the rooms, the staff is helpful. when you step out of the hotel the neighborhood is hateful, crazy people and junkies are wandering around day and night, this has nothing to do with the hotel though, they are everywhere on Market str around Union sqr. The price for the parking at the hotel is over the hood - 30$ per night + TAX

We arrived at the hotel at 1 am, ready to check in we were told our room wasn't available anymore for that night. They paid for us to stay in another hotel for the first night, we were exhausted after 26 hours traveling. Another bad thing is the people living in the street of the hotel. Good position if you need to stay close to the city center, but very dangerous area of San Francisco, especially during night.

Not one thing. The parking valet attendant is a maniac. My wife and I witnessed him driving about 100 feet at 40 miles an hour in reverse into the parking garage! The location is scary, the room was scary, the bathtub had pealing paint on the floor - we arrived and then just left for another hotel. I don't even care if I don't get a refund on the first night's stay, I'm just happy we got away with our belongings intact. You need a room key to use the elevator, for crying out loud. I read an article in the New York Times about staying off the beaten path in San Francisco. The guy that wrote that article should be fired for putting people in harm's way.

People at the front desk were very nice. Rooms were clean. The shower head didn't stay up and just offered coffee in the morning no rolls or donuts. Couldn't get but five channels on the TV.

Was in the area for Pride last weekend & the location was perfect. Public transport was easily accessable. Parking onsite was a big plus. Nice decor & helpful staff. Liked that a room key was necessary to get on the elevator. Although the location for the purpose of our trip was perfect, the area was teaming with homeless & addicts. We were never harassed yet we felt uneasy. Lots of street noise at all hours of the night. The water pressure left a lot to be desired.
