there is a lot of cockroaches in the hotel, Bad housekeeping
When you check in be prepared to find you are not necessarily booked at the Castle. Some rooms are private condos for rent. My room was ne of those . It was last maintained probably in the 1980's or before. I am not joking. Old beat up furniture, peeling paint, A bed of old fashioned wire box springs that squeaked at every move. No blanket. Old over used pillows. The door had no door knob. Just a deadbolt. Inside no security latch Arriving after my work day to find the room not cleaned. The desk then tells me cleaning is $35.00 extra but since I did not ask for it everybody was gone for the day. The desk closes in the early evening. There is one non english fluent security person in the lobby. I don't know what they would do if there was a fire or other emergency I think my room was 1701. Doesn't matter. The elevator has been partially torn apart and remains that way. The place is a dump that thinks charging low rates gives them liberty to treat guests abusively. Know that there is a security guard taking your reso and a desk that is indifferent. I have been traveling for business for literally 45 years. I have stayed in some pretty sketchey hotels around the world. This was the worst. A cruddy, unsafe building with indifferent staff. If something goes wrong in the middle of the night, you are on your own.
It was a great view of the beach
The room was small
So many negative comments, I have to imagine some people expect a lot for a cheap hotel right on Miami Beach. This is a basic hotel with no frills at all. The room was fine, we had to ask for sheets for the pull-out, but they were quickly provided. The people at the front desk were very polite and friendly. There are multiple operations going on, including huge catering/event rooms, condo owned units, a few shops downstairs and a cabaret in the restaurant. Surprise: a large bronze horse and cowboy Frederick Remington is located in the hallway.
Parking is expensive, but they were happy to extend my parking for a few hours after I checked out. Long wait at check-in. Room we had needs updating all over.
it is a rip off over charge, for 200$ plus they tryed to charge for parking 25$ per day, and the announced cost is 50$ per mont dishonest do not go there
The front desk charged us an extra 325 dollars a month later because of the valet service that we didn't use.
OCEAN VIEW ROOM WITH TERRACE / (habitacion frente al mar)
ROACHES ALL OVER!! (CUCARACHAS EN LA HABITACION!) / FRONT DESK HELPLESS (FRONT DESK NO LE IMPORTABA LA SUCIEDAD) / NO ROOM SERVICE / POOR GYM ACCESS: GYM NOT CLEAN / EXTRA CHARGE $35 FOR SPA / POOL CROWDED / BUILDING REALLY OLD!! NEED LOTS OF IMPROVEMENTS / VERY EXPENSIVE FOR THE SERVICE /
Nice pool, bar & restaurant and close to beach.
The mould and general filth through out the room. The springs sticking in my back from the mattress. Room was not cleaned or no new towels the whole 5nights we were there.
There was only one thing that I appreciated about this hotel. The only flight available for my friend and I to arrive in Miami was at 9:00 in the morning. We were at the hotel a little before 10:00 and we could not check in until 3:00. The gentleman at the front desk was pretty nice and let us check in several hours early. The other only nice thing was there view from the room looking out to the beach. That was probably the only upside of staying here.
I stayed at The Castle Hotel this weekend because a friend and I attended Ultra Music Festival. The lobby of the hotel was pretty nice but the room was awful. The staff barely spoke English and they were very rude. The front desk also closed at 6:00 PM so if you needed any help after then, you needed to get help from security. Hopefully you can speak fluent Spanish if you're staying at this hotel. The room seemed to be very dirty. The glasses next to the bed had dust all inside them, the bathroom seemed dirty, and there were little bugs crawling all over the sink. They didn't even have soap to wash your hands with. My friend found hairs inside of her bed as if the sheets were never cleaned. Sleeping was very uncomfortable because all we could think about was how dirty it was. Since I was at the festival all weekend, we were barely able to bare staying at this hotel. We pretty much used the room only to shower and sleep because we didn't want to be in it otherwise. My suggestion to anyone is to not base your entire decision of staying at this hotel off of my review, but to definitely look at the other reviews as well. Do yourself a favor and find a different, cleaner hotel.
Pool and access to beach. The beach was great. RikiTiki bar/snack bar was a necessity. The view from our 15th floor room was great.
The elevator situation (only 1 working at times)was a major negative. No restaurants on site other than RikiTiki by the pool.
Huge building, great location, great semi private beach, excellent pool and tiki bar. Happy hour is a must. Loved the balcony and view. Really large room with full kitchen, private in room wifi , and cable. Polite bilingual front desk.
Some roaches, no breakfast unlike website said, no maid service during stay, not enough outlets. Hotel did not do anything about the misleading website like provide us with breakfast elsewhere. The ladies at the little convenience store are rude.
To have more attention to our problens. When we arrived they gave us a wrong room and dennied to say if we were in a better or worse place then we should be!?!
the view front of the ocean. Also the facility of moving around the city.
My view of the ocean from my balcony.
access to the beach ,valet parking service was good, little coffee/snack shop was good
the room available for rental was beat up, dirty, wore out beds and bedding and stuck behind the elevators to insure you don't get no sleep. I could go on. A security company gives you a key when you check in so you are not sure if any body would care if you informed them plus they make sure you are paid in full prior to arriving so its probably unlikely you could leave and expect a refund. I could even put up with the slow elevators so it would take longer to get back to that disgusting room
There was not much that we were happy about with this hotel when we travelled there in January 2014. There were cigarette holes in our blankets and bed sheets. The floor was practically flooded from a leaking fridge when we woke up on our first morning. The cutlery and plates provided were covered in old food residue. The microwave barely heated meals. We paid 380US for all of this and were offered no service to fix any of these problems. In fact we were blamed for the problems and told to deal with it ourselves... Despite being on miami beach it was 20 blocks from the closest supermarket and even further from shopping areas leaving guests fairly isolated. This was multiplied by the poor kitchen facilities and lack of decent restaurant making it difficult to obtain an easy meal. The staff at the front desk were rude and ignorant, continually answering friends phone calls while serving us and failing to provide clean linen when asked. In summary this was one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing travel experiences that I have had. I would recommend not to stay at this hotel for the poor hotel quality.
Found enough cheap apartment Public parking (1$ p/hour day, night - free). But you will know about it only when you will pay 8$ per hour in the first day at the hotel`s valet. Oceanview
No room service in apartments Very expensive valet parking, not mentioned before checking in! Only 2 elevators for the whole building, it was impossible to get down from 9th floor to lobby at 10am during 1 hour! A lot of insects in microwave oven!
Beach pool area
I booked the room for $450 wen I got there I was charged $675 they never gave me a pillow and I had to buy paper toilet I'm very upset
Room was not clean Kitchenware had remains of previous ( many) users Interior outdated Towels were not replaced, toilet paper and amenities were not replenished TV had bad signal Limited check-in hours and reception availability Expensive valet parking
The shop in the Lower Lobby had great choice of food so you can get Cuban Coffee, food and groceries. Great Value Shop
Lack of Internet access in the bed rooms and lack of phone service. Very bad Internet and mobile access in the room. Very low signal. I only had access in the hotel Lobby. It seems like everyone staying there had that problem. Also there was only 1 elevator working for the whole building the entire week of my stay. Very slow and unfounctional elevator. Long waits for the elevator. Which means its gets very overcrowded when it does arrive.
