Sofitel Miami  

The staff were excellent, Jude the bellboy was a genuine gentleman and extremely helpfull, he did not hold his hands out for tips. The shuttle to and from the airport is a greta service, the hotel is extremely clean and comfortable

Hardly a “Luxury Hotel” imho On arrival one room smelled of tobacco smoke and musty, the other also smelled slightly damp. When I complained I was offered an alternative room. The new room smelled even more damp than the original, like a cheap motel room. I spoke to a manager and eventually we were offered a junior suite on the same floor for myself and my wife but my daughter had to stay in the same unpleasant smelling room. In one room there was staining around the aircon outlet; pen marks on walls, bedding, curtains and upholstery; the carpet had small stains. There were hairs in the bath. The headboard of the bed was loose and rattled. Outside the window was thick with pigeon droppings. In both rooms shower fittings were loose; an ice machine located next to the bedroom of the suite can be heard running all night as can the aircon plant outside the widow. Ventilation in the bathrooms was virtually non-existent and condensation formed on the ceiling while showering and dripped cold water on you. The suite had been created from two standard rooms so the aircon did not cool the bedroom effectively. Beds were be unexceptional although the description was “luxurious”. In the public areas we found carpet that had been repaired with duct tape in a number of places. Experience with staff was variable, most were pleasant enough but some seemed distant and too busy to help. It is obvious that the building has been renovated with the minimum of expense except in the lobby and bar areas.

First class hotel at middle class prices. Great gym and pool.

Lobby decor was nice, although I don't place a huge value on the decor in the lobby. Shuttle service was convenient. Concierge was helpful.

Horrible, noisy hall where other guests were making loud noises after 10pm. Room too hot, thermostat not effective in reducing the heat. One-piece duvets without a top sheet or other blanket were too hot, made sleeping very uncomfortable. No free access to wireless was really problematic, especially since many guests would be using wireless to confirm plane tickets, etc. I couldn't believe that this hotel would charge guests for internet access in this day and age.

The restaurant was very nice, the food and experience exceeded my expectations. The staff was very friendly and was there to help and assist with all my needs. Great experience, we will return. Thanks to the Sofitel for their upscale and quality customer service and experience.

Well located for an overnight stop near Miami International Airport. Friendly staff and surprisingly good food in the restaurant.

We simply needed a hotel for one night near Maimi Airport.The Sofitel met this need.It seemede a little expensive;the satff were very attentive

I think the only advantage of this hotel is its location. The restaurant is also good, but expensive.

The comfort and the room itself is bad. Very old, needs upgrade. We did not like it and were disappointed because the hotel didnt meet our expectations, especially for such a price. And the last disappointment was when they charged my credit card additional $60 without any explanation.

It's pricey....but that comes with the service. It might be time for a renovation soon....

I'm a long-term 'fan' of the Sofitel chain because I find their hotels to be 'noticeably better than they need to be' without any pretensions. Many are convenient to airports, and worth a premium for a morning flight. The Miami facility is a couple of miles away, but the on-site competitor wasn't well reviewed so I booked Sofitel and was more than happy with the choice. (Note though that the short taxi ride may cost $15, so you may prefer to wait for the half-hourly shuttle.)
