I made coffee one day - I think it was decaf - I prefer regular - and I like it with cream and sugar. there was no regular coffee and the next day there was no creamer. Nothing had been replaced. And the coffee pot hadn't been cleaned.
We like the privacy and the charm of the lodge. Also, to hear the birds and ducks from our room. Normally in a motel you don't hear any wildlife.
Location and affordability.
Only complaint I had was with the size and closeness of the toilet. It was a bit small and a fairly tight space for me, being a larger man.
This is close to many things to do, yet secluded enough to be quiet and peaceful. The rooms are nice and are clean and well stocked.
It's beautiful there. It felt like home.
We had a great porch but weather uncooperative so did not get to use rockers!
Quiet, spacious rooms, kitchen, and the lake
If you are looking for a 4 star resort this isn't it. No frills, just nature and a vision of the way life used to be. Great retreat. Cons. No window treatments and I was a bit worried about total window coverage with the blinds they have. The lady in the office is all business and very efficient. Not the friendly type but that adds to the total privacy of your stay. If you staying in a kitchen unit, take a roll of paper towels. The price is a bit high but the beauty of the property made it worth it. Because the buildings are old - the walls are paper thin, keep that in mind and please think of your neighbors.
Step back in time to the simple life! What a beautiful place. Relaxing, quiet, private, clean. Grounds are immaculately kept and maintained - that impressed me the most. Little lake is so lovely, I loved everything about it.
No bad experiences. I only liked that we couldn't stay beyond one night.
Reminds you of "Dirty Dancing" location.
Part of the facilities need some renovation (shower in the 2nd floor)
The lodge has a warm family atmosphere, have some attractions not far (like DuPont forest). Good place for a relax weekend.
Furnishings were dated.
The setting on the private lake/pond is beautiful. Has a vacationy feel to it.
The beds and the view were excellant
Very peaceful and relaxing. Close to plenty of places to eat, shop, etc. Can't wait to go back for vacation for a week in August!!
This is an older inn so walls are a bit thin and so are the mattresses, but it's part of the charm to me.
We enjoyed a great snow and a a quiet comfy getaway. The staff was great and even helped is dig out the car in the morning.
We arrived late after a long day at a volleyball tournament and wanted to relax and take showers. We had no hot water in the shower! We tried to contact the office three times and no one returned our calls. Two of hour traveling companions had to take cold showers, and the other decided not to shower since it was below 32 degrees outside! The mattresses on the beds were very uncomfortable. In addition, it was cold in the rooms. We tried to adjust the heat but the adjustments did not seem to work. There were no extra blankets in the room so we were cold all night. We were looking forward to staying at this location and were glad we found a two bedroom suite for $100, but in this case, we got what we paid for……A clean room, but no hot shower water and uncomfortable sleeping environment.
The wifi barely picked up signal, the bed was horribly uncomfortable, the staff were a bit rude and not very helpful, the pet fee of $45 is ridiculous especially to be non refundable!
We LIKED the pond and paddle boating the first time we stayed. This time, not so much! The pond is shriveled to a puddle but it was still a better view than a boring hotel room!
Our room was very comfortable. The kitchen was very functional and well equipped. We would definitely return for another visit !
I loved the peacw and quiet.
The property sits on a pretty lake. Staff was friendly and helpful.
wifi reception poor
proximity to restaurants
paper thin walls no shampoo??? little hard to find door does not lock behind you
good price comfortable and good value good choice of TV channels
The furniture in our unit is in great need of updating--things look as though they are from the 1970's. The bedding was also old and there were holes in the sheets, and stains on the bedspread. The tile floor needed a good scrubbing in high traffic areas. It did not feel clean.
The fireplace, full kitchen, and the bathroom were really nice.
This is an older place; one of the earlier Flat Rock resorts/lodges, so the feel of the place is comfortable, not sleek. We loved it, but please note that if you are looking for the Ritz, this treasure is not for you.
We woke up each morning, well rested and eager to make breakfast in our efficient kitchenette. We'd watch the morning mist on the lake, just a short distance from our door, and take our time starting each day. The staff was warm, friendly without being effusive, and understanding about our very late arrival the first night. I lived in the area for 35+ years, so usually stay with family and friends when visiting 'home', but I plan to include a night or two at Mill House on future trips. As a writer and photographer, this is an ideal place to rejuevenate and create.
Feels like your in the mountains staying there. Very home like feel there!
Had to step down from the curb into the room; the pathway down is a little tricky.
Location, location, location. The room, kitchen combo is spacious and super; you could live a year in this place and not feel claustrophobic.
