the hotel has good decor inside..the reception is in a big hall so quite spacious inside... the hotel is in the downtown area.the locality is unsafe for the tourists to go out late in the evenings.one should prefer staying in the hollywood area.there are no good shopping complex nearby the hotel.hence u have to spend too much on taxi to move around.quite boring and dull area it is..room size small for a family...

The Grand Lobby .The cafe with Spanish influence in decoration The hotel looks Grand but the rooms are so awfully old which does not reflect the stars rating . The TV in the room is an eyesore . The tolilet facilities are very very aged , cheap look . The bed is so uncomfortable . Compare to Miako , even Miyako does not have a Grand Lobby and eternal look , but the room itself are comfortable . The bed and pillows are so lovely that we could sleep well .

Staff was very good, beautiful place with lots of potential. Food not good at all, a better chef will change things around. We spoke with over 20 couples that said the same thing. New years eve menu was not good at all, the food was very disappointed for the price. We do travel 6 months every year all over the world and we feel very disappointed with our stay at your hotel.

Location. Design of the public spaces. Small number of television channels. No wastebasket liner. Coffee set-up but no coffeepot (rentable) -- what a cheesy come-on! Parking extremely expensive (25% of the room price).

This is a spectacular hotel, unfortunately the concierges did not know anything about the city and repeatedly sent myself and my partner way out of our way, and cost us many sight seeing hours. Other than that, a really great hotel.

We got a great deal on the room and as travellers we thought it was quite up market. We were not intimiated by the surroundings but thought we should present ourselves a little better. The staff were lovely and helpful, the rooms were clean and large. There was not view from our window just into a enclosed window column I imagine to supply natural light. The hotel is quite historic and was a pleasure to stay in.

The staff was great. Reception, hallways on reception floor, restaurants, gym, ballrooms were amazing. Really beautiful architecture and classic decorations. The rooms and hallways have seen better days. Windows could not be closed. Rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment.

The lobby areas were gorgeous and the location was very convenient. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Only ate one breakfast buffet there and one flatbread pizza. Both were ok but nothing special. The workout facilities were poor to fair. Very cramped. The one stationary bike did not work properly and did not have toe straps. The bedroom was substandard. One of the 3 lamps had a blown light bulb (which was replaced) and the sink leaked around the faucets. There was no comfortable chair for reading, so I had to use the bed. This is the least comfortable hotel room I've been in many years.

I enjoy the ambiance of the Hotel's architecture and history. I stayed here before in July for business and decided to return again. However this time I traveled with my mother for the la Gift Show. So I had 2 double beds. The room I stayed in last time was a king sized bed and the room decor was charming. This time I was very disappointed with the lighting in the room. It was incredibly poor. I was in room 944. Also for 2 people to share the room, it made it difficult to work with that small bathroom and no counter area. It would have been nice if there was another mirror over the desk to be able to do hair and make-up since we both couldn't get in the bathroom at the same time. Also I am aware of the city business of downtown LA, but my last room was much quiter because of where I was located. This time my room was incredibly noisey from the street traffic that I didn't notice during my last day nearly as much. Also it would be nice if there was an ice machine at both ends of the hallways.

We spent the first couple nights of our honeymoon at the Biltmore. They were very gracious and upgraded us. They also gave us vouchers to enjoy breakfast in their lounge. The architecture is absolutely amazing and an la treasure. It is a must see. The service was lovely, everyone is so kind and friendly. We plan on returning for our anniversaries!

Very elegant hotel. I was worried about how we were going to be received as I had rung direct prior to leaving the uk for advice re transfer from the airport - they hung. When I rang back I was told - we could understand you as you were speaking a foreign language - I am 'very English' with no real accent! However, arrival and reception was no problem. Despite 3 weddings taking place in the two days we were there it was quiet. Bedroom was clean and comfortable but the bath was more of a glorified shower tray - so shower we did!

The historical aspect was very interesting. Impressed by the architecture and the public areas were very comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, particurlarly in the restaurant. No spare blankets in the room, very cold at night> Coffee machine faulty, no top-up of coffee sachets - just general feeling that the public space took precedence over the guest accommodation. Having said that staff were very helpful when approached about problems.

“Very interesting Hotel - they obviously put a lot of care and thought into designing it to make sure that it was an entertaining and enjoyable place to stay. Hotels can be so bland and boring everywhere else whereas the Standard had something funny, quirky, useful, or interesting at every step: from motivating quotes on the wall, to funny stickers in the bathroom, and Ipod docks next to each bed. The Staff were lovely and helpful and the location is pretty ideal. The coolest Hotel I have ever stayed in.” Andrew, Wellington |
