The view 'city view' was amazing !
We booked a corner room , it was well appointed and the view was amazing, it made our trip to New York
the staff were very ambivalent at reception and the concierge service was poor.
Bed Was comfortable
Staff were extremely Rude, i was with my 2 year old daughter rushing into a cab, there was an african american staff member who just called a taxi for us, then he started yelling at us "i did something nice, you were expected to Say Thank you"!! the only thing he did was just waiving at the taxi. Next day, someone else wouldn't let us go without tipping him! i usually tip very generously but this is not the way to handle 5 star hotel residents. i would never consider going there again.
No pool but was advertised
The lines were slow to check in and out.
The location, the furniture, staff
in All US I don't like that no water pipe near the toilet seat for washing in the rest room & you have to use only paper to clean your self.
Suite was very nice and spacious, bathroom was modern Staff very helpful and friendly.
Room service ordering proved difficult - lady found it difficult to understand requirements and forgot to give us ketchup twice despite us asking for it with our order. Slightly overpriced - stayed elsewhere for 3 nights nearer to time square in a very similar room and was a lot cheaper.
Beautifull view they did exactly as I asked and provided my dad with an amazing room my dad loved it. Thank you.
The rooms are really big by any standard, but especially for New York and they look like they've been recently renovated. The location of the hotel is fairly conveniently located.(****Traffic could be horrendous in NYC though so if you're not up for walking or taking the subway, give yourself at least twice as much time as what google map tells you to get to your destination.)
They should replace the lady who works at the check-in desk. She's rude, unfriendly and for the three nights we stayed there, she never once smiled -- she just glared at us as we came in and out of the hotel. She's short when we asked her for help. This woman doesn't belong in hospitality and should be fired. Way to make people feel unwelcomed and never want to go back to your hotel again.Because she's the first and last person you see when you're there, it really ruined things for every other staff member who were quite lovely. It's hard to catch a cab here at night. We ended up paying the hotel car
We stayed on the 40th floor of the West Tower. Justin checked us in and gave us a wonderful room with an amazing view of Manhattan. The skyline bar and staff topped off the experience.
The hotel is a bit off the beaten track but we liked the relative peace, together with the view so the only real downside was the swimming pool was not in use during our stay.
view was awesome, comfortable room
a little to far from time square and central park, after check out they charged 2 dollars for every piece of luggage, no late check out
They didn't email us to tell the pool was not available it had been out of action for couple of weeks .. We book because of kids and pool and how tired your feet can be walking in NYC. Disappointed we was so we checked out they didn't offer anything in place even though there was two pools near by in other venues.
The views were memorable shame about the receptionist and the pool.
The tall guy with no hair on the reception who wouldn't let my wife check in, as I was running the marathon, even though she had the booking .com reservation print out, my passport and card wallet. This meant she had to walk around New York three hours in the freezing cold while i got back. When I then mentioned it to one of the female receptionists she shook her head and said, "that's really bad" and apploagised on his behalf. The pool was closed for reconstruction work however we were not informed of this when we booked, the receptionist again apploagised and stated that we should have been informed.
The price: special offer - beat everything at the time of booking for same standard of hotel. Access a bit awkward when driving. Bar could do with more 'élan'
Lobby a bit stark.
Room well equipped and well designed (but overpriced)

Quiet location overlooking the East river but only 10 minutes from Grand Central. All aspects of hotel are good. Great views of the river and Central Manhattan.
The East tower hasn't been refurbished and from the reviews of significantly lower quality. I think this is the reason for such polarised opinions on here. If you book the East tower don't expect the 5* quality of the West Tower!
The swimming pool was out of action
The room was excellent, comfortable, great view and clean. The employees are all very nice and accommodating.
Check in and check out had long lines because their software system is so slow. The parking system is also a fiasco and takes an absurd amount of time. Hotel management should be embarrassed to have such bad systems.
Beautiful room with a stunning view of the New York skyline. Breakfast in the Sky Lounge very tasty. Staff very professional.
Room maids somehow always came at the wrong time. Champagne in the room was completely flat - Staff didn't seem care when mentioned.
View was good Breakfast was nice
Room we booked wasn't ready when we arrived at 7.30pm after a long day travelling. Had to wait an hour before it was ready with no complimentary drinks.
A hotel with a stunning view. We were upgraded on arrival to a corner rooms on floors 38 and 39. Both had fantastic views. Breakfast was included which was a real bonus for a New York hotel, with a good selection of hot dishes. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is approx a 10 min walk from Grand Central Station.
Just to be aware if there is a big gathering at the United Nations building close by you may encounter increased security in and around the hotel as well as possible road closures. hotel. As was the case during our stay.
The room was great, great views and very clean. Breakfast in the Skyline bar great staff. The night receptionist who we met as we left was the only one who wasn't rude, he was great!
90% of the staff were really rude and looked down their noses especially reception. We only booked for the pool which looks fab but was closed, wifi is $12 per item per day and on the 2 occasions we tried the bar it was closed but we could pay down the road! This hotel has a lot of potential but the staff made us miserable and we couldn't wait to leave.
Breakfast in restaurant
Pool was closed, first because UN Assembly and then because of leak. Just a notice on the door of the pool, no excuse from hotel.
Initial communication at reception not so good but resolved with persistance by a manager. Problem with pool being closed for repairs. Disappointed in lack of pool facilities but compensated with an upgraded room with fantastic views. Restaurant staff at Ambassador Grill excellent and breakfast excellent
Standard room didn't have robes. Communication at check in could have been better butt fortunately a shift manager called melvita listened to me and saved the day. Snacks in skyline lounge mostly unsatisfactory and advertised cocktails from 5pm to 7 pm did not exist
