Location and cleanliness
Rooms were very small and in my opinion overpriced. In fairness though, all the hotels within the Boston area are extremely overpriced.
Location was great
The double was more like a large single. Not ideal after an 8 hour flight
Being able to walk to Boston Commons, the gardens and the Freedom Trail.
Size of room was real problem. Had to turn sideways to get between dresser and bed. Also a big person could not have gotten into the bathroom with the swing door. Hated the plastic utensils at breakfast. Old, old, old --needs extensive renovation and updating.
The central location.
Small elevator that couldn't fit our baby stroller. Tiny breakfast room.
This small, cute, vintage hotel near the Commons was close to Metro and walking distance to all we wanted to see in our 6 days in Boston. With just carry-on bags, we found it easy to access form Logan Airport via the train. We also enjoyed starting each day with a stroll through the park.
The convenient position of the hotel to all attractions.
The fact that there was no in-room safe. In addition the safety deposit boxes at the reception were not operative.
Very convenient to all things Boston. Exceptional value if you only want a place to sleep. Breakfast nice. Staff very pleasant.
Rooms are very very small. Wear your slippers or shoes as the carpet may never have seen water.
Friendly staff; location
Small bed . It was not fit for a double
Only hotel available for booking last minute near Boston businesses that was reasonable price wise. Room was acceptable.
Room and Bathroom were a bit on the small side. Surrounding outside hotel area was a little noisy in the middle of the night.
Location, staff, quiet inside, not a 4 or 5 star hotel, but decent value for the location of the hotel for a great many things.
street noise from yelling people, the room was small but adequate, as it was only me and I just was there for the Half Marathon and spent very little time in the room
Hair of previous occupant in bathroom Cracks in wall covering Fraying carpets Poorly organised
Breakfast was excellent, great location, clean room
The room was too small, it was a bit noisy.
Location is very good and room itself was nice
Corridors look really outdated, staff could put a little bit more effort in their friendliness
The best thing about the Milner Hotel is its location- within walking distance to Chinatown, the Public Garden and Boston Common area. The other would be the availability of a luggage storage facility. My friend and I left our luggage there for about a week when we left for Philadelphia and Washington DC. The staff is friendly. There is free wifi and a basic breakfast of toast, cereals, pastries, fruits, coffee and juices.
The double-bedded room was small with hardly enough space to put our luggages and move around. We decided not to use the extra bed requested just to free up the space. The bathroom was a tight squeeze. The door when opened comes very close to the toilet bowl. Be reminded too that those with heavy bags would need to haul them up or down the short flight of stairs.
Comfortable room with large bed and a sofa. Amazing location with theatres all around and an easy walk to Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail. Close to subway. In room coffee maker and pretty good breakfast.
Some noise on the street from nearby bar patrons (I think). Bath small with inadequate shelving/vanity.
Good location to see sights.
This was an expensive hotel for very basic facilities. The single room was tiny - i could almost touch all 4 walls with my arms out stretched! My 'room' was at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately i was woken on most nights between 2 to 3 am by crowds leaving a club who were very loud. Refuge collection starts for adjoining commercial buildings from 5 am. 6am deliveries start. Cutting to the chase - i had very little sleep and i'm usually a very good sleeper. The members of reception staff hardly lifted their heads when you were both checking in and out. The hotel prides itself on being in business since 1877. Frankly the corridor's of the hotel look like they haven't been decorated since opening weekend! To be fair, the rooms were very clean and had a fresh lick of paint. Overall not a place i would stay again. That said, i stayed in a 4 star for the remaining 6 nights at double the rate. A light world away. I suppose you pay your money and take your chance.
first room offered was unsuitable but it was changed with no charge.
Comfortable bed, nice linen, substantial breakfast, plus the basic extras if needed: iron, blow dryer, in-room coffee.
My room was tiny, with unpleasant CFL lighting & decor so not a place to hang out, just a place to rest.
Room is tiny.
the room is too small
Location, staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Staff were rude and unhelpful.
The location is dynamite. I wish the eating are could be bigger, but realize it's an old building. Very helpful and nice staff.
Our bathroom was very small. 414. We saw another room 402 which was more spacious. We could hear people until about 10 or 11, but the fan helped quite a bit
I liked I was down the hall from the front desk. As a single female traveler it was nice to be so close yet far enough away not to hear any noise. I loved the bed and the room was very small but very clean and very comfortable. I will take small over cleanliness anyday.
The building was built in 1877 so it had many challenges but for an older property, it was VERY clean and kept very nice.
