Friendly staff, anxious to please and overcome deficiencies of the facilities. All modern amenities provided (free WiFi, hair dryer, coffee maker, etc). Economical.
Rooms need a lot of maintenance, updating (furniture dates from the '50's, bathroom sink cracked).
The staff was great, very nice.
Very bad mold smell. It made me and my family sick.
The cleaning staff do eat SPEAK English. There is never any towels at the pool. No fridge or microwave. The room is in bad shape. I had to clean myself before I could use some things. There is so much wrong you don't have enough time for me to tell you everything. I would go back. For the pool and spa and the price.
Everything was so dirty. Cracks in the walls. Dead bugs, pencil shavings between the end tables and both beds. The carpet was so filthy. The room smelled of a mixture of dirty socks, fart, mildew, and cigarettes, in a non smoking room.
good value for a 6 night stay
Very poor cleaning in room, behind all desks and bed things had probably been laying around for quite some time.......
Mission Valley is a location convenient to many local attractions.
The hotel is in dire need of upgrades and general maintenance. It looks like the owners/management have given up trying.
The room was clean and the staff I had contact with were very helpful. There is a GREAT restaurant on site and the food was absolutely fantastic. The price was very reasonable. We would go back again even if we had to purchase ice.
There was no listing for the tv stations. Our tv tuner was broken and had to be replaced. All 3 ice machines were broken and only two were finally repaired. We were told to get ice from the bar, but bartender wasn't available. We had to purchase ice at the on site store.
The location on hotel circle was fine. That's about it.
Check in was tedious. People live at the hotel. Live there. The property just looked and felt tired. The room I booked, king non smoking wwasn't the room I got. Phone in room didn't work when I tried to call front desk. There was an 80's t.v. cabinet and matching big old t.v. just sad. Pool was locked and closed and also sad. It wasn't cheap either. $160 for all that sadness.
the price, thats about it
People there are RUDE! and has wierd bar which makes it worse, and I believe people live there there is no ice, you have to go to the bar to get ice, yeah! Rooms seem a little dirty no micro-wave or refrigerator no sign to tell house keeping not to come in!
Good Dinner, Bar & Package store next door.
Rooms are old and in need of updating. Bathroom had paint peeling and mold on the walls. The outside was also in need of paint and a broom on the walkways once in a while would not hurt a bit. No microwave or fridg in the room. Bottom line old and funky.
Its in a good location near shopping center movies easy access to freeway
Could of had more pictures in room looks like some one took them and was not replace
Spacious hotel area, easy access to the freeway! The price.
A bit hard to find the hotel. Old amenities. No fridge, no microwave.

price is good location
not really clean alt of homeless walking around the hotel
plain basic accommodation nice pool everything you need on site including convenience store and liquor
bare bones place not great sound insolation
Just the location
Hair in the towels Hairs in the bed Totally uncleness Staff weird Omg.... Terrible
It wad on hotel circle so , I was familiar with the area.
Felt unsafe sleeping, I could hear the people next door fighting, dirty carpet that smelled, old room and furniture, nasty bathroom.
the price, friendly staff, and great centralized location.
No balcony, musty, uncomfortable mattress.
Location is central.
Everything in the room and bathroom was falling apart and dirty. Woke up to ants in our bed!
The grounds and gardens
The smells, the drunks, the noise at night, the shifty characters humming about, the filth, the dirty walls, the broken furniture, missing lightbulbs, light switches that did not work. When I called security, the guard came to tell the noisy people to settle down and POINTED TO MY ROOM to let them know who it was bothering!
The price was good. The location was good. The grounds and gardens were beautiful. The bed was comfortable.
The carpet in my room was so dirty that after showering and getting cleaned up, I noticed my bare feet were black from the carpet and needed to be scrubbed after walking around barefoot for about 5 minutes! The staff apologised and said they would have to get the carpets cleaned, but then changed my room and checked in a new couple to the dirty room without cleaning it. There are zombie like people walking around at all hours. The noise at night was crazy. The drunks seated outside of their rooms were creepy too...then there were the roaches...and a good deal on a hotel had to be re-thought. I did not feel safe here.
I liked that this is a large property with mature and lush landscaping. Also it's great that most parking is away from the rooms. Sheets were clean and 3 comfortable pillows on each queen bed was nice. Mattresses were very comfortable.
A fairly long time ago, this "Resort" as it's still called, was a premier destination in the Fashion Valley/Hotel Circle. Over the past 10 -20 years though it has fallen into a sort of 1, possibly 2 star place to stay. It certainly does not make you feel all warm and fuzzy when you stay there. Obviously it fills a niche in the mostly overpriced San Diego hotel scene as evidenced by the full parking lot each night. But all the incoming revenue is going to just costs of operations and I will assume profit for owners. The entire facility is pretty run down. The carpets in the rooms are so old and disgusting that no matter how much Fabreese they spray, you're still walking on nasty old unclean carpets. The bathrooms haven't been updated since this place was built. The landscaping and exterior are in such need of maintenance, repair and renovation. The restaurant is pathetic at best. I feel sorry for the employees that have to work there.
For the price you pay it was not worth it. It was dirty and the stag was rude and unorganized.
The hotel. It was very dirty. It not that hard to wipe down a dirty corner or wall. The bath tub did not work. And none of the plugs work properly. Not to mention out dated everything.
Over charged for rooms, employees didn't seem to know how to do their job, employees were rude and unhelpful, charged for cancelation fees without canceling anything, manager put me on hold for 30 minutes to try and correct some of the charges and ended up not knowing what to do, rooms booked at the same time were charged at different prices, room prices advertised were different than those actually charged. This hotel...
