I travel to Queens regularly, I know I can count on a Moblat apartment in Astoria.

Apt. was much smaller then appeared on line. I should have expected that. Not nearly enough storage for belongings. No dresser drawers, only one closet which was full of stuff when we arrived. No open shelving to put thins on. Tony bathroom with no storage , shelving, medicine cabinet or hooks.
The Queens location was good. Close to airport, only about a 10 to 15 minute cab ride, and only a few blocks to subway to get into Manhattan. neighborhood was marginal, but I never felt unsafe.

You could sometimes hear the neighbors, but everyone was quiet after 10PM
The location was great. Close to stores and public transportation. Steinway Street is especially interesting. Excellent Wi-Fi, and good cable TV reception. We saved money by preparing most of our meals in the apartment, but there are many restaurants in the area.

Might not be much to look at outside but lovely clean apartment & well equipped inside! Not to all travellers tastes but myself and my partner found it was great to have your own place to relax in after a hectic day of sightseeing or shopping. It's also in a residential area so you were able to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city. But having said that there's lots to do in the area and loads of bars and restaurants near by. My only gripe was the location. It's about 10 -15 mins into city centre by tube, tubes are close by but were under construction at the time so we often had to walk a good bit to the next station and on the way home each day it can be exhausting when you've been on your feet all day. Apart from that it's a handy little spot.

-construction site next door -loud neighbors -windows did not lock -tiny bathroom with broken toilet seat
-close to subway -safe neighborhood -fast internet -clean -easy check in/out -friendly staff

Limited TV channels - not that that was super important.
Martha was very helpful in sorting out a few little issues. Prompt, friendly service. The apartment looks a bit shabby from the outside but inside it has everything to make our stay comfortable - free good wi-fi connection, good shower, great kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher and sizeable refrigerator.

I stayed for nine days and wouldn't stay here again. No air conditioning in 90-degree weather. When I told the property manager as I left, she said I should have called her to install it. I don't feel it's my responsibility to hunt down someone for an amenity that was already listed. High temperatures were predicted the week before and I packed accordingly. Why couldn't they think ahead to install the unit? The walls are paper thin. I could hear the neighbor snoring next to me on many nights and his loud conversations with others every morning. Only two towels provided for the entire week. I had to clean them mid-week just to get through. The shower door collects water, so when you open it, water pours onto the floor. It was very difficult to keep the bathroom dry. Outside, flies collected because of the shoddy garbage area. I lived in Queens for a decade, so I knew walking in, that this wasn't going to be a hotel. If you want the authentic NYC experience, this gets you close to it, but not in a good way. I think many travelers would be better served to book a hotel, where issues can be addressed by a staff.
lovely Italian bakery on corner. Laundromat on corner.

The apartment had a strong smell to bleach. It caused discomfort to my eyes and throat. The windows didn't lock. The problem was solved by Marta the next day. The linen was a little old.
