Great young upbeat vibe to the place and you can't fault the location for its proximity to bars and good restaurants...nice restaurant and bar.
We booked a suite, hoping for a little more room as we were staying 7 nights. The room was really compact and the layout was not particularly comfortable with the bathroom right next to the dining table. The concierge team were outsourced and advice varied from poor-being sent to roof top bars which were not open to the public to good at times, depending on the staff member. You had to feel sorry for these guys though-they were sat working in darkness so the Mondrian could keep its 'moody' feel. Just give them a lamp!!
The size and cleanliness of the room/bathroom was excellent.
I waited for 30 minutes for a valet to arrive to take my car. He then told me he couldn't help me with my bags (I was alone with a baby) because he had to load cars with luggage and was the only valet working (at noon on a weekend). Upon departure, the valet handed me my keys and walked away: once again, no help with luggage. Is this really a five star hotel? Service was truly lacking.
The hotel smelled amazing. Clean room.
No staff around to assist in getting a cab. Off the beaten path, cabs don't swing by very frequently.
the Perfect hotel in the perfect place
The location in the heart of Soho is great.
The hotel's design is competely impractical - from the labyrinth without signage to find the reception on the mezzanine floor, to the uber-cool, ultra-dim lighting the corridors - so dark that it's impossible to see the poor signage in the gloom and too dark for the corridors to be properly cleaned, to the lack of a proper door on our room's bathroom so that anything done in there is shared with anyone else in the room. This hotel shouts affectation without purpose.
Location , facilities
Over last months I referred many clients and friends to stay in Mondrian hotel because it's location and facilities . It was a nightmare this time with the front desk . I experienced unprofessional staff in front desk who do not know what they were doing with booking . I have two bookings via booking.com for 2 rooms . Hotel staff could not find my booking first ( the guy obiviously had not experiences with checking in. the manager came to help him to find all my reservations ) , then they combined my bookings together .Without telling me first they cancelled my other bookings and charged me more than $900 on my card . I had to come to check with them why was the cancellation ? They reassured me everything was fine. I won't be charged . But the charged was still there on my credit card . For a week I needed to spend time calling booking.com , calling Mondrian's accounting department who said they will investigate but never call back .At the end I had to come in again personally with front desk for the refund. It seemed for me the front desk really don't know what they are doing with their work . With all inconvienance it cost me it seems normal for them . As much as I like this hotel , I would not go through hell of time and energy again to refer it to my clients and friends to there .
The staff was very gracious. The room was beautiful and immaculate. Located in the heart of Soho with easy access to great shopping and transportation.
The lobby doesn't make a great first impression. The furniture looks worn and the design is odd and unwelcoming.
Location, location - it is fantastic you can walk out the door and find great restaurants, and small interesting places that aren't on the main tourist trail. Buzzing bar and restaurant too.
Paying for wifi - we didn't, and if you are paying this much for a room there is no reason it can't be free in the whole hotel.
The location the breakfast room Staff was very poor but nice
the rooms the taste of the interior design very cheap
The bar and restaurant area is light and fun, although service is patchy. The location is terrific IF you are on a high floor.
The hotel is filthy. There is barely a foot of carpet that doesn't have some stain or grubby mark on it, literally everything looked as if it needed a wash. If you are remotely OCD, do not stay here. The room was tiny, a bed and space to walk around and that's it. It had a disproportionally large bathroom though, which is a bit bizarre. Don't be attracted by the views across the city, if you are on a low floor or facing the back, you're looking at a car park. A really poor experience.
Central Soho Great bar Rooms very well positioned and served
Front desk staff disinterested almost impossible to get into hotel with suitcase when arriving late on Friday evening Front door staff reluctant to help with travel issues - calling for cabs, or advise on transport It is very much a great room, above a fabulous bar - and little communication between the two
Awsome location, great deco and amazing atmosphere!
Unreliable internet connection
dirty rooms. rooms too small. noisy AC
Very noisy, I could hear talk from the coridor as if people were in the roo
I was staying a long weekend with my two sons 24 and 26. The stay at the Mondrian was all in line with this fantastic weekend! The rooms are very nice, comfortable and functional decorated. This hotel has a Young atmosphere and Young guests. The roof top bar is Amazing with its view both South towards Wall street and financila sistrict but also North towards the sky scrapers in Midtown. Price wise good value for Money!
I am very glad for the dessition the Manager did with us, regarding the payment method, as I was looking for a solution for several months. He was finally the one to solve it. Other feedback, the food in the Restaurant is amazing The only suggestion would be to review the livings at Ground floor as they do not look very clean, and it is a pitty bevause it is a beiayiful and original Hotel.
Nice location. Swanky decor and outdoor patio.
Poor service ie concierge and bellhop.
Bed and shower was excellent
Some of the areas of the hotel were not so clean.
The hotel felt fun and cool but not pretentious. The breakfast area (glass ceilinged conservatory) was so lovely in the morning. Building felt well guarded as far as people coming in off the street.
A few late night guests having a loud conversation in the hall, but they were having a great time !
Staff was great. We have a baby and they extended our check out while he slept.
Room was not 100% clean. There was still hair in the shower.
Restaurant and bar area were fantastic. Location in Soho was great.
Lack of information in the room re: the hotel, e.g. check out times, room service, how to work air con ... Air conditioning did not work the entire time and wasn't fixed or looked at. despite repeated requests. Staff were pleasant and appeared they wanted to be helpful, but then nothing was actually done. WiFi was very unpredictable - often wouldn't connect for me. Every night we were woken by loud, on-going talk, laughter and raucous outside our door and in the corridor. There were also 2am knocks on the next door room's door by someone saying "housekeeping!".
room beautiful, nicely appointed hotel overall very nice restaurant great little things in room super nice (Malin and Goetz) staff helpful and positive
key kept not working
Obviously the money you spend gets used on making the lobby, bars and outdoor spaces very funky and cool. It was a very trendy, well decorated hotel. We had breakfast in the restaurant and the baked goods were fantastic! Highly recommend the banana bread!!
For the price you're paying ($389/nt for a "superior" rm) - i would expect at the very least that the bathroom have it's own sink not a sink where the "vanity doubles as a wet bar". No space on the vanity/wet bar for my toiletries - the 2 bottles of Voss water ($10 ea) and crystal glasses (why?) are taking up the space. No USB ports, ipod dock on clock/radio was old, no robe, and let's get a real door on the bathroom - not one that closes with a magnet. The hotel rooms don't need to be as "cool and trendy" as the lobby!
The views, upgrade on the room, food and beverage quality and service, Staff overall
Snooty types managing the entire rooftop bar experience
