My husband and I stayed in Room #1 for seven nights. We had an outstanding experience! Excellent cooking facilities in the kitchenette, very comfortable and warm bed, and great water pressure and hot water in the shower. Best wifi I've ever had at a motel, and I've stayed at quite a few motels. Lovely staff who are always happy to be of assistance. Great free parking for cars on site. One-storey building is very sound-proof. 1.5 blocks to the yellow line MAX. Super easy to get all over Portland on the MAX. We almost never used our car the entire week. New Seasons Market (awesome grocery STORE with lots of locally sourced products) is 0.9 miles from the Monticello Motel, easy to access by car or MAX. Laundry facilities are available if you ask at the front desk.
Very good value. Large room with plenty of light. Nice and clean.
No outlet in bathroom. Shower drained very slowly. Heat seemed to be either on or off with the thermostat not working.
This Motel id a great value and literally just minutes from all the fun things to do while visiting Portland.
The only thing that may annoy some could be that the shower is really small so showering with a friend is a challenge.
Room was big for the price and was very clean.
The Tram ran right down the middle of the street about every 10-15 mintues. Was pretty noisy. Not in the greatest part of town, so every noise made you want to check your car and it was hard to sleep.
The friendly staff, the availability of the kitchenette, cleanliness of the updated unit.
Constant noise all night long from the metro transit system which something that can't be helped due to the location of the facility. Also the constant interruption of sleep caused by the on and off cycles of the heating unit.
clean simple comfortable location tramline good restaurants within 10 min walk free parking
I liked the spacious room that offered a kitchenette. Clean, friendly.
Would have liked an outlet in the bathroom.
-Close proximity to a rail stop -Very clean -Nice room accommodations
-No iron/ironing board -Shower/mirror is short for tall guests
Street train is very close (too noisy)
Great big room, well-equipped, good location (about 15 minutes from downtown Portland by tram - the station is just a few minute walk from the motel), good wifi
The location is great if you are wanting value close to downtown. The neighborhood around it was clean and quiet.
A lot of things were outdated inside the rooms.
It was clean and in a good location
I put a do not disturb hanger outside the door because we didn't need our room serviced but I went to the front desk to ask for an extra towel and the man working got extremely offended about us choosing not to get our room serviced and almost did not give us a towel
Clean room, kitchenette, small neighborhood feel, so Great if you are on a budget and don't want to eat at a restaurant for every meal. Public transportation is very convienent.
Noise of the max train was loud but at least it stopped after 11pm.
Our room was huge with full size kitchen facilities, in fact it was more like a flat. The whole place was clean and very well looked after. I think this would be an ideal place for someone who was on a business trip or if you were travelling through the area. The staff were very helpful, they let us use their car park and bathroom after we had checked out.
I have reservations about the location. On the plus side it's very near the interstate and there is the train to downtown Portland right outside the door. It was this train that gave us a very negative experience. We went into Portland in the evening and the aggressive beggars and drunks travelling with us we're very scary. The next morning the same train was excellent.
awesome value for the money. clean
Value for money, clean, good amenities, small local eateries close by (not all Fast Food) coin laundry, access off I5, good access to town on train.
Train rumblings, noisy air conditioner in Room 14
This motel is on the train line, one block from a station. Very convenient to downtown without the driving/parking hassles. Large room with a kitchenette. Well worth the price.
The furnishing in the hotel room was a bit old but the room itself clean and spacious. It included a small kitchenette.
As the city tram is running right in front of the door the traffic was a bit loud at times. The bathroom was a bit small and it wasn't possible to open the window while in the bathroom because it was at street level and everybody walking by could have glanced in.
Clean, comfy bed/pillows, airy room w/working A/C, lrg kitchenette. Excellent value with nice family owned staff.
Look elsewhere if wanting modern/ultra-modern facility.
The motel owners were very friendly and helpful. The motel is central to downtown. We could go by the tram. The stop is very close to the motel. The room was big and had a kitchenette. Everything was very tidy.
It was very clean and comfortable. The location was very near the train stop.
Nice room. Lots of space. We were not there much, out a lot. But it was perfect for my daughter and I to stay a night for a wedding near by. Good access by rail from airport.
Accessible to freeway/ Having a kitchen area / close to a small grocery store
Location, cleanliness, wi-fi
