location ambience staff old world charm small / comfortable breakfast
Bed was way too soft for my liking - pure personal preference though - it was an excellent quality / new bed set!
The staff is excellent and friendly. The home is warm and welcoming and the back garden is so inviting....can't wait for another trip to Albany!
I'll need to bring my own pillow next time:) feather pillows are too smushy:)
Beautiful, unique property in a great Albany neighborhood--a real find in a city that does not have many good hotel options. Owner has created a informal, welcoming vibe and ensures guests feel comfortable.
HARD TO FIND
Building was extremely pretty, staff excellent, casual breakfast.
Bed was not very comfortable, very noisy at the back of the hotel in the morning, trash collection at 6AM example.
It was a great getaway for us. There are great restaurants in the area, nice off street parking, staff was very helpful and attentive, the rooms were reasonably priced for what you get. Close to a lot of interesting sights. We would go back there in a minute.
The Morgan State House is a great place to stay. The staff is great, the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, and the location is pleasant and close to many restaurants and stores. When I stay in Albany from now on, I plan to stay at the Morgan State House.
Chuck and Janine were very helpful hospital and friendly . They went out of their way to find gluten free bread for our son with celiac disease. I would define tilt stay again.
Clean, friendly, good location.
Location Ambiance Furnishings Historical info about the house Spaciousness Felt like I was visiting a friend's house; there was nothing on the outside to indicate that it wasn't one of the residences (it is in a residential neighborhood)
Lack of street parking on weekdays and paid parking was a block or so away Limited breakfast choices (have had better at Hampton Inns)
This is the third time we've stayed here for Albany concerts and we love it. Very pleasant environment and staff.
I don't like that people are finding out about this place and now we have to book earlier.
It was a great location and the rooms were comfortable and charming. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay a good one. I would highly recommend it.
The staff, and the area in town. Nice park good restaurant.
John and Jeanane where great host. We reserved our stay not realizing that we were staying at a Bed and Breakfast. We now believe our stay on Albany was a greater experience then if we had stayed at a chain hotel. The home was beautiful, the room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was great.
Third floor and no elevator was difficult on my knees.
I loved the main house, the staff, the garden, the "make yourself at home" attitude and the proximity to my event.
I found the mattress too soft and the area was questionable.
Relaxing atmosphere, home from home comforts. Great hospitality in a beautiful building worth a visit.
The people working there were very friendly. They recognize and know their residents. They upgraded us from just a small bedroom to their largest queen room, it was our anniversary so it was beautiful to have such an experience. Breakfast is pleasant. The hotel is beautiful and looks like a lovely Victorian house really.
When they have a lot of residents it can get very annoying. Since the hotel is basically a house you can hear everyone and get crammed when you want to have breakfast.
Breakfast conversations with the interesting guests; the beautifully decorated rooms; that I could comfortably entertain my sister & her husband in my room; that the staff was so welcoming.
Nothing that I can now recall.
The atmosphere is really special
Bed was comfortable Zachary was informative and helpful decor was beautiful
breakfast was hard boiled eggs and lenders bagels, ugh 3 flights of stairs without elevator is hard small a/c barely kept pace with 86 degree day area was a bit sketchy 10 bux to park car is too much
Handy to. Restaurants and local bus. Opposite park. Great Chinese restaurant Rain nearby in Lark Street. Microwave and fridge good. Nice courtyard, adequate breakfasts.
Room was dark, no view. room not cleaned the 4 nights we were there. Towel only replaced when I asked.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Morgan State House. The house, the room, and the garden were beautiful and exceeded our expectations. What really put the experience beyond our expectations was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Everyone we met went out of their way to make our stay in Albany enjoyable. The house is just across from the park which also adds to the setting. We will absolutely book the house again for any return trips to Albany.
The only downside of our stay were some noisy guests who were a bit loud until the wee hours of the morning. We were there on a Friday evening which probably contributed, but we were able to hear them quite clearly from our room. Surprisingly, the house was full and they were the only ones we heard.
Friendly, accommodating owners and staff.
I liked the facility and the staff very much. My room was fabulous.
I didn't feel safe walking from the parking lot on the next street to the building I was staying in. That neighborhood is not safe at night.
The staff at Morgan State House were very welcoming and helpful about places to visit in the area. The gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed breakfast outside--very zen. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the Albany area.
