Staff was very accommodating and did not charge for a night when we left early because of bad weather.
location, staff, breakfast, bathroom, wifi
the room was very dark
Great staff, a brilliant location and wonderfully comfortable beds!
The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations so they aren't functioning at maximum capacity in terms of rooms or the restaurant, but that didn't impact my stay at all.
Booking.com stated no security deposit. Even though the staff stated that no deposit was taken, they placed a hold on an amount of money until checkout was completed. This incident left me without enough money available to eat dinner and get a cab to the airport. Im a single father on a budget... Not Cool!
Location, location, location... For my purposes, the location was superb, close to everything I needed. They offer breakfast. Simple, but it does the trick. Very good hotel price for being DC. I will come again (with no luggage...) Very nice staff.
Stairs to get in, stairs to take the elevator, stairs to go to the restroom. Besides they are renovating the hotel. They bought the next-door building and they are connecting both buildings. Drilling and hammering start at 7 am unmercifully. TV inside old closet, door wouldn't stay open.
Staff was attentive. Excellent atmosphere and location.
What a gorgeous hotel! Historic, beautifully decorated. The staff was flawless, so welcoming and kind. They noticed it was my birthday the day before and sent up a bottle of wine. Excellent recommendation of place to eat dinner. This will now be the first place I consider when staying in DC!
Perfect location. Close to national park and Chinatown.
Historic features. Free continental breakfast, glass of wine in evening. Location was great.
Currently under construction, which was noisy.
Without a request, I received an upgrade on the room. Nice touch. I am a return guest at this hotel. Have come here for many years. They are always class. Good comp breakfast
friendly staffs comfortable bed homey feeling good breakfast nearby the pharmacy
The old-fashioned and historic style of the hotel and rooms are unbeatable. It is also located in a old building with a lot of history. Very friendly staff, superb wi-fi (300 mb/s!) and good location.
The rooms are poorly sealed and it becames quite cold and not sound-proof. Construction works on the hotels courtyard. The breakfast is acceptable but not good. It would be nice with ceiling lights in the room, or at least a central light button; as it is now you have to turn on all the lamps individually.
Location not far from public transportation.
Works undergoing for renovation and expansion. Should be an ideal hotel when all is completed.
Quiet hotel with quiet guests Friendly porters Excellent restoration of period property
Not willing to change rooms Poor breakfast options Heating ducts emit nasty smell Tiny rooms for price No restaurant
Comfortable beds Amazingly helpful staff Breakfast included Quiet location even though centrally located Valet parking The porch was unbelievable!
Wi-Fi in room instable Breakfast will not be included when hotel expansion is done
Staff provided excellent service and very caring
The staff were always helpful and willing to assist. They made me feel valued and respected. The building is under renovation and I got to see it while still as it had been for decades,
The morning breakfast was too continental. Limited choice of fruit and nothing for gluten free. In their defense, they are under renovation and have no kitchen
The day we arrived was really hot, so the receptionist welcomed us with two bottles of cold water! Then in the lobby we found cold iced tea and cookies. Breakfast was really good too.
It's a bit far to walk from Union station.
Construction workers were working all night at one of the other buildings of the hotel.
Friendly Staff, nice location, clean and good value for money
on going construction works
outdoor breakfast possible (and very tasty) well...everything!
The location was good. It was close to public transport. The staff were excellent and helpful. Good breakfast.
Return lodger (2nd stay). Location is excellent and each time (yea!) found free on-street parking within sight. Staff congenial, refined and reserved. A boutique-type hotel with the charm lacking in chain-hotels that offers good value at Booking.com rates.
Absence of silverware - even plastic ware - at breakfasts (particularly odd given Morrison serves dinner); long wait for utensils to show up. And if we hadn't learned early to push the "close door" button on the elevator, we might still be there 4 weeks later (grin).
Great historic inn. Maintain the character.
Due to building work next door there were some disturbance. Breakfast was very basic.
Architecture of the building
Low value for money. Greed.
