Location is perfect... Can go anywhere by foot....
Staff very helpful. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was a bonus
View from front room (floor 10) was great. Room size was big for NYC. Room and bathroom clean. Even with 2 queen sized beds there was room to walk around them. Bathroom large too. Close to 4 metro stations. Felt safe on Mulberry St. Close to good Chinese and Italian restaurants.
Desk staff not too helpful. Breakfast (3 doors down) was nothing to write home about. Mattress quite soft (old?). Chair was quite old. Seat needed to be refurbished so you didn't feel like you are sitting in a hole. Duvet covers drab and spotted.
I loved the staff, the location, the tranquil scene outside my window, the amenities, the coffee with real half and half, the cleanliness of the room and the comfortable bed. I would definitely go again even though it is a bit pricey for my pocketbook.
Morning staff were very helpful. Night staff were a little rude.
Rooms were a little outdated and sparce.
My room was dark, and the services were not the same as my friend who booked a non refundable room by a long shot. Also the road was blocked with a funeral next door and got soaking wet to get to my cab.
Generous sized room Really comfortable beds Mamas breakfasts were great with friendly staff Interesting neighbourhood- different perspective on NYC Free coffee in the lobby
Slow wifi Reception staff a little disengaged Noisy plumbing
The room was clean and fair in size. It is situated in a very convenient area which is close to the subway. The breakfast voucher was for a restaurant a few doors down that had excellent food and great service. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is comparable to most Canadian hotels in room size. People who don't like this hotel have extremely high expectations. It was great! I travelled with my sister and her 9 and 13 year old. We all felt safe and it was a 5 min walk to the nearest subway.
The only thing that I can say I dislike is the price. However, all hotels in Manhattan are over priced for what you are getting. Therefore, if you are looking for something more affordable don't stay in Manhattan. Check out Queens or Brooklyn.
The location of the hotel is great for lawyers travelling to the Second Circuit courthouse, and being located in Chinatown and two short blocks from Little Italy was great in terms of dining options. The room was clean and comfortable if not large and everything worked. The staff was courteous and reasonably helpful. Fairly nice view of the new WTC as well from my room. Breakfast voucher gets you enough to eat and although the fare was not gourmet it was suitable enough.
The outer surroundings of the hotel at night were just okay and there was a certain amount of street noise and other hotel noise you could hear at times, but this is a city and it did not affect sleeping.
Lovely hotel, great room, comfy beds, amazing power shower and friendly staff. We also liked staying in Chinatown/Little Italy. You got more for your money (whoever writes spacious room on a mid Manhattan review?) and we had a lovely 'local' evening out at an Italian less than 5 mins away from hotel - v chilled.
Not being too central was one of the plus points of hotel, but also its downside. Asking NY cabbies to go to Chinatown was like asking London cabbies to drive south of the river a decade ago. One refused, most grumbled but still took the fair. Dont be fooled by maps either - it will take a good half an hour plus to get uptown, the travelling can be tiring if doing a couple of times a day. Is nearer Ground Zero/ Statue of Liberty though - so pros and cons.
Condition of property Attention to details Quiet Comfortable
Breakfast in Little Restaurant Four Doors next to the hotel is included and excellent
10 Minutes Walk to Subway
These have to be the most comfortable beds in NYC. Friendly, helpful staff and lovely breakfast in the nearby cafe. Would definitely stay here again - if only for the wonderful view of the world trade centre from bed. Fantastic.
Full cost of the stay taken from my credit card 3 days before I even arrived - what a shock! Make sure you book with the card you intend to pay with!
Room fully refreshed every day
Would have preferred 2 rooms on same floor. Considering we booked months in advance I would have thought organising this would be straightforward
Great view of the park The Chinatown vibe Near subway stations Easy walk to soho
Being hassled on canal street every time we when to get the subway
fantastic bed and really great shower!! staff were really friendly and the breakfast was good - nothing special but it's included!
Location Cleanliness of room
Breakfast at nearby restaurant served on plastic plates and plastic knives and forks.
Lovely room, superb location in the middle of Chinatown, helpful and friendly staff, really good breakfast. Absolutely no complaints and will definitely stay again whenever I visit NYC.
Comfy Bed, Reasonable sized room, Shower always had hot water,Clean, tidy and safe neighbourhood. Friendly and helpful staff in the hotel and at Mamas cafe, where breakfast is served
A bit far from nearest subway station, especially at night
I liked that you could that all the lower Manhattan neighborhoods were in walking distance.
Place and room was clean and I was surprised. Place looks updated. Free Breakfast is next door.
Comfy bed. Modern/new feeling of room.
Very small room. The breakfast is a laugh. You get a voucher and walk 4 shops down to the left to an eatery. The choice is limited, the taste is bland and the staff do not smile even if you try! 'pick-what-you-want-sit-down-and-wait' attitude. Granted that none of them use English as their first language so communication might the reason for that. Why you cannot get coffee in reception in the afternoon and evening goes beyond me! Not value for money at all!
Loved the location! Sandwiched between Chinatown and Little Italy. So many dining options and cultural exposure. It was very cool to see the Asian ladies doing Tai Chi each morning in the park across the street Great breakfast, clean and welcoming lobby.
The room was a bit tired. Could have used a coat of paint and some fresher bedding. The vent in the bathroom provided access to the room directly above. I listened to this guest's rap music while getting ready in the morning. WIFI was terrible.
The best part about Hotel Mulberry was it's downtown location. I loved being in Chinatown submersed in the Asian culture. Directly across the street was a park where you saw martial arts training to kid soccer games. Then, just a few blocks away you end up being in little Italy.
The lack of control of the air temperature.
