Location, nice ocean view, could hear ocean lapping up against the shore. Quiet and peaceful.
Parking lot was dark, rooms and hall ways were very spartan. Room clean and adequate but had a very cold ambience. Elevators are ugly and appear dirty
It is still on renovation, so it is not so like a real hotel.
Proximity to ocean. Listening to the waves as I went to sleep. Nearness to parks.
Long walk to downtown.
Location, good beds
Wifi not working yet, under renovation
Loved having a bay front room. Improvements are still happening and they look good. No frills hotel but its basic and works. Loved the fresh flower arrangements each day at the desk.
Being charged for a cot in the room.
everything。they dont even have a chair
Staff nice, big room, comfort
saw some roaches during the day in the room... didn't really like that.
NICE STAFF GOOD PARKING GOOD LOCATION
TILE FLOORS IN BEDROOM; NO CURTAINS OR DECORATIONS ON WALL VERY PLAIN
refrigerator didn't work. no air conditioning. television snowy.
Good location, easy access to airport if you have a car, free parking
Under construction, very noisy construction going on that woke me up in the morning, also no wi-fi in room nor in lobby area due to construction work
Location is nice.
Much of the hotel is being updated. A sign in the elevator explained there would be painters working during the weekdays. We were woken early Saturday morning by painters preparing to paint. They were not quiet and they shouldn't have been there. Not cool. Management did nothing about it. They simply said "sorry".
Naniloa has been under renovations quite sometime I stayed there two years ago prior to this trip, and nothing has changed aside from moving the main lobby downstairs for renovations. There is no room phones, no where to eat on the premises it like a ghost town! If you are needing a place just to sleep than this is the place to go but if your looking for comfort you won't get it here.
The location and grounds
The new remodeling which is cold and uninviting. The smells...mold and other unpleasant odors throughout the building. Room was small for the price and not cleaned thoroughly....dusty. No bedspreads on the beds. No balcony. Windows hard to open and no curtains but instead heavy wooden sliders. High "wall" to climb over to get into shower and modern-style sink leave little space and is ugly. General new "modern" style is not comfortable, warm or inviting. Lobby under construction and the lovely old ballroom and downstairs room that once thrived are in disrepair and full of junk.
Good location, good views
No wifi in rooms, have to go to lounge. General hotel aircon/machinery noise quite loud in room
Location. Near airport and national volcano park..
Room was suitable for college kids. Waterbugs found crawling around room. After that my wife looked in the bed and discovered more bugs. Tiny. But still visible. Hotel was under construction. Not told in the brochure. .call ahead for bug control..
This hotel is in DESPERATE NEED of MAJOR RENOVATIONS!!! It is FAR TOO OLD! Should not even be used in this condition! FAR TOO MUCH MONEY for an old place like this!!!!!
The worst hotel I stayed at in Hilo
The problems encountered at registration. The room was the worst room and I've stayed in many rooms during stays in Hilo
I had an ocean front room for $129.00
The hotel is under renovation and is very tired. There is a dirth of restaurants with walking distance.
Location to national park , waterfalls key points of interest.
Hilo is sleepy town , zero night life but we're here to explore key areas. Kona has higher end hotels restaraunts etc but it's 2.5 hours drive one way to volcano park. Tho Kona much more aesthetically pleasing
The location is good. But that's about it.
It basically is a dump. I assume that any positive reviews must be very old because the place is really run down and desperately needs refurbishment. Take the outdoor pool e.g. - it is so dirty that no-one uses it. Really disgusting. My room smelled awful - like a very moldy smell as if there had been a water leak. Probably hasn't been painted or renovated for at least a decade or two. I could also hear my next door neighbor making creepy noises all night, so sound travelled very easy between our rooms. The staff were pretty much at the same level as the rest of the hotel: Terrible. Clearly no training in basic service and friendliness. Not a smile and not particularly helpful. All in all - stay away from Hilo Naniloa. As least until they have refurbished it - or just knocked it down and rebuild.. which is probably the best.
Great location and outlook. it should be great after renovations are completed.
Lack of facilities, such as coffee shop, cafe or bar during renovations. Dirty laundry.
The view, location
Had to ask for clean sheets, problem with towels
The room was beautiful, clean, and quiet. Wonderful view of the ocean!
The elevator needs to be updated.
Location for airport and town.
Scruffy, no meals, facilities closed, dark, car parking with loiterers.
