The location was the best thing about this hotel.
Too much to list....sorry but true story. I'm not one to judge so maybe check it for yourself?
Good location, nice view over the water and patio, parking, I liked the design of the room, just the "shades" (big wood panels) were strange but effecive.
No wifi in bedroom
Close to Airport Nice bay walk Great view
Wifi only at lobby Old and damaged furniture at room
Friendly staff, beautiful reception and its surriundings including terasse, good basic equipment After some improvements (restaurant, shopping center) this hotel will become a great place to stay
No restaurant on site, obsolete lifts, soime shoppimg center would be welcome as well for such a sizeable hotel
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful. Gorgeous view.
Elevators carpets were very stained and had a funky smell. No Wi-Fi. No phones in the room, so if you needed to talk to the front desk you had to leave your room to do it.
Location, view. The housekeeping staff was awesome.
The elevators were smelly. I met a random person at a convention two weeks later on a different island who experienced the same at the naniloa hotel. It was funny. It's ok. Renovation understood.
Free golf including clubs and location
Entire property needs updating
This is an old, no frills hotel in a pretty location. But we needed a quick stay in Hilo before heading to the other side if island and it was fairly inexpensive.
It's definitely not a romantic, beds were small and saggy, rooms and light austere, elevators where downright tragic.
Location is good.
I felt I was in a third world country
Open air lobby to greet you when you first arrive. Wonderful view of the bay. Very clean. Banyan Drive a wonderful shady place on which the hotel is located. Two miles to downtown Hilo and very close to the airport. Rates were very reasonable.
The lady at the counter was really nice. 8/3/14 evening time
Didnt know where we was going, told the lady that i have a child an they gave me a room with tiled floor. Balcony was really scary, it was a sliding window an a drop. Nice staff but needs a lot of maintenance an remodeling. Not a good family vacation hotel!
Honestly, where do I begin? The hotel looks run down. I've never been to a halfway house (thankfully), but based on what I've seen on TV, this hotel resembles one. The hallways, lights and elevators are all run down. There are scuff marks, dirt, grime, and flickering lights like a horror movie. We were on the 6th floor and when we exited the elevator, I seriously told my wife: I've seen horror movies that start like this. A lot of what has already been said applies here: you're given an actual key, not a key card, there's no wifi in your room -- only in the lobby -- and you only have wired internet. The TV in the room is in the very top corner of the room -- yes, near the ceiling. The TV signal/picture was horrendous (don't tell me it's because of satellite on the island, the place where we ended up staying has crystal clear pictures). There's no phone so you can reach front desk! This is an enormous hotel complex. For me to reach the front desk I either have to go downstairs or search on my phone for the number and dial out from my cell? Continuing on...my room didn't have an iron/ironing board. The toilet looks like it's from a public school. The room itself was filthy. There was a disgusting sticky substance on the wall. The sheets and pillow case were stained. The fitted sheet for the bed? There wasn't one. When we removed the top cover, it revealed a bed that was only partially made. Either they ran out of linens or room service gave up and stopped. Also, our room only had one nightstand! Our room was literally four walls with a desk and one hanging rack. The sliding wood frames that take the place of blinds or curtains didn't slide smoothly. I literally had to pick it up, one at a time, and then move it over. The good? The A/C works (kind of). It was very slow to cool things off. The view on the balcony is nice -- but it overlooks the disgustingly dirty hotel exterior.
the view was great
the plumbing need to be fixed
Location was great, room fairly nice. Dangerous bath tub. Needs some anti-slip guards in the tub.
Either the maid had it in for me or she had a mental block. Every day had to go get something.
I had a large suite with amazing views. It was stunning. The grounds are beautiful and the location right on the water was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The place seemed to be neglected. The lifts smelt, there was no restaurant, the air-conditioner on the roof made my whole room vibrate and with the noise it was difficult to sleep. The hot water took around 7 minutes to come through. The kitchen was missing glasses etc. The whole place just needs a little TLC. IF it was managed well and renovated it would be a top place.
Location is good.
Great location away from touristy Kona. Nice pool. Close to volcanoes, waterfalls and other attraction.
Front desk staff were rude and slow to respond. Having WIFI only in the lobby meant it was very difficult to plan road trips, also made it noisy and crowded. Disappointed when the room was cleaned that the bed was never made - very poor.
Simple price effective ! Excellent price & all essential . Little noise from pesky coqui frogs
Hallways a bit loud with tile , but less noise due to coqui frogs - a plus . Able to sleep without coqui . But hallway loud when guests are loud , Eco from tile hallway . But price low keeping maintenance at minimum with simple decor. All in all - a good experience , I will stay again when in Hilo . Mahalo
Location and price pretty good
Rooms were small; hotel was older and needed a facelift.
The desk staff was very helpful
One young man was very rude.i did reported him to the manager that was in turn.
I like the fact of Ohana
No WIFI in the room
the location, the staff, and the future. Looking forward to the renovated Naniloa.
We had a nice ocean view of Hilo Harbor and a bit of Hilo. It had been nicely renovated since my last stay there a few years ago. The bed and room were comfortable. I was able to take many ocean/Harbor photos from my small lanai.
Nothing in particular.
Cheap, nice staff and they are trying...
While rooms are "renovated", hotel is what it is - old Fine for the money though
The location is wonderful. The lay-out of property is great. Staff (front desk Dale and houseman Renaldo) were especially nice and very helpful.
The Wi-Fi in lobby only. Hotel furniture was shabby in lobby. Would be nice if there was a kids room in lobby and a working big screen there too. The renovations can't come soon enough. Put a restroom outside near pool and small pitch-n putt nearby on lawn.
