Good Location, cheap price. very simple breakfast, but good enough!
Do not expect very hygienic bathroom.
We stayed here for two nights reluctantly before moving somewhere else - it was disgusting. Unclean, unsuitable for human inhabitation! No amenities in the room, just a bed and a roof with a hole in it. We arrived back on our second day to find a notice on the door from the Department of Buildings saying, 'VACATE DO NOT ENTER - the conditions in this building have been deemed imminently perilous to life.' Don't go here!!!!!
Sharing a bathroom (though it worked out fine)
The location is very nice, near the highline, comfortable area, good 24h places to eat. And the breakfast was nice for a hostel.
The bedroom are nice sized, but the mattress and bed are terrible, couldn't have a nice sleep unless I were really tired and we can't open the windows, so the air inside is barely renovated!!! We only have wi-fi at the reception, which is NOT a comfortable place to hang around and socialize.
Location, Free breakfast! NICE front desk people.
I do wish the cleaning ladies would clean better.
The room are very bad. The bathrooms are not good too. If you want a good travel to New York find a better place to sleep.
I love the location. It was close to everything and very clean and welcoming. The staff was amazing. Anything I needed I got. They were friendly and cute lol.
The room was so insanely small. The bed was a full size platform with no box spring or matress. It was a matress pad.
Location is good
Bed bugs will eat you alive. They need to take care of their bed bugs infestation. Be careful not to bring the bugs into you home
Good price, good location, clean room.
Sign posted on door that said vacate hazard to life, with about 6 rooms listed. Workers at desk said they did know what it ment. Bathrooms very wet.
The hotel has a great location, good breakfast, good price and is suitable for young people.
I like the location.
The bathroom was dirty. Maybe because of the people who were using it. There are 2 or 3 bathrooms for the whole floor and they were all dirty at the end of the day and were still dirty in the next morning. I didn't sleep much because of the noise from the traffic and people occasionally yelling from the street. Bed wasn't comfortable.
The breakfast was good.
The girl at the front desk didn't seem to care much about the people staying there. She did talk to other guys that worked there a lot.
Wi-fi only downstairs. Everyday the same breakfast. Bathroom was always occupied. Staff leave front desk unattended.
Cheap, good location, god people, not too much comfortable but ok..
Boxy rooms, people coming and going all night banging doors and screaming
It was close to my bus
It's a shame I only have 200 characters - it smelled, beds were disgusting and not cleaned from the previous person, the pillow was non existent, no towel for the shower, bathroom was disgusting, and I think it actually made me unhealthy while was there
Great experience, well located in Manhattan (corner of 11th Ave & 23rd Street) which meant I could walk everywhere I wanted, or easily catch the subway which was a couple of blocks down. The crosstown bus also stops directly outside the door which is convenient. The area certainly felt safe enough and lively enough for me to walk around by myself after dark (obviously keep your wits about you as in any big city, but I had no concerns). The check-in staff was friendly, and they offer a free breakfast which was great for me as I was on a budget. It's fairly basic, but hey it's free and it was decent! Bagels, coffee, orange juice. what more do you need! And if you do, there are loads of places nearby that you can go. The shared bathrooms were obviously in high demand (though I still never had to wait for a bathroom), so after the morning rush hour they certainly looked used (hairs, water on the floor) but - it's a hostel, not a hotel. For anyone used to backpacking and needing cheap accommodation, this place is perfect. And for those of you have backpacked before, you know to take a pair of dedicated bathroom flip flops :) Definitely recommended. As others have mentioned, there is no lift, and I was on the 4th floor but I didn't mind at all. I've actually never been in a hostel with a lift. I always carry my own luggage (if you can't, you've packed too much!), and it was probably a bit quieter than downstairs. My earplugs easily drowned out street and aircon noise, and I slept really well. The aircon worked great, and because they are 2bed dorms, you can easily work out a temperature that suits you both. There is a sink in the room which is so handy, so for brushing your teeth etc you don't need to go and find a bathroom. The bathrooms are single ones (not multiple showers) with a shower and toilet in the same room. The dorms also have secure lockers, so bring a padlock if you want to use it.
only one bunk bed in the room when they could have squeezed two bunk beds in the space
When you walk up to the entrance posted on the door is an eviction notice from the health dept. for a half a dozen rooms for unsafe conditions...Not Good!!!
Chelsea highline made mAnhatton the best experience ever!! Hold tight carlos !!! Great guyyyy
Location was great, right around the corner from the beautiful Chelsea Highline park.
Facilities were awful. There were holes in some bathroom ceilings/walls, a sink had been ripped away from the wall in one bathroom. The bed was very rocky and squeaky, the mattress very thin, the airconditioning very loud and no other ventilation (so it was the choice of not sleep due to the loud AC or sleep in a very stuffy room). The cheapest I could get ended up as $50 per night with tax, which seemed very expensive for what was a very uncomfortable stay.
Value for money Cleanliness
The AC unit was noisy
Location! Free breakfast - simple but nice
wifi - just in the lobby I was waiting for someone to clean my room and make my bed after check in time
Location, price, clean. Safe, nobody messed with my stuff. Pleasant staff.
As any other hostel, sharing a room with a person you don't know is not really comfortable. But they matched me only with girls, what I appreciated.
everbody who stay in chelsea highline are students. Its good.
breakfast was terrible. bads are uncomfortable. but If I think New York and price, I can say it was good.
