- great location - breakfast included (coffee, muffins and bagels)
- mattress not comfortable - very noisy ( rooms in front of the streets) - not clean everywhere (especially bathrooms)
Great location value for money friendly staff
Thin mattresses showers cleanliness (due to guests) Noisy on weekends
The price was reasonable, and the place was close to where I needed to be. I called ahead when I needed to check in late, and everything was handled like no problem. There was coffee in the morning -- no lid for the cup, but there was coffee! This is all I wanted and needed. We were not given towels, and had to ask for them -- no problem, got towels as soon as I asked.
The blanket on the bed was old and tattered, and the doors tended to slam... but really, this was no big deal and I got a good night of sleep.
Cheapest around (but still overpriced for what was offered)
23 rooms on a floor with only 3 bathrooms(!) Very noisy as right on busy intersection and traffic horns beeping all night. New York Comic Con was on so price for room was inflated. No food allowed in room.
The distance between the most well known places of NY and the hostel is insignificant and walkable. The underground is near.
The noise form the next to the hostel building reconstruction. It was on and off between 7 am and 10 pm.
Matresses were too old and were not even the size of the beds in the twins. They didnt change the sheets and do not offer towels nor any shampoo in the showers. The fact that there is no wi fi in the rooms is also a big downside to his place, which although very well located, is still far from being totally worth the money you pay for it.
Nearest Starbucks for a decent breakfast, at 20 minutes walk!
all staffs are friendly and they are happy to help you
The price is excellent and the location is very good.
Clean and silent.
Wind pass through the windows and when it's cold wheather, you need to use your own clothes to be warm. In addition, cold shower for the whole weekend, maintenance problems.
We had a private room with two twin beds which worked out great! The staff was very helpful and the $4 fee for storing a bag during the day was very reasonable.
A little farther away from the nearest subway station than we were hoping for, but a little walk never hurt anyone!
The location, that's it!
The staff was rarely available and did not care of anything, especially when the key card was not working (it happened every night of our stay!). About the room, the blankets were dirty and our window were facing a building under construction whose light was illuminating our room all night long (curtains were almost transparent!). It was quite noisy too... Breakfast was included but it was really not worth it (fluorescent orange juice and only coffee or muffins and cinnamon bread). A place that I would not recommend at any price!
Not a bad location in Chelsea, some galleries nearby, coffe and food about two blocks away.
Bathrooms not clean, showers useless, lobby, or "lobby" very uncomfortable, beds also, with pillows and sheets like in a prison! If you mena, like me, to spenda ALL your time in the city and only sleep in this hotel, then this is your choice for the money
The price is nice if you can't afford NYC hotel prices.
A friend and I stayed their this past weekend and I originally gave a fair review based on price, even though I'm 90% sure that the "mattresses" are actually box springs and the walls and windows are so paper thin that sleep is hard to come by. not to mention the blankets are thin, holey and appear to be ravaged by moths. I however had to recant my previous review this week. By Wednesday morning after coming home, I wont up with what appeared to be itchy red gnat or mosquito bites on my arms and hands. Considering the break in weather, I ignored it. By Friday morning, they had spread all over, my neck, back, and legs. I called my friend, who also reported experience itchy bumps all over her legs. We went to our separate doctors and were both diagnosed with Scabies, a flesh eating mite infestation that burrows into your skin and lays eggs and feces. The only common factor we have is this hostel we stayed at, and had switch beds the second night because we were having trouble sleeping for different reasons. Thankfully this condition is easily treated and clothes and bedding can be cleaned in hot water or dryers. Since this is the case, it says to me that this hostel does not clean its bed linens or blankets well, sanitized in hot water. I know the cheap price is enticing but I caution anyone who wants to stay here to beware of the unclean premises. If this is the only place you can afford then BRING YOUR OWN BED THINGS and strip the beds of the linens and blankets they give you. Have parasites ravage your body is disgusting and we are definitely getting what we paid for by going for a cheap hostel.
Helpful staff, fair price, decent location
Everything too old, ugly ruined walls, no elevator, bad windows
Friendly staff, simple but unexpected breakfast, good for the value.
Street Noise in the front rooms.
location, it was cheap
whole hotel smells really weird, i saw a bad bugs in there!!!, hole in the ceiling at my room!!!, no internet connection in my room, unsave feeling, construcion works on the street starts at the morning
the price, the location
the comfort, some more sheets would have been great
the location, is not too far form the subway and close to downtown.
The room was not as the pictures advertised; terrible quality bunk beds that felt they would fall just by climb in it up...once laying down...ooh boy, not even breathe or it would jiggle and crack. 2 out of 3 staff I dealt with acted out as if they were making me a favour and i had to pay for my bag to be kept after check out time in a non locked room (?????). Only 3 washrooms for a whole floor of over 20 rooms. Might stay again just for convenience of location and now with a cleared knowledge of what to expect.
right next to high line park near to meat packing district - good nightlife
no kitchen facilities not great value compared to similar hostels few toilets shared between many no lift, stairs only
Neighborhood, in spite of being in the end of Chelsea, the location is not bad
Staff super USELESS, not helpful AT ALL I arrived around 14:30 and had to wait until 15:00 to get my room If you need information about ANYTHING they have NO IDEA or do not care but I always had to get the information outside
This hotel was easy to get to and the location was great. The staff were very helpful and recommended a lot of places for us to visit. We were also offered breakfast which was free and consisted of bagels or muffins, as we were on a budget this was great.
mold in the 4th floor bathroom tub area. loose facet handle. no information about public transportation. after 3 days the breakfast was boring
