I will NEVER recommand this hotel. It was was the worst hotel ever. The rug was so dirty and dusty. The room is more than small, the bed stunk. The bathroom was horrible. We checked-in for two nights, we didnt even stay one!

Very friendly staff, helpful, accommodating. Great location. Not too loud for being in a busy area.

This place is no longer in its heyday, but you can see it used to be much nicer. A bit rundown, in a sort of hostel-rooming house way. One thing to know -- no lift, but staff will bring luggage up. Many rooms are posted with notices on the doors that they are closed to rental due to failing fire code inspections, so you may be the only one on your floor! There weren´t any discernible fire escapes...

Very bad , not clean. Furniture is very old , bed is about to braek , no cupboard, bathroom is very small, no place to stand to wash your face. No room service, breakfast you have tobring your food with you as ther serve only toast, crowasonand cup cake with jam and butter.

I travel alone, so I need a place that I feel safe and protected by the staff members, and I did in the new york inn hotel; this is the second time I have been there and I plan to go again and again, as long as I continue getting the good service and attention we all deserve. I do highly recomend it; oh, the free continental breakfast was delicious!; I highly recomend this hotel.

No elevator, but they took care of transporting my luggudge; the price and loving warm attention, compensated for it; I asked for a room on the 1st floor and they pleased me.

Location and price.

Quality, smell, cleanliness, safety. Multiple signs on the door ordering the building to be vacated. Construction occurring in my hallway. Funky smell in building and room. Bed strangely stained, with unidentified red substance on mattress. Towels dirty.

No attention to detail and it was not clean. The carpets were dirty, stained and visually unpleasant. I struggled to maintain a comfortable water temperature in the shower. It was too cold or too hot.

This was a last minute trip and this was available. The front desk fellow was nice and agreeable. Um, the bed was clean and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast is included, but I thought it safer to eat elsewhere. Oh! And free wi-fi! And while I don't think they are technically in the Theater District, the location is convenient if you know the city and you don't want to be stuck in a busier area.)

On the other hand, the hotel itself was a mistake on my part. I was a little taken aback by the notice to vacate due to hazardous building conditions still on the front door from 2010; my room had the wonderful scent of mildew; the heating was a space heater that was probably safer than the baseboard (joking; the baseboard heater was burned out, from all appearances); the space heater was inadequate, but the bedding was warm enough. The lamp by the bed was broken and altogether, it reminded me of the kind of place you'd stay in the meat-packing district back in the seventies for a few bucks a night. It did, on the bonus side, remind me of a place I stayed in India. On the other hand, the place in India didn't cost $117 us. Another quibble is that it's hard for me to believe that New York Inn gets $199 + hotel tax on a regular basis (I picked this because the markdown was too good to be true.) Also, technically, they're not in the theater district, just a smidgen out of it and into the meat-packing district. For the price, I could have stayed in the bowery or Chinatown or even a couple of other places I know of...heck, I could have gone back to Hotel Indigo in Brooklyn. Honestly, it's not the worst place I've stayed and I think they're probably really nice people, but I'll be going back to my usual options for my next trip. I wish them the best and I'm sure they'll do okay (I may quibble about the location's description, but it is convenient.)

Bed was so uncomfortable !!!!., No elevator :( we know that before but the stairways areso tiny and the steps are so high its was very difficult and exhausting to get up to the 4th floor. We probably enjoyed more if we could get a room in the first floor!!!! Breakfast is basic only croassant and a bread with coffe . but it was cheap .

In my stay, i found New York Inn is OK, especially if you're looking for a good price and yet BEST location ever! reading others review before, i should say, it depends what you are really looking for..but for me, our stay was comfortable and we didn't have any trouble at all..i will consider to book again in the future..

Eng: the location is excellent, the price is very low, but, you get what you pay for: the building is old, the rooms are small and lack comforts. Though: the breakfast is good enough, the staff is very friendly and helpfull, the room and bathroom were clean. No sign of rats or bed bugs. Come here, sleep only in the hotel and save money for the shopping! Ita: la posizione è eccellente, il prezzo è basso (per la zona), ma, si ottiene ciò per cui si paga: l'edificio è vecchio, le stanze sono piccole e non ci sono comfort. Detto questo: la colazione è suficientemente buona, lo staff è cortese e disponibile, la stanza e il bagno sono puliti. Non abbiamo visto né ratti né pidocchi o altro. Alla fine se cercate un hotel economico giusto per dormire questo è ottimo, potete risparmiare soldi da usare per lo shopping, ci vuole solo un po' di spirito di adattamento.

Everything! It was old, cold, dirty, bathroom is too small, toilet and sink are not fitted properly, mould, bed bugs, the staff are rude, the old man at the desk couldnt even work the computer... AVOID!!!! Most of the rooms were shut down by the city of new york!!!

The staff were fantastic, very friendly.

I knew it was old when I booked it, but I didn't realize how much in need of repair it was, I also knew there was no lift, but the stairs are very steep and in need of repair. The room was tiny , but clean on arrival. My sheets weren't changed for the 10 days I was there. I wish I'd spent a little more and got a bit of luxury. But, it was a fantastic location.

Very friendly people at the main desk. If you are easygoing and need a "cheap" place where to stay, this is a decent option. This is what you can get for that price in NYC.

The hotel is dangerous for the public health (some rooms are already selaed by the federal autorities). The rooms are dirty, windows broken, no heating, no hot water, space is really limited. I paid $250/night for a hole in the middle of Manhattan. Pay $50 more and stay at a decent 4star hotel.

It is a crumbling, dirty, poorly accessible mess. Horrible. Appr $250/nite for its location... I have even stayed in tents that were cleaner. Two of the rooms on our level had VACATE orders from the city due to inoperative fire escape ladders. You need to stop listing this as acceptable. The rug looks 50-60 years old with stains, dirt, dust. The stairs are a narrow, rickety mess. Beds were a miss-matched single leaning/squeaky bunk bed and a narrow standard. No cover on the little one, and only 6 inches between the pair. The blankets, bedspread are not washed regularly. The mini frig was unplugged and full of mold. The bath had a toilet that you had to lift the tank lid to make it fill and flush properly. Like many NYC hotels its rooms are extremely narrow--maybe 8' x 8': Holes in walls and doors, no recent painting in the last 10-15yr. It is filthy, crumbling, atrocious unacceptable mess. We referred to it as our filthy, falling-apart closet.

It is old, run-down and has no elevator. I is a very basic, small room with a bathroom like a closet. We still had to pay over 4200 per night because we stayed in December.

The staff is wonderful

The hotel is literally falling apart. It is very small, in need of repair, dirty, and dangerous. For example, a number of rails were missing from the staircase, which is very steep with uneven steps. We had a reservation for 2 nighs but stayed just one night.

Situated in a great location, most of the staff we dealt with were extremely helpful beyond what I have experienced at other, more expensive hotels. The rooms (in fact the building) were a bit run down but very clean and we had nothing break.
