This stylish Manhattan hotel is located in the Theater District and is 3 blocks from Times Square. It offers a 24-hour gourmet pantry and rooms with a 32-inch flat-screen TV.
Score from 1773 reviews Very good
Right next to Penn station and well within walking distance of anything of note. The hotel has improved since I last stayed there and it was above average then. Staff are helpful and the Tick Tock Diner is in the same building which is handy for a retro breakfast. Room is average sized but of high quality and proved ideal for a short trip to the Big Apple.
Don't really have any gripes...ice machines could be on all floors...that's about it. I suppose check-in could have been a lot quicker as there was a 15 minute wait to get seen...but you could check out via your TV screen so that was instantaneous.
location referbished rooms
bathroom could be refreshed room can be a little dark storage not great noisy pipes - but old building
Walking distance to so many things in Manhattan. Rooms were bigger than I expected for NY. Customer service excellent - provided a great crib for my infant.
Vending machines were out of water every time I tried the ones on our floor. Also would be nice to have a kettle in the room. Minor quibbles really!
The internet is just free for 12 hours
The location was very good, close to time Sq and Macy's. The entrance to the hotel was very grand and impressive. The concierge staff (Daniel and Susan) were very helpful.
The first room we were in was TINY. However, upon request we were able to move to a slightly larger room on the 20th floor. The transport desk guy, Lewis was very rude and abrupt and we did not end up booking a shuttle through him. You had to ask for coffee in the room upon request.
Staff were friendly. Convenience to penn station.
I was not happy with bathroom.....small, was crowded!
I enjoy the situation and the design
The price is more expensive
We've stayed here twice and noticed a difference in quality 5 years later. The position is brilliant but the rooms look old and tired now. The staff aren't very warm or friendly either - hotel reception staff don't realise that they leave a lasting impression on your whole stay and when they ignore you and continue their conversation, it can't be undone. It's not a show stopper, but attention to details like this would make the hotel a lot better.
The noise. It started early and woke us up every morning and no-one warned us about it. i'm sure the hotel will be great after the renovations but for now it's not very relaxing.
Close to Madison square gardens but not too far from Times Square etc. all night diner for coffee.
Way over priced for room size and services. Not enough bar area where as before was a nice size bar with bar food now restaurant and awkward to sit at bar.
Close to Penn Station. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. Security of elevators was well handled with pleasant security. Tick Tock Diner was convenient. My bed was comfortable and since I was on an upper floor the room was quieter than I expected.
Windham Hotels recently purchased the New Yorker Hotel, and I understand that they refreshing the hotel, but the bathroom in 2845 needs more attention. Tub is chipped in many places and tiles are popping off. The shelf over the sink slants so everything falls into the sink. Poor quality toiletries. The corners of the bathroom show dirt. Trattatoria Bianca was ok, not great.
Great location an easy to find. 2 mins from Penn Station. Within walking distance of Times Square and Grand Central. My room looking a. But tired but it was clean and comfy.
Perfect location for walking to Time Square, subway right there. Lots of shops in the are area and many choices to eat. Even Dunkin Donuts delivers your coffee and breakfast choices right to your room at no charge- they are about one block away.
The rooms are small like any hotel in the city. We were suppose to have 2 beds and a pullout. Our room was ready right away but we had one bed and a pullout so they sent us a twin rollaway - we had to make the beds and rearrange all the furniture to be able to put the rollaway out. And I don't understand why you give 2 bathtowels for 4 adults, and no pillows for the rollaway and pullout. It was a poor arrangement for what they call a 'suite'. Room had a fridge and coffee maker which was nice.
Location, staff are extremely helpful... Enjoyed the Tic Tock Diner very much !
The rooms are a disappointment for the price you pay... A little shabby looking and no minibar... I have stayed in hot
Nothing really to dislike
The rooms were very clean, staff very friendly but overall it was expensive with hidden charges... Hotel took an extra 50 euro a day from my bank acc for insurance purposes and I'm apparently due it back but have not received it yet! I'm back home in Ireland two days already....
Hidden charges, poor wifi, small rooms!
The location and kindness of the staff are the biggest assets.
Unpleasant smell on the floors and in the lifts.. Room & bathroom are very small, quite noisy as well.
Location price security at elevators
a little shabby very public lobby needs updating in public areas
-small rooms -Noisy heater/Airconditioner -Noisy rooms.
No Wi Fi in my room.
clean room, friendly and helpful staff, replenishing of bathroom products.
By the third day, our room key card didn't work.
