clean room good staff good location salt water pool
Had to pay for parking even in the off season when parking lot was empty.
Location was great, Winter room rate was very reasonable
That we had to pay for parking in the hotel parking lot, even as a guest. Guests should NOT have to pay for parking.
Staff upgraded my room to a Harbor view much to my delight and pleasure. Very helpful and friendly staff. Hotel quiet especially in the morning. Very comfortable bed.
Check in time of 4 p.m. - too late. Was told I would be called if earlier check in was available - did not get a call even though I was able to check in at 3.
Location of the hotel. Neat and presentable
Room was fantastic and location. My boyfriend and I have made a tradition to come every December.
I felt as though the concierge treated me differently because my boyfriend and I are a young couple. The older couple who was in front of us received a warmer welcome.
Can't beat the location! Beautiful view and nice staff!
The pillows were very firm as was the bed so sleeping was difficult. Several outlets didn't work so getting ready for a wedding was a bit challenging
The Views over Newport Harbor The position The Staff
Friendly staff and excellent location.
The hotel is always clean, the staff is friendly & helpful. Its in the perfect vicinity for any occasion. Walking distance to everything!
the beds, the location, the staff
When we got to the room the toilet seat was very loose, the tv wouldn't turn on, the sink drained very slowly. These things were corrected once we told the front desk. The indoor pool is in need of attention and the paint on the floor around it is peeling and sticks to your feet.
I forgot my toothbrush and one of the staff members tan across the street to purchase one! That's service!!
Upon arrival - front desk person - Nasia Bachman not only greeted me and welcomed me to the hotel, but Newport too. It was busy, but she had control and was alone -she gave out directions to a wedding party looking for a rehearsal dinner, checked people in, answered phone, and was a great representative of the hotel and Newport. I later had questions - went to her - they all got answered, great bar and restaurant, best location - direct on the harbor and walkable to all. I'll be back. Karl
location, convenience of restaurant, coffee in room
bathroom a little musty
We felt like we were on a boat but much more comfortable.... The room had a great view, great bedding....very clean....nice robes....Keurig coffee maker is an added plus...the staff were very pleasant...the parking is so convenient.....fabulous location.....great get a way!
The bathroom was tight and no place to put our personal toiletries.....the hair dryer was hanging in the clothes area which we did not see, so called the desk for one....the bathroom definitely needs some kind of cabinet
Close to the water and shopping.
I paid in cash but they charged my card for the room plus an extra $50 anyways. Still trying to get my money back.
location friendly staff
Location and parking was excellent.
Hotel old and outdate and needs work. Walls are thin and you can hear everything in the hall and other rooms like they are right there with you. Especially those with inside voices. Annoying.
All around "aim to please" atmosphere. clean and comfortable rooms. Given choice of Harbor view or view of lovely street where people stroll, enjoy stores and harbor side ambiance. Restaurant all view of Harbor. Great service. Thoroughly enjoyed traditional turkey dinner included in special package. Our off-season visit held to high standards. Outside structure undergoing renovations ongoing-they hope to complete by spring, we are told by very accommodating mgr., Matt., so don't let the outside put you off. Inside is A-1.
Nothing, really. This place holds up to what is promised in their web site!
The bottled water & the convenient location, a nice amount of towels
No concierge or any helpful or nice people at all, in fact, when checking in there was no one at the desk at all, but there was a line of people.... A maintenance man poked his head out and said, "sorry, but I don't know where they are." When the clerk finally came, he insisted over and over that we asked for a city view, even though we specifically chose the hotel for its harbor view! Surprise, there is an extra charge for parking and a rather large, unexpected tax! I do not like surprise fees. Upon entering the room, there was hair on the wall of the shower and hair around the drain! Disgusting.. There wasn't any extra TP, with only a few sheets on the roll! The pillows were thick, hard as a Rock, cement pillows that made it impossible to be comfortable or sleep, struggling all night with the right angle which caused neck pain the next day like whip lash. Finally in the early hours when I fell into a deep, exhausted sleep, the room next door's alarm blasted through the wall; on the other side, children were screaming. It was 6AM. Definitely not a relaxing, restful experience, but stressful...
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. (Thanks, Keith!) Very convenient having a decent dining room/bar in-house. In winter, fireside night cap, relaxing and fun. Summertime, lunch & drinks on patio can't be beat. From sheets to duvet, towels to shower curtain - pure white! Room and bath comfy and spotless. Heart of downtown right on the piers - location is perfect!
Location was great, close to many shops. Breakfast was good, dinner average.restaurant staff were very nice.
The front desk check in woman was not very welcoming and friendly. Since we booked room third party seemed to make it as difficult for us as she could.Walls paper thin, heard people next door.
Good location and value. I opted for this hotel instead of the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island purely because of the Hyatt's stupid hidden "resort fee" for wireless, gym, water bottles, parking, etc, which is $35/night in season ($20/night off season). Whereas this Newport Harbor Hotel was just $8 for parking, which was far more reasonable.
Although the room was clean overall, I found body hair in the tub. I just tried to wash it away but the drain was clogged up, so I got to shower in a pool with someone else's hair. When checking out, I told the manager and showed him photos. He was apologetic and knocked 15% off the room which was nice. Despite this experience, I'd still go back here though.
Everything at the hotel was excellent.
My room was the first room right at the lobby. I felt like I was sleeping in the lobby.
View of marina and bay from second floor window made us feel like we'd pulled up in a boat -- gorgeous sunset and many nearby shops and restaurants.
