Friendly staff Nice, clean rooms Very good location Good value for money
Best to avoid rooms facing the stree on the first floor, as the traffic might be a bit noisy, especially on the weekends slow elevator
Staff was helpful Good localization (close to subway)
Only paid internet (also, quite slow) Bedrooms look old/run down Shower is quite temperamental
Location is great and services are very good.
You have to wait too long for the lift.
The hotel staff were outstanding; very accommodating, knowledgeable, and responsive. The room was clean and comfortable. One of the best, Upper-Westside options available!
Close to nice little deli for breakfast. Old style and a little dark, but really clean.
Having to pay for wifi - $5 a day.
Location to parking garage, train stop, restaurants
Rude, unprofessional staff who mock at customers, bad location, far from major attractions and shops; dirty, rusty shared bathoroom facilitites,worn-out towels, terrible smell in a room - there was a very strong sweet artificial smell in my room (regardless my request to provide me a clean room with fresh air). This smell gave me a terrible head ache and sickness, could not sleep all night
Near to subway. Very convenient to move around.
The hotel elevator is slow.
The renovated, a/c , Jr. Suite room with tv and double beds were nice. While the location is a little too high up and scungy on Broadway and 95th St, the subway and #104 Broadway busline are convenient, and some good restaurants are nearby.
Be careful of the pleasant enough Reservation man "inside the Hotel Newton!" His promise to hold the Jr. Suite until Friday, at the price I saw all over the internet, was not kept: When I called Hotel Newton on Friday, the Front Desk said their Reservation man had an emergency and was not coming in, that no one else could help me abd they had no notes on me, and I should call back on Monday. On Monday when I called back Hotel Newton's Reservation man, he said our agreement was for me to call back Thursday. That was a lie, my notes show Friday, when I called back! In the meantime, over the weekend, I booked the room with Booking.com, and thought Hotel Newton would abide by their Reservation man's agreement to the difference in Booking.com's higher price for the Jr. Suite. The Reservation man was adament and would not reduce the price to our agreement! Be careful!
Location in Upper West side close to subway and a variety of reasonably priced bars and restaurants. The Manhatten Diner two doors down was great for breakfast Good clean hotel with comfortable bed and nice bathroom in room we eventually accepted
The initial room was was too small. Charles on reception did arrange for a bigger room which was ok. The air con was noisy.
very close to subway and regular buses. A great diner next door for breakfast etc.
Very little nighttime enterainment, bars etc, in the area , but a short bus ride to Amsterdam Avenue-82st delivers great bars and restaurants
WIFI connection slow, at cost and each one only per two pc/phone .
Good location, right next to the subway
Wifi doesn't reach into the room (and I paid $4.95 per day...), terribly noisy air conditioning (with constant fan that cannot be turned off), hardly space to put something in the bathroom, no real bedsheets (just a weird blanket), small TV, disinterested staff (the guy at the check-in didn't even look at me), window shutter broken (cannot be opened).
Perfect location on West Central Park, yet affordable. Great selection of mid range restaurants and ideal access to the subway. Staff were efficient and genuinely helpful.
On a hot day the window air conditioner worked a bit to keep up. The elevator could be slow, since only one car served the entire hotel.
Clean rooms, mostly friendly staff, good location near the subway and restaurant. Quieter neighborhood than downtown but with easy access to all the amenities. Within walking distance to central park and museums. Good value!
Beds were too hard for me.
Hotel staff fantastic, helpful, courteous. Rooms comfortable, spotlessly clean, would definately stay again.
Having air con on all time was nuisance, too noisy, only niggle, but hey I'm British, not used to it.
Really loved being on top of an express subway stop. The location is great for getting around town. Not a luxury place, but perfect for a decent place to stay.
Doorman always seemed more interested in reading his smart phone or looking at street traffic then actually helping hotel guests.
Location is perfect - across the 96th street, lines 1, 2, and 3. There are a lot of restaurants and grocery stores around. Our room (superior double, #311) was located on the opposite side of the Broadway Ave, so it was quite. The room was clean and in a very good condition. There is a big fridge and a microwave. There is a storage if you need to leave your luggage ($4 - small and $5 - big).
The bed was not comfortable and it squeaks whenever you move. We saw two big bugs in the bathroom.
Clean, spacious room with two comfortable queen beds, nice bathroom. Stayed there with an old friend -- we met in NYC from the different cities we each live in. We were just there overnight. I will definitely consider staying here again. Convenient to subways, quieter than staying downtown, loved next door diner.
Location in the upper west side, a subway station across the street. A quite spacious room with drawer, desk, fridge, microwave, closet, private bathroom. Many pillows available. Many restaurants nearby. Would stay again despite the cons.
No free Wi-Fi! Wi-Fi is available in the rooms but the price was high. Luckily there are Starbucks and McDonald's across the street which provide free Wi-Fi. There were also two computers available in the lobby for surfing, however the price is not from this decade: $1 for 5 mins. The staff weren't attentive, seemed tired, didn't apologize when our key cards suddenly stopped working, didn't ask how our stay was when checked out. The safety box was in the lobby, the box wasn't large enough even to fit in an ipad mini.
- Location was very close to a Subway station - Near a very nice Market (forgot what It was called) - Near Central Park
- Rooms were very small / cramped - Furniture and linen seem very old - Quite pricey for a bedroom with shared bathroom
Easy access to bars, dining, subway. Charles on front desk very helpful
AC very dated and noisy. Initial rooms very small and hot, but improved when moved. Poor wifi and charges for this and luggage storage
Staff is excellent, helpful, courteous and goes the extra mile to make you pr stay enjoyable. The location is perfect. It's in a comfortable neighborhood with restaurants, a diner, places to pick up small grocery items, pharmacy items too. It's near Central Park West, subways, buses and a walk to The Museum of Natural History ( ten blocks plus).
A sofabed or club chair bed would be nice to separate from a snorer. There is a tiny love seat in the room, I wish it folded out.
Metro 1-2-3 right outside along with nearby super markets, excellent Thai restuarant, liquor shop, dry cleaner etc. We had room with parlour which was large. Very dark and had to have air con on to combat stuffiness. Large bathroom, good wifi but you must pay. No safe in room but small one available downstairs
Room dark, hot and stuffy which required air con on the entire time. No outlook.
Staff always friendly and helpful Location convenient Underground close Central Park close Lots of good places to eat close by
