Good rooms, bit outdated but clean. Some rooms have shared bathrooms but that should not be a showstopper. Nice staff. Wifi could be complementary, especially since you get free wifi in ny on almost every street corner.

Quiet, comfortable, and clean. Hotel Newton was near the subway station, buses, taxis, Riverside Park, Central Park, and lovely restaurants. The room air conditioner was a life saver! Wasting at the Manhatten Diner was a definite PLUS! Thank you. I was asked about a preferred floor and did request a floor at the top of the building. I would have loved having a city view. I do understand there are many variables resulting in behind the scenes changes. Thank you for UPGRADING me to a Suite, when I had paid for a single, for only two nights.

The location is excellent -- near the 96th St. subway station. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area. It is a short walk to either Riverside Park or to Central Park. It is close to Columbia University. The staff are professional and provide good information. The rooms are clean, though the carpet in ours was a bit threadbare. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was fantastic. The cleaning staff were excellent. I would definitely stay here again. It was a tad noisy -- our room faced Broadway -- but not enough to be bothersome. The wifi is strangely administered. You have to get a new password daily and each password does only one device. I would prefer to see a simple rate option for the entire stay that would cover multiple devices.

Clean accommodation, friendly, helpful staff, close to subway and supermarkets. The fridge and microwave were handy. Tiny room with small window overlooking dark alley so we could not see daylight. The room was hot even though it was cold outside, would not like to be there in summer. We had to keep our clothes off while we were inside the room. The aircon would blow in your face while in bed if you turned it on. The bed was hard and uncomfortable giving us both backache. We could not open the cupboard properly because it was obstructed by the bed. If we opened the window there was noise from the hotel air conditioner. We had room 201 and would not stay in that room again.

The bed was very comfortable, good pillows. Even though the bathroom was spotless, and stayed that way, I didnt like the ides of sharing. It would have been nice to have a bathroom in our room. It all worked out and there was no conflict.

Location and the cleanliness. I specifically asked for a quiet room but was given a room which opened to the street.

Location to restaurants, Central Park and the subway could not have been better. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. It was our choice to opt for a shared bathroom which saved money and was mostly ok but probably wouldn't do it again.

I love the Upper West Side, which is where the Newton is. Also nice to be right across from a Starbucks and next to a Tasty-DeLite -- the definitive NYC food. Nasty decor, view of an airshaft between buildings, pathetic towels, add-on price for wireless (room was already over-priced for quality). Also didn't like being told repeatedly by desk staff that we were getting a "free upgrade to a suite" when in reality they were giving us a room designed for disability access, which was dingy and dark and had no bathtub -- just a roll-in shower that we didn't need. The "suite" meant the room had a microscopic foyer that provided no privacy from the bedroom -- just a few feet of turn-around space.

The location was superb as the subway for 3 lines was just a few steps outside and had the choice of walking a couple more blocks for another two lines. Also hotel close to an excellent supermarket and some decent eateries

Steps away from 96th street subway on 1, 2, and 3 line. Can get anywhere in nyc in minutes. Friendly staff. Rooms were clean, hotel was very quiet Charged for internet use - - per device! Very annoying when we were paying almost $300 per night. Room decor was very spartan - looked very low-budget.

Although a small hotel, it was well run and all the essentials were in place or nearby We unfortunately had a room facing Broadway on a weekend when the Subway north was out of service and so a steady stream of buses were outside out window day and night with their engines running; plus sometimes subway workers shouting out which bus for people to take.

Lovely, helpful staff, easy to find, good location for the subway. Good value considering the city location. Good having fridge & microwave in the room. Plenty of hanging space in cupboard. Good free safe deposit box. Fridge in the room did keep me awake, shared bathroom was at times annoying, (when in use, I have an en-suite at home) No drawers just the cupboard. Very hot in the room (personal opinion)

Location. Room was very warm, difficult to cool down. You had to pay for wifi. The hotel charged my credit card twice - even tho one charge fell off, they held up my money for a few days. I had to call and have the charge removed. Small room and bathroom.

Very good value, small but difficult to find other options for a family of four with kids at this price and in such a good location. Extremely convenient to subway and local eateries. Very friendly staff.
