Hotel was very clean and room was very quiet.
My room was on the 9th floor. Hotel serviced by 1 elevator. Had to wait about 5 minutes for it during busy hours.
VERY CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND AFFORDABLE.
A LITTLE TIGHT FOR 2 PEOPLE BUT OK.
Room smaller than our dog's kennel. Rude and unhelpful staff.
The location and access to public transportation. The cost compared to other NYC hotels. The general coziness of the rooms.
The room was over heated and there was no way for us to control the heat. There was no hot water in the evenings. When we mentioned this to hotel staff, she said "Well, we have a large group staying at the hotel."
Close to subway and easy to get to main tourist areas.
No restaurant though a diner is just outside.
location is great. price quoted was very good, however, they billed me $75 more than the quoted price and they tried to give me an inferior room with a shared bath down the hall, instead of the superior room I had booked.
They tried the old bait and switch trick, where they book you for one room and give you an inferior room and at a greater price then what you agreed to. Also there internet connections were very poor, and they charge a lot for cell phone connections.
Hotel Newton is in a great spot, about 100 feet from the subway, surrounded by restaurants and NYC life. Will definitely be back.
comforter smelled like assorted human excrements, bet wasn't as comfortable as a $200 room should be, no light through windows made the morning very confusing (blocked by highrises).
The location, close to the metro station is very good. Moreover We could drink fine Italian espresso coffee at a nearby cafe Filicori.
We had a suite at the 2° floor, comfortable but dark and a bit 'sad. The cost of the use of the computer and printer is a bit 'too expensive.
First appearances are everything and walking into the hotel reception was a real delight, clean, tidy bright and welcoming. The reception staff were warm and friendly and made booking an easy process, However
The noise from a cooling fan deep down at the first floor, kept us awake most of the night- did complain, but as only staying two night didn't think it needed moving to a different room. Had I had access to internet (my hardware issue) I would have checked that them room I thought I'd booked was in-fact the room I was given and not a smaller allocation. Having returned home and looked on the web site I'm convinced that I was fobbed off. :-(
We had a great stay at Hotel Newton in mid August. The beds were big and comfortable, room clean and kids pleased with BBC America on the TV so could watch Dr Who! Great location near the subway on the 1,2,3,line so no problems getting anywhere. Air conditioning noisy but the alternative was having the window open - also pretty noisy, however we slept fine due to jet lag/sight seeing exhaustion! Manhattan Diner next door great for breakfast, also ice cream shop next door too!
No free wifi !! Pretty shocking in this day and age.
Location was great!
That when I checked in I was told the key for the bathroom was in the night table. We had to share a bathroom with at least three other rooms. EEEWWWW! Did not see any mention of that when booking. Don't know if it was the fault of the Hotel or Booking.com
Smelly room and very cold and aloof staff
Big bathroom, comfortable beds, quite room 7th floor, separate sitting area, ice bucket
Foam cups - prefer some real cups No tea bags or cutlery or crockery
The bed was very comfortable
Not much room yo put my luggage
Location Relatively good size room for NYC Clean
Wi-Fi is not free
Proximity to subway and the front desk service.
hotel location and Manhattan Diner/next door for excellent breakfasts
Had no idea what the weather was doing although we were on 4th floor. Window overlooked 3 walls and made room appear dingy. Could not see the sky. Most rooms were built around this concrete tunnel. We booked an upgraded room and on check in were told we have been upgraded to a junior suite. Although it was spacious the window with no view of sky was an issue for us.
Friendly staff Nice, clean rooms Very good location Good value for money
Best to avoid rooms facing the stree on the first floor, as the traffic might be a bit noisy, especially on the weekends slow elevator
Staff was helpful Good localization (close to subway)
Only paid internet (also, quite slow) Bedrooms look old/run down Shower is quite temperamental
Location is great and services are very good.
You have to wait too long for the lift.
The hotel staff were outstanding; very accommodating, knowledgeable, and responsive. The room was clean and comfortable. One of the best, Upper-Westside options available!
Close to nice little deli for breakfast. Old style and a little dark, but really clean.
Having to pay for wifi - $5 a day.
Location to parking garage, train stop, restaurants
Rude, unprofessional staff who mock at customers, bad location, far from major attractions and shops; dirty, rusty shared bathoroom facilitites,worn-out towels, terrible smell in a room - there was a very strong sweet artificial smell in my room (regardless my request to provide me a clean room with fresh air). This smell gave me a terrible head ache and sickness, could not sleep all night
Near to subway. Very convenient to move around.
The hotel elevator is slow.
