Clean quiet room. Nice new bathroom in room. Decent closet. Able to open windows as room was quite warm. Frig and microwave.
Bed was too hard for my taste.
My first time in New York and I was very satisfied with the Hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and hope to come back again.
Close to 96th street subway. Helpful staff.
The room is crammed, without a desk or chair. You cannot control the heating so depending on the management you either freeze or bake in your room. WiFi is paid but service is extremely poor.
The location is fantastic! Literally less than a minute to subway and the hotel itself is on Broadway. Very clean. Stuff is very polite and helpful.
Not sure if all rooms face backyard but if you get one the view may slightly disappoint you, however this is minor taken into consideration the location of the hotel.
Location, close to subway on line 1, 2 & 3. Good walk downtown along Broadway. Plenty of restaurants and shops around. Hotel was great and the room we had was a good size and quite.
Nothing can't wait to go back.
They put us on the 6th floor in the back. This reduced the noise from outside a lot! The bathroom was very clean. Staff was helpful. The diner nearby had good food at fairly reasonable prices.
The room was smaller than the last one we stayed in here about 2 years ago. The bed was OK but seemed small for a queen. The bathroom was small also, and only had one towel rack. There was no way to shut off the heat, so we had to use the AC a lot - in the cold weather!
Clean and well-maintained. Room had a fridge, small microwave and coffee maker.
The room was very warm for me. The only way to cool it down was to turn on the AC and it was very noisy. Sleep suffered.
Location, beds. Frig on room. D Sabbath accommodations
Charge for wifi and computers in lobby
Love the upper west side, hotel is close to good restaurants, Riverside park, transport. Decent hotel, clean, reasonable value for a NY hotel.
Wifi is not free, hotel is a bit beat up. Some rooms are not the biggest.
room was too small
quiet room convenient to subway
-Urine smell from hall bath on 4th floor -had to call front desk to get second internet code after first one did not work.
Staff were friendly and very helpful . Location was excellent - 1 min walk to 96th street station . Short walk to Central Park . Excellent Diner next door - Manhattan Diner
The WIFI was awful , I could not download much of my mail , I expect when I pay per day charge for WIFI to be able to use the service . The hotel has only one very small lift and you spend too much time hanging around waiting for lift to arrive .
Hotel was very clean and room was very quiet.
My room was on the 9th floor. Hotel serviced by 1 elevator. Had to wait about 5 minutes for it during busy hours.
Great hotel only steps away from the 96th street subway station. We stayed here for Columbia U's homecoming weekend and it was only 2 stops straight up Broadway to the Columbia stop. Parking garage was only half block away and easy to use. Very clean, pretty room with a nice bathroom & good shower & water pressure. The inroom fridge was a bonus. Every staffer we dealt with was friendly & super helpful! Convenient to several decent restaurants. We particularly liked Acqua, an Italian restaurant just around the corner. Excellent Veal Scallopine! The manhattan Diner next door to the hotel was great for breakfast
I did not like the $4.95 fee for wifi for such a pricey room. It should be included. Otherwise we were pleased with everything!
VERY CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND AFFORDABLE.
A LITTLE TIGHT FOR 2 PEOPLE BUT OK.
Room smaller than our dog's kennel. Rude and unhelpful staff.
The location and access to public transportation. The cost compared to other NYC hotels. The general coziness of the rooms.
The room was over heated and there was no way for us to control the heat. There was no hot water in the evenings. When we mentioned this to hotel staff, she said "Well, we have a large group staying at the hotel."
Close to subway and easy to get to main tourist areas.
No restaurant though a diner is just outside.
location is great. price quoted was very good, however, they billed me $75 more than the quoted price and they tried to give me an inferior room with a shared bath down the hall, instead of the superior room I had booked.
They tried the old bait and switch trick, where they book you for one room and give you an inferior room and at a greater price then what you agreed to. Also there internet connections were very poor, and they charge a lot for cell phone connections.
Hotel Newton is in a great spot, about 100 feet from the subway, surrounded by restaurants and NYC life. Will definitely be back.
comforter smelled like assorted human excrements, bet wasn't as comfortable as a $200 room should be, no light through windows made the morning very confusing (blocked by highrises).
The location, close to the metro station is very good. Moreover We could drink fine Italian espresso coffee at a nearby cafe Filicori.
We had a suite at the 2° floor, comfortable but dark and a bit 'sad. The cost of the use of the computer and printer is a bit 'too expensive.
First appearances are everything and walking into the hotel reception was a real delight, clean, tidy bright and welcoming. The reception staff were warm and friendly and made booking an easy process, However
The noise from a cooling fan deep down at the first floor, kept us awake most of the night- did complain, but as only staying two night didn't think it needed moving to a different room. Had I had access to internet (my hardware issue) I would have checked that them room I thought I'd booked was in-fact the room I was given and not a smaller allocation. Having returned home and looked on the web site I'm convinced that I was fobbed off. :-(
We had a great stay at Hotel Newton in mid August. The beds were big and comfortable, room clean and kids pleased with BBC America on the TV so could watch Dr Who! Great location near the subway on the 1,2,3,line so no problems getting anywhere. Air conditioning noisy but the alternative was having the window open - also pretty noisy, however we slept fine due to jet lag/sight seeing exhaustion! Manhattan Diner next door great for breakfast, also ice cream shop next door too!
No free wifi !! Pretty shocking in this day and age.
Location was great!
That when I checked in I was told the key for the bathroom was in the night table. We had to share a bathroom with at least three other rooms. EEEWWWW! Did not see any mention of that when booking. Don't know if it was the fault of the Hotel or Booking.com
Smelly room and very cold and aloof staff
