The location was perfect, and the facility was cozy and clean. Faculties were super kind except the African American lady at the cafe. She was not kind at all, and even rude.
The accomodation was great, but the shower suddenly broke down, so I could not take a shower one night.
The hotel is modern with friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is in a fantastic location close to everything you need to have an amazing NYC getaway.
The housekeepers have to pay more attention to lesser noticed areas. Under the bed was pretty dirty.
We really liked it here for the 3 nights! -nice compfortable beds -fancy and clean rooms -friedly stuff/ good service -free welcome drinks :) -free spa (hot tups and chill out area)
minor cons: -the ventilation system was a little loud
This is a motel, where the rooms open directly to the outdoors. The doors don't seal at all, and the thermostats are enigmatically located right next to them; the upshot is that the 1960s heater unit blasts nonstop. You'll find that covers some of the thumping bass from the nightclub on the ground floor, at least. If you're not from NYC and you're wondering what happened to the brusque rudeness residents are supposedly famous for, you'll find it alive and well with the breakfast staff in the restaurant here. Experience that New York sullen indifference you've only seen in the movies!
Trade show location to the Javitz Center was excellent. Nice and friendly staff. Good resturant.
Clean! Nice Spa! Small gym but not more than 2 people in it besides me! Good food! Good location!
The heater/AC was really loud.
Waiter Logan was very kind. Highly enjoyed space and concept. Exceptionally artistic idea for a hotel!
I wonder why the owners didn't seal off the communal hall areas as it makes for cold rooms with high energy bills. Obviously doesn't help that we stayed in coldest period over past decade! For the bed, try adding a top layer of memory foam which could highly increase overall comfort for clients!
they got great location and comfortable bed, staff here are nice and awesome sauna! I would choose here again when I come to visit NYC next time
Some of the rooms are noisy and the bed is no comfortable
For a reason they couldn't charge my debit card and they didn't accept cash. My card was everywhere else acdepted!
SPA facilities really good
Air conditioning a bit noisy
Due to that I usually travel alone, it is better to my budget if I stay in a "dorm room" in a hostel. However, most of the hostels are quite noisy and have very little privacy. The Out NYC's dorm room, though slightly more expensive than a usual NYC hostel (in peak season, it may cost up to $100 per night per bed), does offer much better facilities and even more privacy. The bunker beds are big and comfy (You can actually fit two people in one bed, though I don't think it is allowed). There are also curtains you can draw and keep your "roommates" from view. There are 4 beds per room (two upper bunk and two lower bunk). Every room has its own shower, toilet, and sink (all three are separate, so they can all be used at the same time). There are also digital lockers, with which we only need to set up a four-digit "code" and don't need to bring along our own pad lock. The best thing is, as a guest in the dorm room, we can still use their spa facilities, including gym, dry sauna, steam room, and hot tubs. It is a great way to meet other guests. It is on 42nd Street, about two and half long blocks from Port Authority Bus terminal, and 3 blocks from Times Square. Thus, I would say its location is also very good. About one and half blocks away, along 9th Avenue, there are many good restaurants (with cuisines from all corners of the world) and bars. Overall this is a boutique hotel. However, if you are on tight(er) budget, you can also stay at its dorm room and try what is called "flashpacking."
There is a large nightclub in the same building, so on some nights it is quite noisy. In addition, I think most dorm rooms are at the back of ground floor and with windows facing 41st Street. Sometimes it may be noisy outside.
I loved the experience of staying at The Out. I was supposed to spend only 3 days, but I ended up spending 6 and would have spent more time. There is this nice atmosphere among the guests, mainly in the recreatinonal area; being able to rest in a hot tub while it snows is priceless! The fact of staying in a shared bedroom was not so problematic and I will very much possibly stay at The Out again in my next trip to NYC.
I had requested a robe to go to the spa area and it was not delivered to me at any time. This happened twice, and I gave it up. There is also the fact that there is not any kind of "instructions" or information about the hotel, like written somewhere as reference - only the information given at the moment one arrives is not enough, because we are usually too tired and cannot really absorb what is told by the reception desk.
Everything! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was beautifully decorated. I'll be going back!
No heating in bathroom
Staff, location and hotel was great.
Extended check out but received a call that we passed check out.
overflowing toilet. Everything on the floor got wet. The staff were cleaning it till 1:30am in my room. They didn't clean it properly+ it overflowed again, i told the front desk about it. They still didn't take care of it well. I slipped. It was a horrible night and a morning.
I loved the bathroom, very nicely designed and the hotel was clean. Visually, it was beautiful ! KTCHN, the restaurant at the hotel had amazing food and great service !
the hotel is designed in a modern way which is quite a pleasure for view.
the alley on third floor has no window to stop the cold wind from getting in, which is hard to keep room warm enough.
The decor.. the location was great.staff very nice.gym great.cleanliness was excellent.room service very good.rooms gorgeous.
Open court yard 2nd floor.was too cold.doors should have been shut
Location. Staff is terrible.
Unauthorized charges to credit card. Called 3 times to have reversed and still not resolved. I do not recommend this place as it seems the staff is quick to give an answer but not a clue as to creating any resolution for an issue. Still waiting for a $600 refund.
An evening manager (Joe) was wonderful. He was very professional, caring and accomodating.
The hotel is a pretentious"wannabe a Pines Resort" with tacky, cheap, beatdown and filthy appointments. Room #208 was filthy. Was upgraded to #S351(A "Junior Suite") in their opinion. Encountered the same problem. Filthy bedding, furniture, rug etc... I had to whip out a bottle of alcohol and sterilize everything I was going to touch. At nearing 9PM of my check-in day I couldn't stay a moment more. I informed the manager that I was leaving. This is a 1 Star hotel presenting itself as 4 Star. Gay clientele, neon lights, cabanas and a hot tub does not a 4 Star Hotel make. I AM a Fire Island resident of nearing 25 years, who has done the gay circuit. I can honestly say The Out Hotel is NOT a "Gay Destination"! Nor its self proclaimed Kitchn Restaurant, with its unimpressive and uninspiring menu. Hint...Do NOT order room service. I saw 2 guest room's meals coming being delivered through the corridors and I am sure the elevators completely uncovered. Room service dining (if you call chicken fingers "dining") comes with a cover children! OUT Hotel, try a little integrity, common sense, hygiene and business acumen. A little hint...The 2nd floor guests may not want to walk the frigid corridors, enclose your spa area. With temperatures in the very low 30's I did NOT appreciate having to be fully clothed, coated and otherwise bundled just to go to the lobby. It is the crux of winter people!!!
I spent a wonderful time at The Out NYC. The hotel is really good, full of amenities, and the Staff went out of their way to help me. Definitely I will come back to the hotel and tell friends to stay there. I hope you have a great time just as I had.
We were staying for business and appreciated the helpful staff. They received packages we were expecting days before hand and helped us acquire transportation for several pieces of luggage to a tradeshow.
We stayed and winter and found it odd that the hallway to our room was outside. Also, the sound of the elevator kept us up at night.
