Friendly, attentive, informed and accommodating staff. Perfect central location, well-priced for the Nob Hill neighborhood. Cozy and homey, beautiful decorated. Will go back!!
The Inn has charm and feels like a home. It is in an excellent area. Staff are helpful.
A house of that age is not likely to be well sound-proofed but this is an Inn and not a corporate hotel so a fair pay-off.
Cleanliness of room and super friendly and helpful staff.
Elevator was hard to handle with more than one piece of luggage.
good location without the buzz from the main street
no airconditiong in summer?
Lovely old building Elegant public areas Nice touches like afternoon tea with biscuits and sherry Breakfast was extra but good value
Our room had a lot of traffic noise Lots of rules for guests-obviously rules are required but I thought they were a little overdone
All smiling, helpful staff. Lovely property. Good location.
Exceeded expectations by far - clean and large room, well-maintained and charming interior - and the location was great. Felt safe and comfortable, spent one night. Special compliments to the exceptionally friendly and effective staff.
Pine street noise may be somewhat disturbing at night (uphill motor traffic) - ear plugs may come in handy.
Close to everything. Spacious room. Felt safe with the front doors being locked after 11pm and 24 hour staff onsite.
Bed was uncomfortable and while great windows, there was traffic noise early in the morning.
Location, staff, period detail
A little noisy, old mattress, a little dusty
Uber helpful staff. Convenient location to everything in a quiet area.
Even though the old elevator style was hard to manuever, I loved it. I felt like I was in the Titantic. Staff were great, clean rooms.
Rooms were slightly small.
Very helpful & friendly staff, especially the lady on the night shift who went above & beyond for me. My room was huge, in fact it was a suite because that's all they had left when I booked it. Very clean & spacious. Loved the views & the complimentary breakfast. It's also right down the hill (SF's steepest hill!) from the Nob Ill Masonic Centre. Would definitely stay there again.
Some of the windows in my room wouldn't properly lock. Also being a historic building, the elevator was rather outdated & elevator doors were heavy but nothing I couldn't manage, but I guess that's part of the charm of this victorian hotel! It wouldn't be victorian with a modern elevator, now would it! :) Disabled travellers should know, the hotel is not accessible for those in wheelchairs, and visually impaired travellers should know the elevator has no lighting other than what comes through its windows, but I managed after a very good "crash course" from the staff. :)
Friendly welcome, beautiful room, great location only 5-7 min walk (downhill) to Union Square. 15 min walk to Fisherman's Wharf or take Tram just down the street.
No parking available on street. Had to park in parking garage around the corner, cost around $40 / day.
Friendliness of the staff.
Did not have an iron in my room. I am sure I could have asked for one though.
The price of the room was $175.00 per night. The hotel down the street on California/ Taylor is over $400.00 per night. The initials of the hotel is hh. I had stayed at the hotel last year. This hotel actually had a better room. The room itself had a vintage feel and was very cozy.
I wish it had a business center but the hotel staff was able to print my documents.
Very nice/elegant building locates on Pine street. the staff is super friendly, which is warm like living in an American famliy. free afternoon tea in the lobby. San Fransisco is expensive anyway, so the price here is acceptable.
Location. Actually the location is not far from city center. but if you don't have a car, you need to walk at least 3-4 blocks to catch a bus, whereever you will go.
Great location, very helpful staff, nice room
Our room was a bit warm due to lack of A/C but otherwise fine.
Travelling for work and needed a place to stay for one night. Staff were excellent. Great facilities. I really enjoyed all the old world charm, and that the facility has been nicely maintained. Bathroom was small (but nicely updated). Clean and well maintained throughout. Great neighborhood, too. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Biggest problem for me was parking. There isn't parking at the inn. Nearest parking is in a garage two blocks away. If I didn't have a rental car or hadn't had to travel with extra bags for work, this would not have been an issue.
This charming little hotel was quite an unexpected find! The staff was very nice and helpful. It really had all the elegance of a big hotel. And it was quiet! Its location was perfect-walking distance to shopping and just a block off the cable car route. I highly recommend!
There wasnt anything I didn't like about the Nob Hill Inn.
Is a small hotel that looks like an ancient San Franciscan house, really nice for a long weekend experience.
Breakfast is very simple and you should probably look elsewhere for a better meal. The elevator is a bit small with a heavy door and the carpet has a little smell (specially on the ground floor).
If it is fits to your budget avoid economy double room. 17 m2 room size only due to big bathroom. The room itself ca 10 m2. With all around furniture, could not open 2 luggage on the floor.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast basic but adequate to start day. Location excellent, small shops on almost every corner, walking distance to good Irish pub (The Last Drop).
The long walk up the hill, but it was our choice to stay near the top close to The Cathedral.
We really enjoyed our 3 nights here. This is a small, personal, characterful hotel - a world away from some of the huge chain hotels you get in American Cities. As a result, the rooms are all different - ours was spacious and comfortable, with a claw-foot bath-tub and lovely antique furniture. Be prepared to walk up and down the stairs if you don't want to wait for the ancient elevator - but that's all part of the fun. And if you are in San Francisco, you'll need to get used to walking up hills anyway! The staff were lovely, especially our breakfast lady! The hotel is also really well located - 5 minutes walk from Union Square, 30 seconds walk (uphill) to the cathedral, and with trams on the doorstep.
Fantastic location - a short walk to Business district or Fisherman's Wharf. Quaint and twee property - enjoy Sherry or Tea at 4:00PM
Street traffic noise is unbearable, no air conditioning and it was hot hot hot when we were there so needed to leave windows open at night or suffocate. There is a litany of rules to observe, even to a point of "please be careful when closing blinds, do not yank"...or similar. One of the desk staff was bossy and condescending and the table waiter reminded me of Manuel. Bed was rock hard and pillows were inadequate. Breakfast was terrible (but cheap)
Geographically well located and easy access to all amenities although the hills in San Francisco can be very challenging but that is to be expected!
Traffic noise was a serious issue and lack of air conditioning. In the four nights we stopped we never slept a full night, something to take into consideration.
