clean, quiet room. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bed with clean linens, daily housekeeping.
Reception was friendly and the outside of the property appeared as recently painted and neat looking! Room appeared to be recently redecorated! I will return on my next visit to Portland!
Enjoyed the suite.
Although we had a suite with a kitchen, there were no pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, plates or bowls.
Loved everything about our stay here. Perfect for the late airport pick up I had to do. Warm and cozy on the coldest night of the year. We'll be back for sure.
Only negative was road noise from Sandy Blvd. Not anything major.
This was my 2nd stay at the Nordic. I like this place. yah there is a train track across the way, but if you run the fan in the room at night, you don't hear it. I am sure I will be back, as my boyfriend is in the hospital in Portland currently. The staff even let me check into my room a little earlier than normal check in time, thank you!!!
LOL! I always wonder about those poor girls in that coffee booth across from the motel - they serve coffee in bikinis! Gotta be damn cold to do that in the winter time. Other than that, its all good here!
It is a roadside motel so the room was on the small side, but it was very clean. Close to the airport, and easy enough to get downtown. Great value--definitely can't imagine finding anything nicer for the price.
Dirty Sheets Loud neighbors Room smelled like marijuana smoke When I spoke to the management about my concerns, they told me I was not correct, and they refused to do anything about my god awful stay. They told me that they personally wash the sheets, so there was no way they were dirty, but they were covered in grease stains. That there was no smoking in the rooms, but it clearly smelled of marijuana smoke, and told me that it was a hotel, neighbors are allowed to be loud at all hours of the night. -Very Upset Customer
Easy to find, this motel was clean and very well kept. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Offered a good option well outside Portland proper and close to the main Freeway. Excellent value for money, this was very reasonably priced for the room quality (off-season)
Walls between rooms were thin and could clearly here the neighbours crashing around
The room was very very clean and the whole place recently renovated. Location was convenient and quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Wifi was a bit slow. We ended up getting our own disposable cups and plates as the insuite kitchen didnt have any, but that was fine as we mostly ate out.
Slow wifi and the tv in the bedroom had problems with the sound.
I came to Portland to visit my boyfriend in the hospital and stayed here. It was SO quiet and clean and really nice rooms. I grabbed one of their business cards as I plan on staying w/ them again when I go back up to see my boyfriend.
Its near a train track, and the train kind of freaked me out at first, but after that, I didnt hear it.
Location was easy. Bed was ok pretty comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Beside train track. Bit noisy. Could here if a neighbour had used the toilet.
Really comfy beds with great pillows and the staff were really friendly. My husband and I were traveling from Canada so the wifi was essential to save phone fees. There was enough room for our road bikes and great access to bike lanes from the motel. It was very clean and we very much enjoyed our stay!
The train in the area was loud the first night, but didn't bother us the other two nights.
Very friendly staff Older immaculately kept grounds and rooms.
Full kitchen, great...except no utensils, dinnerware, or cooking pans? Across the street from a noisy train route.
The owner was very polite and accommodating and the room very clean. Free wifi was great!
There was a strong plastic/paint smell in the room and the blankets looked terribly dated.
Everything was clean and appeared to be newly remodeled. The management was very nice.
We had the one bedroom, two queen room with a full kitchen. Good size space, privacy for two adult sleepers all very nice to have and a rare good find for a motel type lodging. It was just what we wished to have. All staff were absolutely accommodating and thoughtful as well. Clean, clean clean--awesome! Great experience over all.
Location: busy street, close to train as well as the airport. Outside noise a minus. However structure of the room was tight and could not have done better at muffling the noisy outside environment.
Kitchen 2 bedrooms Beds and pillows
No cooking utensils
A small, completely reconditioned facility near the airport. Very clean, with great attention to detail and service. Family-owned and operated by friendly people. Great value - a rare gem in any market.
I had my doubts because we dont normally stay in motels and I was expecting super 8 quality but we were pleasantly surprised how nice and very updated the room was! It smelled so nice and clean, not like chemical cleaners or air fresheners. The carpet was soft and plush and we could tell it was well vacuumed. Nothing dingy about it. I was wishing it was the place we stayed for our entire trip but it was only one night before we left to fly back. Convenient drive to anything - gas stations, restaurants, airport, car rental, and easy route to the waterfalls east of Portland. Take the historic highway to see the falls it is so worth it.
You are right on a highway that a train runs parallel with, and the train does run. However, the room seems to be well soundproofed when you close the door. I did an experiment when the train was going by and opened and shut the door and you could not even hear the traffic, it was almost soothing even and we were in the second room from the street. The only complaint came from my husband because the guy next door was up all night and it kept him up. You can hear voices through the walls but we brought our sound machine for sleeping and they have the most wonderful thing of all - an air conditioner/heater/fan that will lull you to sleep and drown out the sound plus q bathroom fan you can leave on. No coffee in room and they start it at 7am but we had to leave earlier. And no breakfast :( so bring your own microwaveable food and stick it in the mini fridge. No freezer though.
excellent customer service clean and tidy place
very strong new carpet smell in some rooms kitchen without any tools provided no shops nearby, no breakfast on site
I needed to obtain lodging for the weekend of 9/5, 6/14 and consistently found Nordic Motel rated in the 90 right next to high dollar four star hotels and motels in the Portland area. I made my reservation and upon arrival I was delighted to see the parking lot full—which immediately validated my choice in selecting Nordic. I meet and spoke with the proprietors and found them to both be charming, industrious and committed to their goal of operating the finest motel in Portland. The buildings both inside and out were immaculate, clean, and fresh. They were abundantly furnished with first rate amenities. Nice well groomed grounds, well lit, amble parking. I most definitely will rebook when I next need lodging in Portland.
In all honesty there was nothing I didn't like. This is the best kept secret in Portland, and I hope for my sake it stays that way. But these fine people are too good not to go unnoticed for long.
No good breakfast facilities or cafes around
Nice staff, clean nice rooms, easy onto to wifi.
Lack of access to the office, no handles or assistive access to bathroom. No tea, or breakfast, no laundry, no pool.
Excellent staff , clean rooms . We liked it so much we stayed there on our way home and again on another trip.
Wifi was spotty in our room but no big deal it worked fine in the nice patio area outside the room
