layout of the inn layout of the room Great Continental Breakfast
few power outlet wifi not so good
The Normandy Inn is ideally located on Ocean Avenue, one block from all the stores. The Inn is comfortable and a good value in a town where most things are over priced.
They don't have enough parking for all of their guests and parking in Carmel is problematic.
The staff was very helpful and solicitous of what we were looking for in our stay and recommending local restaurants.
The Normandy is in a really nice location, short walk to a beautiful beech and close to many restaurants. Rooms are clean and comfortable
The comfort of our room and bed. The furnishings. The ambiance of the inn and its setting.
The low height of the dressing table and sink in the bathroom.
It was a comfortable stay. Parking is first come, first serve unless you have a suite. The room was beautifully decorated and the bathroom was upgraded and clean. The continental breakfast had a variety of morning treats that can fit anyone's taste. Very nice.
Unfortunately, our room did not have AC. You can always depend on fresh air, but there wasn't a breeze. Still it wasn't a bad stay.
The hotel itself is very nice, the reception area has free tea and coffee and I believe I saw some whiskey there for the taking although can't confirm this as I didn't have any. Carmel is a wonderful place, very quaint and a real find on the western coast of CA. The rooms themselves could do with a bit of modernising but they are clean and perfectly adequate for our stay. The walls which have been mentioned before on other reviews are very thin! We were woken up at 6.30 one morning by the TV from the neighboring room. We could hear snoring the next night whilst trying to get off to sleep, luckily we were in an end room so was only coming from one side. The breakfast room is very nice, cereal and pastries are available as well as juice and hot drinks. People have complained about the paper plates etc but I don't have an issue with this. It makes the breakfast low maintenance for the staff which is fine. If you want china plates then there are plenty of options in and around Carmel for you to choose. There is a nice sitting area next to reception if you want to relax and use the wifi as wifi in the rooms is next to useless (if you can get onto the network at all). The location is great, 30 seconds walk and you are in the shopping area. A few minutes walk the other way is the beach, a lovely beach with brilliant views. No matter where you stay in Carmel you have to go to the Dametra Café, the food is out of this world and the service is probably the best I have every experienced in any restaurant across the world (and I’ve been to a few in my time!)
Thin walls and poor wifi signal. This isn't really a problem as the rooms are quite spread out so it would be difficult to get wifi to all of them.
The location and staff were wonderful, breakfast was nice and all in all I would visit again.
Noise in the room from our neighboring room was distracting ,walls are pretty thin and made it tough to sleep.
Great spot for ones who want to be close to beach and shops.
WiFi service was literally unavailable all the time (poor reception and probably abused by unauthorized people since the network was wide open)
Location, nice area. Waöking distance to Beach, shops, restaurants
Breakfast area- too small No seating available
always an issue: last time the heat, this time the TV failed to work. Despite repeated times at the Normandy, we still get the most ordinary rooms, our loyalty never being rewarded. we're moving on...
I liked the cleanliness above all! Cute and quaint!
It was over 90 degrees when we were there, unusually warm all day and night. Air conditioner would be nice, but in Carmel that's hard to find.
I had stayed at the Normandy Inn several times over the past 30 years. I had always stayed there during the week and during the winter. I had a very pleasent stay during those visits. Great location.
Parking was a major issue. There was not enough quest parking and their website indicated that there was parking available. The room was warm and there was no ceiling fan to help with that issue. The TV screen color was washed out. The breakfast was disappointing.
Poor selection of breakfast items, especially fruit, but paper plates and plastic cutlery, and nowhere to eat except take one's tray to another room, is definitely very poor value. Also had to park several streets away.
The aesthetic of the entire place was absolutely charming. The location couldn't be better. The room was... Nice. That's it, nothing special.
The room could have been more comfortable. It was fine; it's just the details were missing.
The quaint charm of the property and ease of checking in and checking out. Rooms were nice and spacious.
For the price you can't beat the Normandy Inn. Excellent location, charming, clean, very friendly staff.
No wifi in room, room smelled of mould, very low ceiling in the shower.
Great location and very clean B&B
Overrated for an B&B. The staff wasn´t flexible, we were a group of 4 rooms and the only chield little girl 5 years had to sleep in the bed with their parents because they don´t have extra bed service or even a matress would fit just fine. Definetly I would try another place next time in Carmel.
Close to beach
Pillows were awful. Room hot. Walls very thin- person next door snored loudly and I was kept awake three hours- and our son heard it two rooms away! Breakfast was in a tiny room, no atmosphere and the hot water was not hot.
Good location and very clean.
Rooms are small, you can hear through the walls, and to get the wifi to work I had to go to the lobby. We were on the first floor and could hear the people above us walking and talking.
Perfect location! Clean and nice breakfast!
Great location near beach and pleasant breakfast.
Location is excellent.
Parking was difficult. Rooms were too small. No fridge in room. BREAKFAST was very minimal selection. Why are bath counters so low?
Breakfast was fair.
