Reminded me of my college dorm. Room was clean and bathrooms were generally clean. Good location.
Can hear everyone if window is open.
I stayed with my 12 year old daughter for a girls weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful. We felt safe and the hotel was clean. The location was great! Close to attractions, transportation, shopping, and great restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.
The only negative was that there was no air conditioning and we stayed during a hot spell. However we propped the door open and created a nice air flow during the day. Sleeping was a bit stuffy though.
Location of the hotel, and the polite and informative staff. Great for budget traveler. I would stay there again.
No parking garage. Room could have been aired out better. My clothes picked up the same odor.
the room smelled really bad
clean nice front desk staff good location to scenic pot although it is shared bathroom and shower but there is enough for you to take it.there is not queue. the shared bathroom and shower is clean.
since it is at a cross of some streets,it is noise outside.
Great location and easy acces
No parking, carpet looked dirty
Great value for money. Short walk down to the broad walk (Pier 3) or to Market St. In contrast to the surrounding hotels, the pictures were quite accurate and you got what you paid for. Definitely workable for a short stay.
The place what clean. A beautiful old building.
I live in the country, and the street noise was unexpected, but normal for a big city I guess.
The sheets in the bed were not clean. The place is not soundproof and we could hear other guests snoring... The decoration is very old. We have been very disappointed given the price paid!
Fast free WiFi. Great location.
Smelly, dodgy hotel. Felt rather unsafe. Very tiny rooms. The long-term residents were weird. More a shelter than a hotel.
The room was small, shared bathrooms were dirty, staff was unfriendly. Too expensivefor the quality
economical, good location hotel staff very good- trusted them. They were very helpful and professional.
noise, that lasts long into the night Not used to that much noise. some people are slobs- sometimes the bathrooms are gross because of the slobs.
Nothing in particular.
If your like me and you only book a hotel to sleep in, rather than relax in, this is spot on. Read a few worrying reviews before I got here, but a pleasant surprise!
Little bit of a way from union square, but the location is good for fishermans whalf, so can't have it both ways. Don't like the no guest policy after 10pm
Location, room, clean
Maybe a little expensive but probably ok for SF
It was a quick 20-minute walk to Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf/Ghiradelli Square, which was by far my favorite part of staying at this hotel. 5 minute walk to Little Italy. Yummy breakfast/pastry shop right underneath the hotel that we definitely took advantage of. Room was clean and no signs of bugs or anything like that. Bathrooms were newly renovated/clean, and it was very easy to find one that wasn't occupied. Fridge and microwave were great. Wifi worked perfectly for me (although did not work for my sister, not sure why). Furniture wasn't fancy but it was new. Plenty of plugs for charging phones/tablets/ect. Barely saw anyone in the halls. Perfect price/location/room if you're planning to use it for just sleeping. If we ever return to Sf, we would book here again.
Room was small but fine for just sleeping. TV was also small but had all of the channels you would want. The only chair in the room was a plastic collapsoble chair. The window didn't have screens and led out to what we assumed was a sun roof, so we only felt comfortable sleeping with the window cracked. This made the room very warm at night to sleep. We had an inside room so the room was quiet EXCEPT every night from about 7 or 8 til 10 or 11, live music (clarinets, piano, ect) came from what we think was the building under the sunroof. It was loud and the first night it kept us up, but we eventually got used to it and grew to like it. We also had one neighbor who would keep his window wide open, and in the middle of the night we would hear him talking to himself in jibberish quite loudly, other times he would hiss/growl/randomly scream, but thankfully we never saw him outside of our room. Bathrooms had no soap for washing your hands, so I can only imagine how filthy all the door knobs are in that hotel. Thankfully I packed hand sanitizer. Wifi did not work for my sister but worked for me. Bed was really loud. Walls were really thin. They try to regulate who enters the hotel but it's not really enforced in the right ways. On maybe the 5th day the man at the front desk asked my sister if she was staying at the hotel, and all she had to say was yes for him to let her continue on her way. Meanwhile one night there was a strange man wandering our halls, obviously under the influence of something. You should need a key to get into the hotel. It's in a decent neighborhood, but it's also in a busy neighborhood, so the crazies are bound to sneak in.
The location offered a decent walk to AT &T Ballpark and quick access to all locations in China town.
The shared bathroom situation was not too pleasing. Some patrons are downright disgusting.
Shared bathroom very modern & clean. I liked the location being in a neighborhood.
stains on carpet, stains on bedspread. All else was clean and modern.
Bed was clean and (my very small dorm) room looked like it had been cleaned well
It took 45 minutes to check in! The older gentleman at the front desk does not belong in the service industry. Took an ungodly long time to do anything and forgot everything I said to him within seconds of me saying it. We were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. This man's incompetence was both astonishing infuriating. Showers are communal. Meaning they are nasty and you have to bring you own soap/shampoo. Street is ungodly loud at night. Made a request before I arrived to be on the back side of the building as was told "it would be taken care of". Well guess what - it wasn't. No shocks here as within an hour of being there I had already decided it was the worst place I've ever stayed. This place is a rip-off at any price. You will not enjoy your stay. Look elsewhere.
The location. Room was clean and the communal bathroom was kept to par. Staff was attentive and did their best to accommodate.
Bed was uneven and mattress needed to be flipped over. No screens on the window so expect mosquitoes to come in at night. I got bit quite a few times. Don't throw your cigarette butts in the trash can, they'll think you were smoking in the room when all you're doing is trying not to litter as you walk around town. If I wanted to smoke in the room I would have done it anyways and thrown the cigarette butt out the window, and not leave evidence in the trash can for them to keep my $30 deposit. The manager realized that and gave me my money back.
The location and the view from the bedroom, the staff
The noise from the street (no double-glazed windows)
Noisy streets and bars in the area.
Convenient location, clean rooms and friendly staff.
Shared bathrooms, but the building is more than 100 years old.
Comfortable bed Clean bathroom facilities
Noisy other residents Very hot and airless in the room - asked for a fan but not available
1. Excellent location in Chinatown. 2. Plenty of Asian food options all around. 3. Groceries and souvenirs plenty near 4. Close to Embarcadero center 5. My room was mostly quiet
1. No A/C means I had to leave the window open. Plenty of mosquitoes found an easy meal of me until I went and bought repellent. 2. Bed was hard and very small. 3. Towel service was erratic 4. There are weird long-term residents here: beware! 5. Carpet needs changing very badly
