Location and historic charm
No screen or fan
Entire floor/building smelt like stale cigarettes despite it being a non-smoking hotel. Check in was long, staff weren't particularly friendly or welcoming. Seems to be a sort of halfway house with people staying there you wouldn't feel comfortable bumping into on the way to the toilet in the night. Wifi didn't work a lot of the time. Wasn't really worth the money.
Staff is not friendly and looks busy all the time. Dirty share toilet/ bathroom.and only 1 room per floor is not enough.
Location, price, it's perfect !! The room is small but we didn't need more than a bed... I liked to have fridge in the room.
Excellent location, friendly staff (Heidi was especially helpful), super-clean, very good bargain.
Wifi was a little slow, though still usable.
- way over priced, I was in a single room, so tiny, I couldn't even turn when I unpacked my suitcase and you have to share bathrooms, bathrooms are nice, but other people leave filthy stuff in there. - very noisy. Thin walls, you can hear people cuffing. - everything is sticky: doors, handles, etc. - no friendly staff (1 out of 4 was friendly), no welcome or "hi" when you're coming back. No is no, they don't make any effort to seach for a solution with you. You will think they would do that for paying this price for one room. - passive agressive notes on the doorhandles and houserules
Clean room, the shared bathrooms were always clean during our stay
Lady at the desk wasn't overly friendly, and signing a bunch of papers with houserules etc doesnt make you feel welcome.
Have stayed there several times and love it.
I like the room itself. It was small but very clean all the time. The hotel personnel kept it clean for me. I don't have to clean it. The hotel personnel did the cleaning for me. They even make your bad. You don't have to make your bed especially when you are rushing to go to do your business.
I didn't like my neighbors. Sometimes the neighbors next door and across me do lot of noise. One couple in a room across from my room makes love almost every night. They were noisy when they make love. The women cries very loud when she reaches climax. That disturbs me at time.
The location is excellent...right on the border between Chinatown and North Beach...many restaurant selections. The rooms are well maintained and there is internet available in the lobby. Friendly and attentive service at the front desk is another plus. There are many bus routes nearby and it's possible to walk to Union Square in 15 minutes.
Reminded me of my college dorm. Room was clean and bathrooms were generally clean. Good location.
Can hear everyone if window is open.
Very good location close to China Town and the CBD. Victoria building style.
They only have one toilet and bathroom on each floor. But it was too busy though.
Location and rooms were fine
When the hotel is fully booked, they need more toilets and showers
I stayed with my 12 year old daughter for a girls weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful. We felt safe and the hotel was clean. The location was great! Close to attractions, transportation, shopping, and great restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.
The only negative was that there was no air conditioning and we stayed during a hot spell. However we propped the door open and created a nice air flow during the day. Sleeping was a bit stuffy though.
Good location (Chinatown gates, Market street and Fisherman's wharf can be reached by foot; a lot of chinese shops near); low price; each-day cleaning. Good choice for 1-2 days, but longer stay is not recommended.
Very bad sound insulation (I've heard each sound outside my door), very small room (8-9 sq.m.), strange smell.
Location of the hotel, and the polite and informative staff. Great for budget traveler. I would stay there again.
No parking garage. Room could have been aired out better. My clothes picked up the same odor.
the room smelled really bad
clean nice front desk staff good location to scenic pot although it is shared bathroom and shower but there is enough for you to take it.there is not queue. the shared bathroom and shower is clean.
since it is at a cross of some streets,it is noise outside.
Loved that it was near everything, it's located by Chinatown and it's literally steps away from the bar scene. it was cheap for 4 nights that we stayed since we wanted to stay on budget and everything in San Fran is on the expensive side.
The rooms were small and we were window so it was very noisy because our room was facing the street. I found one small cockroach but everything else was clean.
Great location and easy acces
No parking, carpet looked dirty
location and amenities
it took a long time to check in, I just wanted to check in and rest, the room was dirty when we got there so we had to wait for them to clean
Location in the heart of San Francisco within walking distance to main attractions. Plenty of excellent restaurants around.
The most expensive and poorest hotel we experienced during our vacation in US. It seems that hotel still remembers Gold Rush. Very small room, shared bathroom, only expensive public parking is available (no discount for hotel guests).
Great value for money. Short walk down to the broad walk (Pier 3) or to Market St. In contrast to the surrounding hotels, the pictures were quite accurate and you got what you paid for. Definitely workable for a short stay.
The place what clean. A beautiful old building.
I live in the country, and the street noise was unexpected, but normal for a big city I guess.
