Reasonable prices Staff friendly and helpful Close to Chinatown
Kept me waiting for 1 hour at check in Not 3 stars as shown on booking.com
The location was great close the all sorts of restaurants and shops. The rooms was alright, they had a small refrigerator and a microwave which was really nice.
It was quite noisy because I had a room out against the road. And the bathrooms was not clear and not very nice.
the place is clean, quiet
I was in the middle of China town, little Italy, downtown and Coit Tower
The room smelt of mould stale stuff. The fridge was leaking. The carpet felt sticky. Shared toilet and bathroom for the whole floor of at least 50 other people. (Not the hotel's fault but other people's toilet habits are disgusting - particularly as they are sharing with other adults (not young backpackers). It was really expensive for the room whereas in other cities - you got a large clean room & bathroom & breakfast for half the price.
Clean rooms in a very safe and convenient neighborhood, for a great price!. Microwave, fridge, and TV in room makes things cozy. For their price range, Hotel North Beach is a palace!
As you would expect there is not much in the way of amenities here. While there is a sink and mirror in each room, there are shared bathrooms and showers. No air conditioning either. I was disappointed that there is no soap provided in the bathrooms. Also the staff, while helpful and efficient, are not particularly friendly.
The asian staffs in front desk. They were very impolite. The room is really tiny and smelling. The eviroment is very dirty. I can't believe I booked this hotel. Never will be there. The windows are on the ground without protection very dangerous. It's located in chinatown where is dirty, noisy, unsafe.
Very clean bathrooms, great location
Noise, even with earplugs, interrupted sleep.
Location is excellent, right on the edge of Chinatown, close to downtown, lots of good restaurants and scenery. Staff is curteous and helpful. Price is right for a "European" type experience, low cost with no fringes but comfy and freindly.
Since the bathrooms are shared sometimes waiting can be a pain. There is no daily maid service so trash kind of piles up.
There wasn't a whole lot about this place we did like. It's in a good location, especially because we were walking everywhere. Half hour walk to the Pier, a few minutes from china town and a 40 minute walk to union square.
The room way tiny, it just for the two of us. There was a microwave in the room but it didn't work. Shared bathroom facilities lacked basic things like soap and they weren't overly clean. The hotel says no smoking yet there was constantly people in the rooms next to us smoking. No fan or air ventilation of any sort in the room so we had to risk sleeping with the window wide open just to get some air.
Size of a room ;), Staff was approachable, I could store my luggage, and place where the hotel is is just best !
WiFi did not work and when I have asked for correction or discount I was replied with: "Bad Luck", No air in room except the window what had to be closed as there are too many bars and very busy streets around the hotel.
The sheet on the beds are dirty, bad smell.
location, clearness , price
Staff are very helpful. Location is handy to transportation. Price is fair of what you get.
cleanliness could improve more, unpleasant smell, seem like carpet was not properly cared for.
Location as walking distance to lots. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Very noisy due to traffic intersection outside window and very hot in room as no cooling. Window had to be open so extra noisy 24 hrs/day.
+location +good value for money +laundry facilities, good for long trip
-not very clean -bed wasn´t very comfort
Excellent value for money in a too much expensive city as regards accommodation. Excellent location too, between Chinatown and North Beach (Little Italy)
On my last day of stay the cleaning staff forgot to make up my room. When I noticed it was too late to fix it. Reception staff provided toiletries and fresh towels though.
Location is awesome! Little Italy just two minutes by walk. Stuff was very polite and gave me earlier check in. I stayed in private room with share bathroom. Room was small but very clean and comfy enough. Room has frige and micro oven
Walls so thin you can hear pretty everything
The cleaning staff came pretty much every day and brought fresh towels. They changed the sheets whenever I wanted, even though it was stated sheets were only cleaned once a week. The bathrooms were clean. Even though they were down the hall there were enough of them that I never really had to wait. The showers were modernized and perfectly adequate. The location is great, very near Chinatown and at the same time the North Beach area. I loved being able to walk out the front door in several different directions and really be a part of the city. At one time the hotel was called the Pacific Hotel, I believe, and several Beat poets stayed there in the 1950s, or so I was told.
There was nothing that I did not like to the point of making any comments. It is not a perfect hotel. But for that one has to pay $300 in San Francisco in August. I went expecting hardly anything and found that I had really lucked out. Paying so little per night allowed me to stay a bit longer after my conferences were over. There are a lot of backpackers and foreign tourists and that simply makes it more interesting.
Hotel had a great location to where I needed to be, and the price was right. Room was cozy even if simple, and worked great for what I needed it for.
The shared bathrooms get a bit messy, but nothing more than expected.
no private bathroom.
Bathroom conditions Cleanliness
Location and historic charm
No screen or fan
Entire floor/building smelt like stale cigarettes despite it being a non-smoking hotel. Check in was long, staff weren't particularly friendly or welcoming. Seems to be a sort of halfway house with people staying there you wouldn't feel comfortable bumping into on the way to the toilet in the night. Wifi didn't work a lot of the time. Wasn't really worth the money.
