The only problem we had was with the cleaning ladies on our last day. Check out was before 11:00 am so we made sure to wake up early and get everything packed up. After getting our suitcases ready, I took a shower. When I exited the bathroom I heard someone trying to enter the room. Luckily I locked the door, as I always do at hotels, otherwise they would have just walked in on my girlfriend and I without clothes on. Mind you, it was only 10:00 am. I opened the door and the lady apologized, stating that she was told the room was empty. No harm done. However, she repeatedly attempted to open the door every five minutes until we were ready to leave. If checkout is at 11:00 am and guests are still in the room at 10:00 am, why not just wait until 11:00 when they're sure to be gone? We just thought it was quite rude the way they kept trying to get into the room before checkout. I understand if the staff wanted to get a head start on getting the room cleaned for the next guest but there's no need to rush out the old guests, especially since we still had time to checkout. That was our only issue.
We absolutely loved the balcony and ocean view. The balcony was spacious enough for four people to sit and talk. The close proximity to the beach was also a definite plus. It didn't seem like that big of a deal but being able to just go up to your room, change, take an elevator, and be right on the beach is amazing. It's perfect for taking a night stroll along the beach. Breakfast was excellent and the pool was gorgeous. Myrtle Beach is already a great vacation spot but staying at Ocean Reef definitely made the trip perfect.
