Hotel Oceana Santa Barbara202 West Cabrillo Boulevard, CA 93101 Santa Barbara (Show map) Very good, Score from 287 reviews“So closely located to the beach. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that great so we didn't use the pools or spa. They looked great and in nice weather it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy some R & R.”

The people at the reception were young but just superfriendly! Because it was our honeymoon we got one of the best rooms and indeed the room had a balcony and an ocean view, it was just super! Also breakfast was included and was just perfect with fresh fruit etc. Great hotel!!! Overall appearance of the hotel is not so great (since you need to park the car behind the hotel you see less beautiful stuff)

The staff changed frequently so you had the opportunity to meet and gather information that you needed. Everyone of them were different, one offered advice on activities and gave complimentary coupons to seafood restaurants that I intended to visit. They had a complimentary breakfast each morning and on weekends they made omelets. Maid service was quick and sufficient. We were always supplied with everything. I needed to use a microwave in the evenings and they opened the dining hall to accommodate me. I didn't bring a computer, was informed that there was one for guests to use but that didn't happen. The hotel itself is huge. My room was at the end and to reach the office, I walked down the street, past a restaurant, about 3 blocks. Brochures for things to do were hidden and only the staff could hand them out. Ice machine was not available, but you could call and a staff member would bring ice to you room. They charged daily for parking which is new for me.

Lush landscaping and the central allee of palms and lawn make this feel like a tropical oasis. Location is quiet, but right opposite the beach near the marina, so you can watch boats coming and going. Perfect for morning and evening strolls, running, cycling on free bikes. Oceana lacks several amenities a visitor would expect at this price. Biggest drawback was overly-soft beds, even in the second room we transferred to. Second big drawback was mundane breakfast (dull sandwich bread, no microwave for pastries; slim cereal choice of Cheerios, granola and instant oatmeal). In-room coffee costs $2 a cup;no reading chair in room; the sink is located in the room so no privacy for toiletries; lobby is tiny with no restroom and no coffee after 10 am.

Nice hotel, excellent location, very kind people, fair price. Would definetely recommend to anyone heading to Santa Barbara. By the beach, just between the 2 piers, walking distance from downtown, or 2 blocks away from the electric buses, very convenient.

Great atmosphere, very friendly, lovely room, cute buffet breakfast, easy to find, park and stay at. Nice pool and loungers. Room 211 - Whilst it was a full beach view, which is what I booked from the photo on the website, I was not expecting to be fronting the main road with a walkway from other apprtments directly in front of the beach view window. My mistake, but my wife is a light sleeper so she was a little upset to discover that.

Clean hotel located across from the beach. Walking distance from the main parts of town. Fair value for the money. Keep in mind that nothing is free in California. Older but well kept. They do charge for parking! Had come mechanical problems with the room.

The front desk was nice. The bed was comfortable. Our room was adjacent to the linen room and it was very noisy during the day. The staff kept knocking into our door when they walked by. The room had a mildew oder and the shower had a heavy leak.

Can't beat the location! We had a small view of the ocean from our room which was really beautiful. I assume it is an older property as it was a bit run down here and there, but the updates are bright and cheerful. The bed was surprisingly comfy. The breakfast room was nice and had a good assortment of food. We walked from there up State to shops and restaurants. I think it was a great value for the money.

I liked the location and cleanliness. It is an old hotel and rooms are not large, nor spacious. The bed was excellent. I did not like that they even charged for the coffee's in the room. Their breakfast was o.k. but not out of the ordinary.

I was very excited to spend a night right on the water in Santa Barbara with my daughter. I booked the room online after seeing a beautiful photo of an oceanview room. When we checked in, I was very dissappointed to find that our $330 ocean view room was blocked 3?4 of the way with the front part of the building housing other rooms. If you stood in the corner behind a desk, you could see a lovely view of the water. I chose an ocean view over a partial view and paid the additional price but didn't feel I was given what I paid for. I didn't go down and ask to be moved as I didn't want to make a scene in front of my family.

They had an excellent breakfast. The toilet did not function properly. The walls are thin and the people in the room next door watched their TV very loudly until midnight. The mattress was very uncomfortable- I had to sleep on the floor half the night because I have back pain. The "Standard King Room" had a double sized bed.

Location was nice The sshower was horrible, felt like I was standing under nails, the shower head needs to be re placed. The walls were thin and we could hear our neibors, the prices for the minibar items was excessive, could not leave the blinds open without people looking in, was told upon checkin there would be omlets served at breakfast so we stayed for breakfast but we were charged 5.00 for omlets even tho we were told breakfast was complimentry, originally booked rate for 101.00 but when I noticed the date was wrong the new price was 159.00

The bed was very comfortable. I thought that the room was overpriced due to the fact that on the description of the hotel or room I should say, it said that the room was right in front of the beach with ocean view, and it did not have either. In my opinion that is considered false advertisement.

Room heater did not work. When I called to ask front desk about it, they seemed ill trained and finally brought up a portable room heater which the employee put on its side. Then there was a loud buzzing from the wall in bathroom area that made it all but impossible to sleep. Lack of on site dining or breakfast area was clincher. I would not go back.
