We found cockroaches in the room on the second evening without having any food in the room. The owner messaged that the houskeeper would take care of them. She have done it och even left a spray for us just in case...we had cockroaches every day, which was really disgusting. The owner also sad that in these tropical countrys it happens. I don't think this is acceptable. We have been in 4 islands in a row in 3 weeks period (Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii and Maui) but we have met cockroaches just here in Oceanfront Legacy. Despite silence our till 8 o'clock am the automatic vacuumcleaner strated before 8am and it was very-very loud!!
Room was so hot and fan barely helped. Patio is shared by neighbor so NO privacy. Cable tv barely worked for 4 channels. This place sucks !!!
Very beautiful garden, big rooms, perfect placed for ziplining
Very noisy till after midnight, ok for young party people, not for families. I told at the desk at 11 pm that's very loud and noisy, but nothing happened!
The shelf in the shower was handy. The coffee was good. The owner was nice. They grounds were kept well. The room was relatively nice, just not the details. The view would have been amazing if the weather would have cooperated.
There was nothing to stir your coffee with. The towels were very scratchy and not soft at all, not to mention the fact they were not anywhere near the bathroom. They had hair on them as well. Although there was a tub, there was no way to take a bath. The bathroom had no counter space. There was a large dead millipede outside our door. I don't mind that we had to remove our shoes, but the floors were not clean and no slippers were provided.
This is truly a beautiful place.
My American Express card was charged almost $300 more than the booking price. After inquiring, I was told by the proprietor the price was based on double occupancy and there would be an additional charge of $25 per night, which still did not add up to what I was charged. I decided not to press it. But single people beware: You won't know what the charge will be, and despite his insistence on it being in the fine print, I cannot find it.
It's a very beautiful property and very close the many attractions, about 15 minutes to Hilo and 40 minutes to HVNP. However there are no stores or restaurants nearby (Hilo is the closest place). The owners are friendly and the check-in/check-out process was easy and seamless.
Enjoyed the ocean view and large lawn area. • Jade was very friendly and helpful
Towels rough, didn't replenish soap, shampoo, coffee. No floor mat. Not enough sitting or table space. Room cleaned less efficiently as the week progressed.
Beautiful house and grounds with a great ocean overlook.
Advertised as a vacation rental we assumed, and believe advertised that the unit would have limited kitchen facilities. The unit we were allocated was not one of these. The owner did allow us to use his microwave but with no plates etc not ideal. There was a coffee machine in the room. But no coffee mugs, not even a takeout paper one. As you are staying approx 19 miles from Hilo a long way to drive for a coffee.
Views of ocean spectacular.
Very hard to find. Never saw a staff person in two days on site. Tv did not work. Only real place to sit was on the bed. No restaurants nearby and room had no dishes or cutlery and rules posted said we could not use the kitchen area, only for the expensive rooms and the building was deserted! Very disappointing. Lousy sheets did not stay on the mattress even. I don't usually complain but this was a real bust!
Great views from backyard to ocean cliffs.
Relatively small bedroom. Did NOT like sharing a lanai. Never felt like we could really use it. Only one small chair in room and satellite TV that kept cutting in and out.
We loved the location and the playful atmosphere. Very comfortable and beautiful views of the ocean.
Quiet and great grounds
It was what we expected. Its a big and luxurious house run by its owners, close to Hilo. The man who received us was very kind and made sure we had all we needed.
Spacious room. Beautiful place with garden on top of ocean cliff. Cable tv. We arrived late (after check in hours) and we called and no problem for checkin.
Bed could be more comfortable and quite high.
Big comfortable bed. Great view.
Difficult to find. Lucky we had GPS.
impressive ambiance, nice personal, absolutely beautiful, very cheap for what you get
difficult to find, even with navigation
I loved the quaintness of the hotel. It was more like bed and breakfast than a hotel, but it was clean and very nice. I would definitely consider staying there again.
There was no central air conditioning. There were fans in the room, but it was still a bit warm.
Central East coast location, nice staff and grounds.
Jade was very very nice and helpful. The house was fit for a king. Very clean and really nice bed. Had own bathroom. View was amazing of the ocean.
No a/C. Yes I know alot of house do not have a/c on the island, but with a outside temp of 82 degrees and humidity of 74 percent that is not acceptable! Felt like I was back in Memphis. Would not be able to sleep. With all the marble the noise level is high and you have to have the windows open, you will hear every noise. Stayed maybe 10 minutes and cut the $139 to a loss and went to kona and stayed in a Marriott. Also, food is a round trip of 32 miles. A long ways on a 35mph road!
Firstly, the holiday rental was not appropriately described. By "no food option", I could not imagine there was no chance of buying provisions in less than 12 miles. Unclean: we found a pillow that looked dirty. We pulled the cover out thinking inside was OK. A cloud of dust fell out with what looked like dead skin. Security: The house was accessible to anybody from the back door that led to sea front and with no security lights what so ever. I found the back door wide open at night which I secured, the room led to a balcony which was shared and anybody could walk in, we had great trouble locking it. It all scared me so much that I sacrificed one night's rent £100 approx and saved the agony. Air Conditioning: NO AC, only a pedal fan and the rent was unjustified for the heat we had to endure. The owner says that if we opened all sides then breeze will come. My question is firstly we feel security is nonexistent so how to keep open all sides for enough cross ventilation ? Then, what is he charging the $149 USD per night for ? For the breeze? Then this should be informed in the booking.com for us to make an informed choice. Elevators: The stairs take guests to upper rooms but there is no provision for taking an elevator for less able persons or for carrying luggage, family size. This should also be mentioned in Booking.com. Host attendance: I looked for the host in the late evening and no one could be found, someone pointed out towards a "do not disturb" door saying, may be that is his room. Until today I believe that there is no host attendance on the premises at night. That can be a problem. I will urge booking.com to blacklist this accommodation on grounds of fraud and until Ocean Legacy can seek professional help to get this place qualified for licensing authorities, if there is one in US systems.
