the room rate was good, i enjoyed much discount on two nights stay. hotel staff (i suspect he is the owner, because he showed up at front desk almost 24x7) was very friendly & fast response. breakfast is complementary rather than continental, so don't expect too much. hotel charges for parking fee, although it was listed in the condition, but inn like that shouldn't do so. room is lack of ventilation, hence, full of smell from mold or something.

location. Poorly lit rooms. Old and tired property. Certainly could use update in rooms. Bathroom towels were thin = could see through them. Tiny. I would call them face cloths, not towels. Bathroom light configured to slowly come on till bright, but if I wanted the light on at night in case of need, the bathroom fan was on, which was loud. I call this kind of hotel a '40 watt' room, cause the fact that the rates are cheap, they cut back on amenities. Such as bigger thicker towels, better lighting. Oh, and they charge guests for parking. I would not recommend this hotel, but neither would we mention how much in need of updating and upgrading.

After reading other quest comments we found it better than expected. The room was clean (and with refrigerator and microwave.) They were very helpfull with informations. We had no car so we used trolly and bus to Ensenada Mexico (blue line +ABC bus), Down Town (blue line), Zoo (blue line + bus 7) , Point Loma(bus 28+84), Airport (blue line+bus 922). It was all really days we will remember. Do not forget to visit Point Loma with its view over all San Diego to Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. The breakfest was really basic (as on other hotels in the area? according to our daugther. If you can find a supermarked buy something additional and use the terrase with morning sun). The internet were only free for 15 minutes per day.

The staff member at the front desk was amazing! Very friendly and helpful, we were upgraded to a better room with no extra cost. The room was huge, and very clean, and even though we were a bit late for breakfast the guy at the front desk served us anyway. Just a few blocks from Old town. Definitely recommend.

I liked the closeness to the airport and the $39 room rate for seniors. I liked the friendliness of the reservations personnel too. She made me feel appreciated as a customer. I just needed a one-day layover until my flight to Mexico and having a nice clean and safe room where I could get a good night's sleep was important to me. Thanks again.

I found this hotel to be very conveniently located and withing walking distance to great shops and dining areas. The check in was pleasant and the Front Desk clerk was so informative and accommodating. I was able to purchase discounted tickets to a few attractions from the Front Desk. I like the free WIFI in the room ( many hotels charge for this service) and the coffee, juice and pastries in the morning were delicious. I definitely give kudos to the staff at the Western Inn Old Town for their dedication to their Guests. I will for sure return!!! Parking stalls were a little bit narrow but I appreciate the camera system they have installed. I feel my rental car was very secured.

Location The room was hidious. The full size sheets used on the queen size bed did not stay on at all and we ended up finding ourselves on the bare mattress several times. The flat pillows left both of our necks cramped.

The location is less than a half mile from major freeways - its comfortable - but old. The price on line did not include the total cost and at $89 / night plus 10.5 room taxc that makes it a $100./ room per night - not worth that cost ! - Also the "king Room - I booked - I had to really fight for - I was told sorry only rooms with queen double beds - the hotel said it should not have booked a "King Room" - when none were available

Luggage cart and elevator very helpful. The porter who helped with the luggage. The cold cereal was good but not much of a variety of other breakfast foods. Bed was too hard for my wife. The shower temperature didn't adjust very well--if you turned the knob a little the temperature changed too much. There was no seating in the lobby for breakfast--only the computer chair. Need more choices for breakfast, like fresh fruit, hot cereal. The parking spaces are pretty tight.

The manager and staff are charming and very helpful. Thee hotel is old but clean and comfortable and a great location for visiting San Diego. The parking is a challange but was designed when automobiles were smaller. All in all a pleasant experience and good value too. Could use a little redecorating and new toilet seats!
