BUGS!! Overpriced for hotel in serious need of renovation
Easy access to the 5 which was great. About a 4 block walk to the heart of Old Town. Quiet location and very spacious room. I requested 2 queen beds, which we had in addition to an extra "room" which had a sofa sleeper and kitchenette - sink, micro, refrigerator and a cabinet. Very roomy! Recommend the east side facing west. Open balcony and easy access to stairs and lobby.
Cable system could be upgraded. At no time could you tell what station or program was on - no "guide" or menu on the remote. There was sufficient room for a small easy chair which would have been welcomed. Had to sit/lay in bed to watch late night television.
Location and staff
Building was very old and the room needed renovation.
We were there for a wedding. Very closely located to where we going for the wedding. Good-sized room.
Not especially clean. People not very friendly.
Dirty chairs everthing was a mismatch of furniture. Some chairs had filth with cigarette burns/holes on them. Floor carpet had large rip in it. Just appearance over all dirty. On top of that noisy. There was a group outside drinking and being loud from 9p till 2:30am. Manager was informed in which he did quite them down for a few minutes only for them to return to being noisy.
Hotel room was better than I had expected. Not the best, but not bad. Location was great! Close to the bay and old town.
The attached parking structure is very tight. No way you can park in one spot. Just overall tight and compact. But...the girl at front desk was nice enough to let us know we can park on street when available spots and don't have to pay for overnight parking fees!
This hotel was an excellent choice for the price. You always have options for more expensive or less expensive accommodations when you travel. We prefer less expensive, clean and friendly hotels, to fancy places that are more impersonal. Old Town Western was perfect for us.
There was no mattress pad and there wasn't a fitted sheet as a bottom sheet. I was uncomfortable and felt discussted the whole time.
Short walk to old town Main Street. Clean and nice large rooms family owned and cared for. No frills but convent for my purpose
No restaurant on sight. Bedding should be updated
the location to old town.
no pool, continental breakfast.
Public areas grubby
The hotel is located walking distance to Old Town where you can find plenty of eats, shopping and the train. Room was clean and parking was pretty secure.
The hotel is old and somewhat rundown. Outdoor hallways were covered in patchwork carpet, very unattractive.
Location good - very near Old Town Let us check in early at no extra cost King Bed
In Room wi-fi did not work Rooms run down Hair Dryer falling off wall Carpet wet Charged extra $8 for parking
Location...the hotel is located in the back of old town. Everything was in walking distance. Loved the hot water for the morning showers! Maids were very nice and brought towels to our room when we needed more. The night time staff was very friendly.
Breakfast was very limited...only 2 choices of cereal, small muffins (blueberries or one with nuts) and coffee. You have to bring the food back to your room since there is no sitting area in the lobby. Don't park in the garage! Morning manager always seemed bored...never said good morning. He was helpful but not very friendly. When I checked out, he did not ask me how my stay was..just handed me my bill.
It's in a great location. We could buy tickets at the desk for some local attractions. Desk clerks were very nice
Owner DESPERATELY needs to do a MAJOR REMODEL of this motel. EVERYTHING is OLD and VERY TIRED. Also it isn't clean, particularly the bathroom. (I cleaned the bathroom walls every day myself.) Sheetrock behind toilet was coming off the wall because it was wet. Should have been cement board. Blinds were broken. Not enough light. Painter's tape was used to keep the wallpaper border from falling off the wall. Not enough electrical outlets. Party animals above us partied until 3am! Not enough room to easily park our SUV in the parking garage. We would have checked out, but because I booked this room through Booking.com, I wouldn't have gotten a refund.
Sanjay was great. I had asked for early check in and he made it possible. I will stay there again.
I would like to have an extra blanket in the closet. But nothing else bothered me.
Love the location.
Parking was pricey, breakfast was weak, rooms were very run down.
Standing in street to eat breakfast
*Room we had was incredibly spacious *Location was nice - right off the highway, minutes from downtown and in the heart of Old Town *On-sight laundry facilities
*Parking - very little space, bigger vehicles double and triple parked often taking up room for others - without a tiny rental car this would have been a disaster *Hotel is in need of some major updating - it is Old Town, but things do not need to be Old - - do some updating - great location and close to everything but without updates, I would not go back or recommend to friends *Complimentary Continental Breakfast - a joke - a couple mini-muffins, 2 choices of cereal and coffee is not a Continental Breakfast - that was a major selling point in our hotel selection - we got the short end on that part - fixed our own breakfast daily
Parking they allowed a non handicap car too park in a handicap parking . Cause his His car was too large. It's an older place but wasn't too bad.
Staff was good and cooperative
Room was dark, with no window and poor furniture
Needs alot of improvements. Wallpaper by bed had several holes in. It very small room for hanging clothes
Close to work and waking distance to all the restaurants in old town.
Overpriced, parking was bad, ice machine on 3rd floor and continental breakfast was bad.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. the hotel location is excellent, both for its proximity to Old Town and the ease of accessing freeways to get to other places in San Diego
The hotel is pretty run down. While the room was very clean, the tile looked like it need to be replaced, and the refrigerator had a broken latch and was sitting on the floor so that opening the door was difficult. The outdoor hallway had very ragged outdoor carpeting and looked very old. Overall, the hotel could use a good renovation. We paid over $100 a night, plus parking fees, and frankly, there are other newer hotels that cost about the same, but that are much nicer.
