Tina anticipated our every need. Never had to ask for anything. We had great parking, plenty of linens, extra pillows and blankets, clean bathroom with soap, shampoo, hair dryer, and magnifying mirror. Breakfast was more than ample with a wide selection of fresh foods. Coffee was always available with a variety of pods for the Keurig machine. Fresh cookies were also available for snacking. We didn't even use other things that were available to us, like the movies, games, computer, and piano. We had a lovely two-night stay.
We could hear some noise on the street at night but we drowned it out with a white-noise app that we used while sleeping.
Good breakfast. Cheap rate. Historical significance. Quaint in its own way. Giant TV remote. Cat.
Location, location, location. Mold around tub sealant. Parking not locked/secure. Things are kinda old - VHS tapes, CRT computer monitor and TVs - and kinda disheveled.
Staff was great. Enjoyed the mansion n breakfast was great.
Location. Bed was a little soft.
Truly beautiful historic house with very high ceilings and numerous ornaments. Good and generous breakfast. Very friendly owners and staff.
Bathroom and shower were a bit small. The floor creaked in some places.
Architecture was gorgous
Location not a neighborhood worth exploring
Beautiful old home maintained with love. Personal service-felt like you were visiting a relative. Snacks and beverages at any hour. Hot full breakfast.
Being an urban setting it was a little noisy and I had a street bedroom. I've stayed at other B & B's with similar situation and were given ear plugs. But noise stopped before midnight. This did not distract from my stay.
The owners were friendly. If you were fortunate to have a private bath then the bathrooms were spacious and clean......if, like me, you had to share the one located on the first floor through the dining area then not so much. I did peak at the other rooms at the BnB and some are sparsely furnished and some are gorgeously fitted out.
Sixth Avenue in Troy NY is a high crime area. This stately building was surrounded by abandoned boarded up townhouses and streets / sidewalks littered with garbage. The house alarm went off twice after midnight my first night there and police sirens were up and down the street the second night there. I left without staying a third night. This are is NOT SAFE. Don't even think about going out to walk around the area and explore a new place - something I enjoy doing - because it is not safe to do so. On Sunday, I picked up a copy of the Times/Union - the major paper up there - and there was a story about the high crime on Sixth Avenue in Troy. Well, duh. If I had known what kind of area this was in, I would have stayed way out Rt 7 in either direction than in Troy. The BnB is more like an old fashioned boarding house but it does have charm and the owners are a very nice couple who bought there decades before the urban blight set it - all the abandoned boarded houses. Not what I was looking for. I had no problem checking out a day early and giving up the fee for the last night.
I loved our stay. The ONLY draw back was the neighborhood. The B&B itself was beautiful but the area is riddled in a poor neighbor hood.
easy to find, everything was clean, the bathroom roomy an clean an staff friendly.
The old house charm was very nice and woodwork was beautiful. The owner was not there during our stay, but the lady who was there to cover was very nice and made us feel welcome at breakfast.
The pillows were very flat and it was pretty much like sleeping on the mattress.
Historical architecture great breakfasts cozyness, homeyness friendly proprietoress
Hostess Tina was wonderful. The king room was spacious and comfortable. Slept very well in the king bed. Private bathroom a plus. Air conditioning wonderful as we stayed during hot summer days. Breakfast cooked fresh in the morning. Snacks laid out when we arrived. Wonderful stay, will return!
Location of hotel is in an odd part of Troy.
Tina, the owner is a lovely, welcoming woman. Breakfast was excellent. The mansion is a beautiful quiet place. I would certainly choose staying there again
easy access, parking, close to many venues. Home-like, no harsh or unpleasant odors, welcoming, efficient
The owners are very friendly! The breakfast was excellent!
This place is elegant and charming with a capital C, and homey and comfortable at the same time. The proprietors struck a perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. Will definitely stay again!
Very convenient for visit to Troy
I loved the building. Absolutely beautiful woodwork, amazing pocket-doors and high ceilings...stunning! Breakfast was delicious and made to order. Talking with Tina and other guests fun and interesting. If I am back in the area I will definitely stay again! *****
Difficult to find. Need a well lighted sign for those of us traveling at night. Did get helpful, encouraging directions when I called, both times!
Friendly good vibes
Lovely place and staff. Off street, dedicated parking spot is prime!
As a NYer I don't mind so much, but out-of-towners might benefit from knowing it's in a dodgy neighborhood.
The building was beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was prepared to order for us, and was delicious.
very friendly. very helpful.
Full, fresh, individually prepared breakfast to order by the friendly, down to earth and kind host and owner, Tina; casual, homey comfort of common areas; lovely old building; generosity of hosts and B&B: coffee, tea and snacks available on "help yourself" basis at all times, free use of refrigerator, etc. Overall an excellent value for your money!
The shades/ blinds on some of the windows were not (easily) openable in the room, which prevented us from enjoying the sunlight and detracted from the overall atmosphere. The house smells like pancake syrup and vanilla flavored coffee throughout. This, on the one hand, could add to the homeyness. It was for me, however, somewhat overpowering. Some airing out from time to time would give some more freshness.
Tina was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ideal.
