this is a beautiful house that is well furnished with lovely things and very spacious. we were close to the volcano and Hilo. Arriving just after Hurricane Iselle we were worried but Todd was very accomodating even though there was no power for the first night! We all felt very welcome and relaxed straight away.

Being up in the clouds is pretty damp (the reason the for the beautiful, lush surroundings) and it was quite hard to dry out towels after a day on the beach. A dryer would be a great addition but we managed pretty well without.

Great setting. Close to everything we needed. Helpful owner and spotlessly clean. Nice having coffee provided. Would recommend to anyone. Character accommodation at a good price

Very comfortable, beautiful, clean, and well-kept cottage with the comforts of home, within a mile of the entrance to Volcanoes National Park; also convenient drive to Hilo. Todd was very helpful and friendly. So nice to be able to spread out in our own rooms and have tv, living room, and a kitchen for making breakfast before heading out on our adventures on the east side of the island. A cozy gas fireplace warmed us when the nights got chilly. Our teenage boys were very happy with the accommodations, and one room was also set up for younger kids. We enjoyed this second half of our vacation even more than the beach hotels of Kohala.

The only negative of such a small town is that there were only a couple small restaurants, especially on Sunday night. The ones we did find were convenient & friendly and food was great. There were also two very small convenience stores but not open at night---just plan ahead if you need to buy a few groceries.
