This recently renovated, former Holiday Inn is in the heart of historic Corktown. It is conveniently located just off either I75 or M10 highways and 30 minutes from Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The room, the service, front desk ppl, NEEDS up date fast......
This hotel is not your average chain hotel it's family owned which made a huge difference. The owners were there and they talked to people and made you feel a part of their family. The food was out if this world!!
There was a smell in our room but we went and bought air fresheners and that solves that problem
LOVED THE ROOM
Would like 24 hour room service
the location and the view.
It was too cold in my room.
The desk clerk that was on at night tried her best to make things right for us. When we first checked in, there was no heat in our room. She immediately placed us in another room.
We found out that the door to our room didn't lock unless you moved the door just right. When we told the desk clerk in the morning, she just told us how to hold the door so it would lock. They obviously knew and had not fixed the problem. Also, that night the cook didn't show up and so the restaurant just didn't open - that might no room service either.
The property was clean, free wifi, river walk behind the hotel, free parking.
The property is located at the end of a road. Driving up felt as if we arrived to a nursing home or on an episode of Ghost Stories. The hotel was empty, eerie feeling, lobby restroom is on the lower level which requires an elevator ride to a level that felt haunted. It felt like I was being watched, hovered over. The ice machine was located down a long hall in janitorial room through a door near a stairwell. I did not wish to find it alone so my husband and I searched together. There was also a disturbance during the morning with loud unexplained banging noise on the 1st level. We used the do not disturb sign however, housekeeping woke us. The room had old outdated paintings, decor. This property could use a face-lift we stayed years ago and it was great. Since this hotel has not been renovated or updated in at least 7 years its no longer a great place. The Riverwalk is great though.
On the water! Friendly staff, centrally located, classic and lovely hotel. Cheap drinks at the bar downstairs. We visited Detroit during one of the worst snow storms in 30 years and this waterfront hotel was the perfect refuge. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.
The staff was pretty nice
The hotel wasnt as great as we thought there were alot of defects. Its like a ugly women with alot of make up.it looks great but after u take away the first glances its just another place not worth the price
The exterior (the actual river walk) was pleasant.
Posted hours of both restaurant and bar are not accurate. I was told there would be a refrigerator and microwave in the room- there was not. "Blanket" was hospital style and paper thin. Sadly, the unwelcoming staff seemed very aware of everything wrong.
Within walking distance is the Atwater Brewery and Bar which is surrounded by other bars and restaurants (highend and low). It's river location gives excellent views of Winsdor Canada and the newly redeveloped river walk way extends a mile to the RenCen building. Where you pick up the PeopleMover that takes you to many of the hot spots in Detroit.
The staff are nice but uninspired likely due to the lack of customers. I've watched this historic landmark hotel go down hill for the past 10 years. It's 1911s architecture is amazing but it's infrastructure needs upgrading.
This hotel has great nostalgia. The decor, moldings along the ceilings and walls just add to its old feel. The hotel really looks upscale in appearance and if you can snag a discounted rate its definitely worth staying here. This hotel is a great alternative compared to motor city or mgm but not on par with their level of upkeep and luxury. I had a 2 night stay for under $150 what a deal.
The shower had a few settings...cold...hot...and death by boiling water. It never kept a consistent temp. SMALL ANNOYANCES INCLUDE. BROKEN SOCKETS... USE OF EXTENSION CORDS...YES THE BROWN ONES SOME OF THE CLOSET DOORS ARENT ON TRACK OR SLIGHTLY OFF PIVOT THE CABLE TV SHOWS TERRIBLE. REMINDS ME OF THE SMALL 13'' TV YOU SEE IN PARKING LOT BOOTHS. THE BATHROOM HAS MARBLE AND BRASS FIXTURES WITH WALL PAPER. LOOKS VERY HIGH END UNTIL YOU LOOK AT THE TUB AND WHERE THE MARBLE STOPS WITHIN THE SHOWER AREA. AGAIN A FEW MORE DOLLARS IN RENOVATION CAN MAKE THIS A CONTENDER WITH MGM AND MOTOR CITY. THE LOBBY SHOULD HAVE A COUNTER AND NOT A DESK. LIKE THE DESK OUT OF YOUR PRINCIPALS OFFICE. AGAIN NOTHING TO TURN YOU AWAY FROM BOOKING A STAY BUT GIVING PEOPLE EVERY EXCUSE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. THE HOTEL HAS SO MUCH PROMISE. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE OWNER OF THE BUILDING DOESNT MAKE THIS A WORLD CLASS HOTEL. THERE ARE ONLY SMALL ISSUES BUT AT THE REGULAR PRICE RATE THERE ARE BETTER CHOICES FOR YOUR NIGHTLY STAY.
The staff was very professional and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this property.
The front entrance was backwards with its one way. Either flip it or accommodate both ways.
The staff was great, and the old style is nice.
It is cold and drafty. Our first room's heater died. There is no heater or vent in the bathroom which makes that nice tile freezing cold. The shower is either scolding hot or cold.
Dated interior closet door hing broken
Great old venue on the river, renovated into a hotel. Easy access to downtown Detroit. Easy parking. Overall nice place to stay, with a great view!
It's a bit worn around the edges, with peeling wallpaper in our room and a shower that didn't work. But overall a very nice room and clean, safe hotel. The restaurant & bar area leave a lot to be desired - steer clear of it. Not what you would expect in what's billed as a "boutique" hotel.
Staff is great and it's right downtown. Easy to get to the main sports strip.
- very friendly staff - good room - free parking - free wifi
- poor breakfast from Monday to Friday
Just river view
Welcome and accommodation staff Comfortable bed Not a noisy place 8 min from Downtown Detroit
some improvements can be done on the quality of the food. General maintenance is needed in general. But very accommodating and friendly staff. The neighborhood is not very nice and doesn't feel safe.
- Great value for a hotel with a lot of character and a great view onto the Detroit riverfront - Very large rooms with high ceiling - Riverwalk just outside the hotel, very nice for taking a walk, Atwater brewery around the corner
- People who are looking for a spotless, new hotel should not come here - Some of the lights in the hallway don't work, no minibar etc. - Not all rooms are in the main building. We got one in main building but quality of others may be lower
Rooms are large and decorated in the very classic old style with big marble bathrooms. The location on the river is beautiful and their bar area with pool table is a nice place to hang out and have a drink with friends.
When I arrived at the hotel the receptionist wanted to give a room without river view. When I made it clear that I asked for river view when booking, the lady made her excuse and gave me a room with excellent view on the Detroit River.
The hotel is rather far (about 3 km) from the center of Detroit.
Staff were friendly and facilities were nice. Room was nice and big. Lobby is appealing. Gym was better than I expected.
Staff were hard to reach at times. No hot tub or pool. Located somewhat far from the main drag, though I knew that when I booked.
They have the most horrible customer service i will never deal with them again
Lovely old hotel on the waterfront with tall ceilings. Very friendly staff. Excellent value.
