The staff were all very friendly and helpful
The price. It cost 20 dollars a night less than the Trump in Soho, and does not compare. Location is poor
The staff was very friendly, the front desk, the bell men, etc. The hotel was a beautiful color red and very modern, which is different than other hotels we have stayed. It is close to shopping, good food, and any kind of convenience item you need. There is a night life that makes you feel you are indeed in "the city that never sleeps." The restaurant in the lobby, Co-Op had a great breakfast, but staff needed a little help! I personally loved the lobby with complimentary coffee/tea in the morning! The mini bar was also amazing!
The light in our bathroom did not work, but we did not complain. I found out before we left for the weekend it was an electrical issue. The remote control did not work. These are the only complaints we had.The good outweighed the bad.
Cool interior, great breakfast, comfortable tempura beds. Cool area with both nice and interesting restaurants.
Noice from outside, stayed over weekend and then lots of noise, had my own earplugs that solved it though. A bit rough area, but cool.
This hotel is all about customer satisfaction and I was very pleased especially with the bed, I will definitely book again
Location, location location. Views were superb, plus a good bar, free breakfast, free wine served between 12-6pm, attentive staff. This place is COOL but doesn't yet have the attitude that others (Gansevoort, Standard, Soho Grand) have. Minibar excellent, prices fair.
A cool crowd brings some noise at night time, beds were tempur which might not suit everyone, some of the paintwork at the property could probably do with a little TLC.
We got married in NY and needed something close enough to the venue in Brooklyn and nice enough for our mini-moon. Plus it needed to be affordable (for NY). This ticked all the boxes. The staff were great. When they found out we were getting married they sent us champage and decorated the room with rose peddles. Plus every night around 630 a women came around w/ a cookie cart and gave us Christmas cookies. What a nice treat. Loved it and will stay again
The only dig is a huge party for the roof too bar arrived at the same time we came in one night. The lift for the roof bar and the lift for te guest rooms are one in the same. So it was a little crowded and with only 2 lifts we had to wait a while to get to the room.
Bed super comfortable, big room and good wardrobe space (for anywhere not just New York)- not highest spec but nothing really distracting, big plus for quiet aircon. Free tea coffee early morning only, then with water and wine from 12-6pm. If you like breakfasts on site book the complimentary ones, they are good (but slighty rigid choices).
Why stop water, tea and coffee at 6 pm??? And please pay more attention to the complimentary bar area. Often no water, hot or cold, or no clean glasses, or littered with empty bottles and dirty glasses. Cleaning staff have no access to restock, except hot water, and the one guy on reception is busy there. Would be easy to do this better.
Check in: we were early but our room was ready so we could check in at no extra cost. Complimentary refreshments including tea, coffee, water and wine. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The view (eventually after upgrading as we were on floor 6 and moved to 18 without any issues) Friendly, helpful and chatty staff. Subway at Essex / Delancey Street. Provided with a complimentary fruit selection and bottle of wine for my birthday from the hotel and was delivered to the room as a lovely welcoming surprise.
This is more of a notification / information rather than a dislike. I booked the room and neither the terms and conditions on either booking.com or Rivington website inform you that $100 are held per night as a room incidental deposit. We stayed two nights resulting in $200 being held. Nor where we made aware of this at check in. A couple we met on their honeymoon were also not aware of this and they were staying for 7 nights ($700 held for incidentals). For those of us not familiar with the way it works in America, as I have never experienced this elsewhere when traveling abroad, that the deposit is held until check out and will be refunded within 3-5 business days depending on the bank you are with could seriously affect the money you have brought with you if using a cash passport to prevent exchange rates by withdrawing money.
Location and view
Room facilities not maintained for a while. Renovation partly needed. Hence room rate overpriced.
I like everything about this place
Cool entry, friendly and helpful staff. Hotel has there own driver/car that you can hire. Complimentary wine and snacks every afternoon--nice touch!! Cool lobby area on the second floor. Large rooms. Lovely lotion, body wash and shampoos!
My room was on the 6th floor so not so much of a view and also the room faced the street which was noisy at night. Rivington is a hopping little street in this area which has a busy nightlife, horns honking constantly. However, I am a very light sleeper. For some, bring earplugs!!
Location; complimentary coffee / tea / water and fruit in the lobby at breakfast time. Complimentary wine in the lobby in the afternoon. Comfortable bed and amazing shower. Liked the dimmer switches to access the light you wanted
If you want to live like a real New Yorker this is your hotel. The lower east side is the place to be and it's situated conveniently to a major subway station so you can still head to the tourist hot spots with ease. This was our second time to Rivington and the service is exceptional from the doorman to reception and we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine. The view from the corner/king suites is the best way to wake up and worth the extra extra money!
Having been there a few years ago we noticed some of the fittings are looking a little tired but otherwise no complaints!
We liked the location! The city view is fascinating. The staff is welcoming and ready to assist at any time. Thank you!
Location Wifi Free coffee / wine in lobby friendly staff
lack of good bar / dining options Gym / Spa Room views
location was GREAT, floor to ceiling windows with city view
-location: many good bars and restaurants in the area, but still quiet in the hotel -friendly staff -good advise for restaurants in the area -decent sized room
- late check-in time (4 pm), but the staff arranged for us to check in at 3 pm - low water pressure in the shower
cleanliness. Excellent bed. WIFI worked very well.
Room Service charged different amounts for the same beakfast each day (2).... No explanation... Room was not ready until 4 pm. No map of the area provided (it would be really useful). Lobby is really really really tiny, difficult to deal with more that one person at a time.
We were here for my fiancee birthday ans it was a wonderfull time. The view from the room is magic and everybody is professional and sympathic. A very good place
It's a gorgeous space, location, and view.
The hotel is showing its age. It's in much need of paint, cleaning, and other updates.
All the doormen, especially Lester, are very, very friendly.
Loved the Lower East Side vibe- easy walking distance to Soho and the West Vilage. The room was such a decent size- incredibly spacious, bed so comfortable, great bathroom and terrific mini bar.I will stay there again for sure.
Location is excellent, in the middle of Lower East Side and close by the subway. The rooms are surprisingly big.
We had a leak in the ceiling of our room which we reported. We were told that they were going to fix it during the day. When we got back nothing was fixed. We had to call back asking. We were told that they could not fix it and they offered no alternative. Given that sleeping in a room with a water coming from the ceiling was not an option for us, we had to ask for a new room. Only after insisting they gave us a new room and then a complimentary bottle of wine. All in all it ended up fine and we moved to a new room; however it was not appreciated that the hotel staff did not automatically looked for a solution for our case.
