Great 'wooden' flooring- no dust, no smell! Very good beds. Excellent location.
The price is a little steep, also because of the extra (city and tax) costs!
Location, Close to central park and Columbus Circle
Room was dated and small, not at all as shown on pictures.
Great location in Upper West Side neighbourhood, a safe and attractive neighbourhood close to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. Metro station close by and many restaurants in the neighbourhood. Clean and stylish hotel. Lobby is cosy and bar and restaurants offer good quality.
Early check-in was approved by mail but upon arrival I had to wait for 1h30 before my room was ready. Apparently there were issues with check-in that day. Address is not easy to find (access through side-street of Broadway despite Broadway address given).
Room was clean, dorm like. The coffee available in the am at the bar good. Change of pace staying in upper west side, a good location .
Very noisy air conditioner
Loved the atmosphere, staff so friendly and ready to help out, and location was fantastic! I liked being closer to Central Park and more in the 'neighborhood' vs. all the usual hubbub of NYC.
Our room had a connecting door that was not thick enough to block noise from the room next to us. We heard everything that went on in the room next door. Thicker, tighter doors would be a quick easy fix!
Amazing staff , amazing room just made my visit perfect !
This was are first stay here and if we come back this is where we would choose to stay. Made are stay in NY even more enjoyable. Couldn't ask for a better staff and service.
No free WiFi in rooms. It is free in lobby though.
I love that there was a gym and it had everything I needed. The staff was warm and friendly. NYLO was clean and in a prime location.
living room area; kuerig; balcony louge areas; modern look
lack of view from room; construction at 7 am.
We liked the location, staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms interesting and comfortable, coffee machine was a nice touch! We'd definitely stay here again
We found the air con a bit noisy, but by running it in the evening then switching off overnight the room was cool enough without disturbing our sleep
Location Lobby Rooftop deck Room size
Nice room. Staff was very helpful.
Construction was annoying but wasn't really the hotel's fault.
location excellent. very good pressure on shower cleanliness
rooms too small. beds too high. noise from construction.
The bar included in the hotel entrance.
For the price the Wifi could be included - unfortunately that was extra for the room.
I liked the location of the hotel. It is about 3 miles from. Times Square. The staff was very helpful and poliet. The room was clean and the entire hotel is smoke free. Very quiet and I never heard anyone walking around the hallways, nor could I hear anyone's tv.
The room was on the small side. The standard room pictures on the website are misleading. The pictures show a bigger room then you actually get.
Rooms were modern and spacious, very comfortable and clean.
Advance notice of the building works going on in the adjacent building, the drilling was so loud we could not hear ourselves talk, this will be going on for some months so check beforehand, it ruined our stay! We left our coats in the closet, hands up, our fault however we had to ask various members of staff if they had been handed in, only when we asked the Manager did we get out response which sadly was no.
The style of the rooms The location- close to Central Park and I was able to walk all the way from Columbia University back to this hotel in about 25 minutes.
The Gym was below standard for the price I paid. Some of the equipment wasn't working or it was old.
Trendy and upbeat décor and staff
Jackhammers at 8 AM!
Received an upgraded room on arrival and drink vouchers Web info on wall near lift was handy
Annoying Construction at 7 AM next door
The staff are very friendly! It's unfortunate that the rooms were so drastically changed with the property ownership. We have been frequenting this hotel several times per year since its opening as On the Ave in 2008. The change to NYLO was unfortunately a bad one. The hotel seems very interested in attracting a young and LOUD clientele - note: the person writing this is 30 years-old. The recent spike in room prices has put the nail in the coffin for me. The location and the rate made this hotel a gem in the past.
Furniture in room is like a college dorm room furnished by Ikea. Desk is a wood shelf on steel bars. Entertainment unit is a metal pink/green/blue gym locker. The in-room mini fridges were removed. No carpeting, so floor is extremely cold even during the summer; this also removes any sound buffer formerly available. Wallpaper is meant to look like exposed brick, which is odd because there used to be exposed brick throughout the property. Leaky sinks and the sink water choice was scalding hot or nothing. We complained twice and it was not fixed during out 3 night stay. Finally - $15 per day for wiFi - lol - not in 2014!
Didn't like lobby and bar space. Just personL preference.
The interiors were cool. Basic room small but comfortable. Staff was pleasant.
Construction work on sidewalk. only Ice machine was floors away and poorly marked. Elevators were designed poorly. Problems with contacting hotel over a payment issue. They kept me on hold for over 15 minutes and then was cut off. Overcharged my card so I had to wait 24 hours for reimbursement. I complained when checking in but was basically ignored. I think an apology for my inconvenience would have been nice from the management. It was our wedding trip and it started off sour with the hotel.
The hotel was perfect and exceeded our expectations, we were upgraded to a superior room at check in which was delightful as the extra space was much needed. The bathroom was spotless and the whole place was very trendy, The Vintage Vogue photo-shoot in the lobby on our last day truly reflected the vibe this hotel offers.
Shower could have been more powerful.
very sparse room to put things in the room. Difficult to manage for more than a weekend. very little room beyond the bed in the room. a queen size bed would have been better than a king for the space.
