close to all major amenities super friendly staff attention to all details refillable shampoo and conditioner
location of toilet roll holder- it should be in front of the toilet ( not beside)
Location was great, room was nice but small.
Parking fee was expensive. No Wi-Fi in room.
It was our honeymoon, the hotel stuff gave us a desert and champagne. They were so kind. The management also upgraded our room with a penthouse. The room was big and clean. Thanks again :)
The wifi isnt free!
Quality of staff and approach to customer service. Hotel is in a good location with most destinations within walking distance.
The staff was outstanding. Great location, close to TD Garden, North Station, Freedom Trail, Quincy Market. Lots of great restaurants and shopping in the North End.
Loved the decor at this hotel; not over styled, but tasteful and practical. We had a slightly difficult experience as the air-conditioning in our room was faulty and as the hotel was full they could not move us until the second night, so our first night was a bit uncomfortable. However the staff were lovely, especially the doorman from Morocco, but the reception staff too and we were only charged for 1 day's parking in compensation. The first room was very spacious, the second slightly less so, but still big enough for 4 people. The internet worked well in the second room. We loved the location (The North End), which is not a residential area so quiet in the evening, but very close to Faneuil Hall, the waterfront and other interesting sights.
I have to preface this by saying that we still really liked this hotel and think that any problems we had were unusual or down to teething. Apart from the fact that the air-conditioning didn't work and the internet was terrible in our first room, we had a problem with the accounts department. We had booked through Booking.com on the basis that we would pay at the hotel, but there was a mix-up and my card was debited prior to our arrival and I didn't notice until 10 days later when I got home. This was annoying because of the way I had budgeted to pay for our holiday, but after a few emails the hotel corrected the mistake and debited the card we had wanted to use.
I had read hundreds of reviews before deciding to book the Onyx. One traveler mentioned the smell of the hotel which I thought was odd . . . Well, I wanted to leave, just so I could re-enter! The lobby smells like white tea leaves, at least to me. The rooms are relatively small but very updated and clean. Staff is wonderful. Can't wait for a reason to to stay at the Onyx again!
Not one thing!
Everything else, especially access to public transportation
The surrounding of the hotel is a bit messy, probably due to weekend
Staff and service was wonderful.
The room was a little smaller than I expected and the view was nonexistent.
Staff were excellent, professional but very friendly.
No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
People were friendly and helpful
location-had trouble getting to Portland Street and taking the right up the one way street.
Perfectly located, very nice staff and lovely room
Not free wi-fi
The friendly, professional service of the staff is what makes this hotel. We were greeted warmly by everyone from the desk clerks to the valets every time we crossed the lobby!
The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey for what you got.
location. We did not take our car into the city, Amtrak to North Station. Close to the North End, & harbor, just a short walk, but very quiet. Always felt safe no matter what time we were walking around.
I sent my husband out for coffee early, did not realize they had some set up in the lobby. (maybe a note to mention this) not a major issue. He liked the fact that he did not have to leave the hotel.
Nice staff, clean room, proximity to T and North End restaurants and shops. Clear driving directions.
Rate is way high for what and where it is (immediate neighborhood is rundown and deserted on non-game days), parking charge seems especially high. We have had comparable weekend stays in NYC for substantially less cost, sorry to say...
The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient. The room was attractive (although small)
For what we got, it was over-priced. At that price breakfast should have been included.
Location was fantastic. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Happy hour was great. Food was good.
The decor was dark and made the room darker. The lighting could have been better, too dim, not enough of it. Would have like a coffee maker. The wifi was terrible!!!! The hot water didn't reach to our room at some hours of day and night.
Small hotel, close to Back Bay
small crowded rooms, noisy at night form inside hotel and on the street
Great location. Walking distance to MANY venues. Recently updated, attractive facility. Honors bar and snacks in room. Great bed, shower and TV. Friendly staff.
HAD TO PAY $12.95 FOR WIFI!!! Two nights with valet parking $900 AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR WIFI...B-S! Don't get me wrong, this place is decent value for the money BUT charging for WIFI is over the top. There are many excellent, less expensive, hotels just around the corner from the Onyx...think twice, I know I will! Two other gripes...noisy heating system and circular pulls on the storage draws and cabinets that look nice but are a pain to use.
Food was okay
The hotel staff was extra courteous and generous. We had some car trouble and they allowed us to check out a few hours later so we could enjoy the stay. Also, we had some very, very noisy and inconsiderate group of neighbors who were drunk and obnoxious. The hotel staff did all that they could AND gave us half off our visit. Now that's service! We were greeted with complimentary wine and snacks during happy hour at check in.
The room was tiny...but It's Boston, I guess.
